MFT Teasers, Continued…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards | Sunday, February 27, 2011

Tomorrow {Tuesday, March 1} is the new release from My Favorite Things. The DT is continuing to post teasers of all the new sets that are being released. I mentioned the other day that there is a little something for everyone in this release. So far I have shown cute and sassy, as well as simple and scrappy. Today I am doing something completely opposite…elegant.

The Inspired by Flowers sets is GORGEOUS! I love the Sweet Peas…

Although there are lots of layers, this is still a fairly simple card. I avoided fancy embellishments and let the new Dizzy Doily stand out from under the main image panel. This is a great die of substantial size that will add that little something to many cards.

Ok, I’m off to hang out with the Ellie Bellie. She just got back in town yesterday from being with family in California. She had a blast at Disneyland. We had a blast {ok, not really} painting her room…THREE coats of pink paint!! We are glad that she is back home. Pics of her room to come…it is SO CUTE!!!!!

Sayin’ It Simply…

As an fan of My Favorite Things, you may have noticed that they are constantly diversifying their product lines to accommodate the ever changing industry and to add more versatility in the ways the products can be used. This release has a few scrappy sets that are great for card making and scrapping. I love the set that we are doing MFT Teasers with today, SAY WHAT? It coordinates with the Say What? Die-Namics die set, too {even better, huh?}.

I decided to go with a simple style on this card, using the Simply Scallops Die-Namics {my FAVORITE ONE ever!} to create a background to the “XOXO” sentiment. The heart in the sentiment {in the Say What Die-Namics word bubble} is popped up a little for some added depth/interest..

I kept with the simple style on the inside, too…

Sweet & Sassy…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards | Thursday, February 24, 2011

It’s Teaser Time at My Favorite Things! The new release is just around the corner…Tuesday night to be exact. Holey Moley is there something for everyone in this release…elegant, cutsie, wild and scrappy are some adjectives that come to mind when describing what will be in store soon.

Speaking of wild, I let the Zebra print in the new set Sweet & Sassy take center stage as I created this card…

This set coordinates with the Sweet Stack Die-Namics dies {also being released Tuesday}. The zebra print is actually in the shape of the bottom die on the focal panel, but I stamped it twice {slightly overlapping the print} and then cut it out with the Simply Scallops Die-Namics to be able to use it at the top and bottom of my card, as well. I had to go with this color combination because the sentiments just remind me of my sassy teenager days. Please note the off center bow. It’s like my card has it’s own side ponytail. LOL!

And what’s the perfect word to follow “Seriously?”…

Simple {Verve} Card…

Posted by Jen | Verve, cards | Wednesday, February 23, 2011

It’s been a {long} while since I did I single panel card. EeEeEEeKk…NO LAYERS! I’d love to tell you that this took me a little less time than all my super layered, overly embellished, more is more {hi Jami} cards, but it didn’t. I mulled over the stamps {Verve’s Blue Skies}, the placement, the colors, etc. just the same. Not to mention that it did take a little bit of time to color {more on that in a second}.

In my Copic classes, I teach to always go light to dark when blending {and shadowing}; however, I decided to not heed my own advice and went against the grain {and everything I have done and been taught} and did dark to light. I worked from the inside of the butterfly wings outward using progressively lighter colors {a total of 5 color make this blend}. Sorry, I put the markers away before I wrote down which ones I used {tisk, tisk!}. Here’s a detail shot…

Busy day today! Gotta go get some more paint for Ellie’s {PINK!} room. She is going to be SO SURPRISED :) when she comes back from Disney! The lil’ man is ***this close*** to walking full time. Not to mention, I have a few projects that I am either working on or cultivating in my mind.

TCP Tuesday…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Happy Tuesday, y’all! I used to work with a guy that always said, “Happy ____” {insert day of week}. I constantly rolled my eyes at this, but now I realize that it’s kinda cute, kinda fun and well, an easy way to start of a blog post.

I feel like it’s already been a long week! I had to take Nic into the doctor last Friday and we were given a slew of meds for an upper respiratory infection. The meds have not exactly been fast acting and on top of just plain not feeling good, he’s cutting a couple of teeth. Poor thing! In good news, he decided to walk all the way across the living room on his own yesterday! I really thought that he would have been walking by his first birthday, but that came and went. Then I thought for sure he would be walking by Tony’s birthday {see cake below!}. That came and went {Sunday}. So yesterday when I was talking to my mom he went from his little play table to me and then it progressed to across the living room by that evening. Look out world…here he comes!!

Well, if you caught the title of this post then you are probably wondering when I will actually get to the point. I guess I will go ahead and do that, especially since Tony is threatening to watch How I Met Your Mother without me!!! Ack!!

Cat Packer, Sony, has a great color challenge for you this week for the TCP {The Cat’s Pajamas} Tuesday challenge…

I paired up PJ {love this guy!} from the A Beary Good Year set with his coffee mug and some Echo Park paper {more love here!}. I thought that I could insert a Starbucks gift card and send it off to a friend…

The pennant was created with the smaller of the Pennant CutUps dies from TCP. There are 2 sizes {small and large} dies that are available in this die set…

Ok, Tony is hollering at me to come chill out on the couch, so I gotta wrap this up. It’s the last night we will have to relax because we are going to be doing a home {room} makeover in Ellie’s room while she is away playing with Mickey Mouse this week! New paint, new bedding, new decor…oh my!! Yes, I will show pics when it’s all wrapped up! For now, enjoy Tony’s Chewbaca cake {made by a friend} that we enjoyed for his anniversary of turning 29 {again!}…
