Sketch For You To Try…

Hooray for Saturday! This morning we are going to spend some time {again} rearranging furniture and prepping the nursery. So far we have a crib, changing table and rocker. Next month we will be adding a dresser, too. The “hard” part is that it is also going to remain part playroom. I almost feel like drawing a line down the middle of the room…LOL! The nursery will eventually convert fully into a playroom when baby boy del Muro moves into his “big boy” room, which is right next to Ellie’s room. I feel very fortunate that we have the space to do this, but it sure is a pain in the meantime! I will have pics up soon of the “new and improved” {can there really be such a thing…think about that one!} office/studio space. I love the new area that Tony and I are sharing. It just makes sense that we have it set up like that! After we get the nursery all set up, I will have pics of that, too.

Anyways, on to the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY
sfytt082209-1

This is honestly one of my favorite sketches EVER! I really hope that you will play along and see all the possibilities, too. I had originally planned {and actually did have one ready to go} to put a image on the panel that says “butterfly wishes” repeatedly. Then, I remember the Cuttlebug die that I got from the Bella store and thought that it would be fun to pair it with the sentiment. All of the DP and the green pearls are from the Bella store, too…

Designer of the Month, Megan, flipped the sketch and came up with this ever so darling card with Papertrey stamps…

Sketch For You To Try…

What a wild week it’s been! The weather was crazy here in North Texas. I think it rained for 16 hours straight hours between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The power went out several times. So much that it blew the relay on our fridge…UGH! Turns out that a $10 surge protector would have saved us the $170 is cost to fix. Make note of that peeps! I started “play school” with Ellie this week, too. I have a workbook that we do a letter page, a number page and a motor skill page on 3 days a week. She is loving learning to write her letters. She has actually been showing interest for some time, so this seemed like a natural progression in teaching her. She even wrote her name for the first time yesterday. Granted, Ellie is pretty easy to write out, but I am one proud mama!

Let’s get down to biz-ness! Here’s this week’s sketch…

ABC Friday…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey, Verve, projects, random ramblings | Friday, May 1, 2009

TGIF y’all! Hope everyone had a great {and productive} week. I have been creating like crazy…as you all have seen! Today I have 3 {of the same} projects to show you. I got some of Jody’s die cuts and I can’t put them down…and I was already addicted to the dimensional boosters that she has. BTW-the boosters I use are the same shape as SU! ones, but basically made with red-line adhesive…AWESOME! The die cut that I used for today’s creations is the Candy Box {the first one on her die cut sale page}. Before I even got started creating, I brainstormed some ideas for these. Here are a few that I came up with:

-Just Because/Friend
-Thank You
-Wedding Favor
-Kid’s Party Favor
-Office/Co-worker Birthday
-Teacher Gifts {you know it’s that time of year!!}
-Sports Team and/or Coach Gifts/Incentives
-Any Holiday Theme
-Place Setting {put names on them}
…I am sure there are a ton more, but I stopped here because I had enough to get started on these…
jodycandyall

This is one that I made with a sports team theme. When I played soccer in high school we had secret sisters and this would have been perfect to fill with goodies or even team colored hair bows. I forgot to anti-static my paper before I used super fine black embossing powder, but I actually like the way that it came out…kinda matching the distressed look of the PTI stamp…

Yep, I embossed the candy box with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. You have to be a little creative to do it since it is not a perfect fit, but it is definitely {and easily} do-able. I put the embossing folder over the center part of the candy box and then folded the end pieces/flaps on top of the folder and then ran it through. It isnt’ quite long enough, so you have to do it from the other side, too.

The next one I made can be for a wedding or party favor. The bright colors of this one say “party” to me, but if tone down the colors, these would make fab wedding favors. Again, where were these when I was making my own wedding favors 5 years ago?
jodycandyd
See those glittery dots? I made those, too! I used Jody’s sticky dots and placed them all over the paper and then sprinkled pink glitter on top…viola, sparkle paper! Note: you only need to put the dots on 4 of the 5 sides because one them is tucked/adhered under to make it into a square shape. Here’s pic of the paper with all the dots on it…

Finally, here is one that would be perfect for a “Just Because” type gifty. You can always change up the sentiment and embellishment to make it for any occasion. I think that these would make cute place cards for a holiday dinner or wedding. The “Friend” stamp is from the new release “Because of You” from Verve Stamps.
jodycandyfriend

Here are a few detail shots from when I created this…

Give the edges some “flair” by using a border punch {one of those new EK Success ones here}. I think that EK Success has one that has either or both ABC/123 and I think that would be SO CUTE for teacher gifts!
jodycandydetail1

I covered each side with white embossed cardstock and then matted it with pink cardstock. Again, you only have to do 4 of the 5 sides, because you glue one under.

The dimensions of the cardstock pieces are: 2 3/8″ x 1 3/8″ and 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4″.

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | Bella, PaperTrey, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, April 18, 2009

Happy Saturday! It’s actually Friday night as I write this, so I assume that it is a happy Saturday. Hopefully the weather will hold up today {tomorrow} so we can make it to an outdoor birthday party. They are going to have a bounce house and that is a 50/50 shot at either “so much fun I can’t stop giggling” or “you think that I am going in there will all them?” Wish me luck!

**LOCALS**
Don’t forget that today is the GINORMOUS Garage Sale at Imprints in Fort Worth! I was down there the other day and there is going to be SO MUCH good stuff for sale! I hope to make it down there later. See ya there!?

Let’s make this sketch a wee bit more fun this week by adding in a little blog tart. I’ll draw a random participant next Saturday to win a little grab bag filled with goodies. Think ribbons, papers, flowers and bunches of other embellies! Just be sure to post a link on Mr. Linky below. If you have trouble with Mr. Linky, just email me and I will add you. {Note: Mr. Linky can take a few minutes to update}.

Ok, so here’s the sketch…

Here’s my sample, using Flamenco Ketto from Stamping Bella. It’s also part of the Bellarific Friday challenge from last week. You can see all the Bella Babes’ and participants cards HERE.

Papertrey Valentines…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, PaperTrey, cards | Thursday, February 12, 2009

Today is Ellie’s Valentine’s Day party at her school and I just **had** to make her Valentines to exchange. She fell in love with some princess mass production ones at the store. I got those for her, too, but she has just been coloring on them. Here is what I came up with…
ellievalentines

I started with a Pure Poppy {Papertrey} scalloped heart {Nestabilities} and topped it with a straight edge heart {again with the Nestabilities} cut from Kraft cardstock that I embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder. As you can see, my stitching leaves much to be desired…no surprise there, but I am getting a little better! I stamped the flower print heart in Pure Poppy ink on Stamper’s Select white and cut it out with scissors…no punch! I backed it with a sentiment flag and popped it on top of the Kraft heart using dimensional glue dots.

The reverse side is stamped with the XOXO stamp from the PTI set and I “signed” her name in white gel pen with a heart for the dot on the “i.” Tomorrow I will be showing you what I attached to these Valentines.
ellievalentineback4

I have been guilty of getting PTI sets and not using them, but I have been more selective in my choices and I have found that I am using my choices more. Case in point, Heart Prints and Fresh Alphabet. I used both to create this card…
iheartu

This layout is the result of tossing and turning because my brain can’t stop even when I desire sleep. I took several elements that I love to use and put them together on this card. I love the way that it turned out!

I have lots to show tomorrow…see ya then!!
