Have a happy day! I’ll be back with some super fun ABC Friday projects! Also, the winner of the blog candy that I announced on Saturday still hasn’t contacted me. If anyone knows Jen Arkfeld, you might want to give her a little heads up or I might just have to double the goodness for a blog tart with the coming Saturday’s sketch.

A Coupla Cards…

Posted by Jen | Bella, Verve, challenges | Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Hey there! I’m back to blogging today. I just had to take off yesterday since I have been blogging non-stop lately. I absolutely LOVE each and every company that I design for, but I have come to realize that I need to be doing more “for fun” stamping and I will have some more time for that as I step down from a couple more teams in the coming months. Nope, I’m not saying who or when now.

Well, even though I didn’t blog yesterday I had a card to show you, but it is just gonna have to pair up with the card that I had planned to show today. Anyways, this is the Verve Stamps card that I made with the Medallion Plain Jane {embossed in gold} and the Because of You set {this is going to be a go-to set!}. I may just have to duplicate this card with a variety of sentiments!

Next, I have a card that you may have seen already over on the Bella blog. BTW-did you see the new releases? O-M-G! Favoritest Bella release ever! It’s for last week’s challenge to pink and brown. I haven’t used this stamp in a while, but I do love how versatile it is. Of course, I chose a pink ribbon because of breast cancer awareness being so close to my heart {my mom is a survivor!}.

Because Of You…

I am kicking off the Verve Stamps Project Parade today on the Verve Stamps blog. This month’s theme is:

It’s a Girl Thing: Celebrating The Women in Our Lives

Since Mother’s Day is fast approaching, I made a Mother’s Day project, but if you want to participate in the Project Parade contest please know that we are celebrating all women that are part of our lives. Have fun with it!

There is no doubt that times are tough right now and making our dollar go farther is what it is all about. With this in mind, I chose to do a project that would cost a minimal amount of money, but would be something that my mom would cherish for a long time. I started with a $1 frame from Michael’s, which I painted white and then dry brushed light pink on to create a slightly distressed look. For the center of the frame, I stamped the “Because of You” sentiment on patterned paper and matted it with Chocolate Chip (SU!) cardstock. For added detail, I stitched around the edges and then matted it again (with dimensional glue dots) on Old Olive (SU!) cardstock that I had embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. The word “Mom” was also stamped on patterned paper and then punched out and matted with Chocolate Chip and Old Olive, as well. I used flatback acrylic accents to embellish around the frame opening.

For the flowers, I used a combination of paper flowers cut from my Slice Noteworthy design cartridge. These could very easily be cut by hand, if you do not have the Slice machine. I gave the flowers texture by crumpling them up several times. Finally, I topped the paper flowers with Prima flowers, rhinestones and buttons. The swirls were also cut from my Slice Machine (Basics 3 Design Cartridge). To finish the entire project, I wrapped Olive grosgrain ribbon (SU!) around the edge of the frame.

In addition to my project for the Project Parade, I also have a couple more cards to share with you. These cards are easily made in mass production, yet, they can also be embellished more to make a fancier card. I know that some people can get intimidated when they see DT Members {of ANY team} do up super elaborate cards. I just wanted to show you how all stamping level friendly these stamps are. :)

Well, that’s all folks! Have a great day!

If Friends Were Purses…

I’d pick you!

Seriously, how cute is that sentiment? I’ve heard the one “If friends were flowers…” and love, it, but this one just gave me a good chuckle! The stamps used to create this card are from the Downtown Diva set from Taylored Expressions. I was a little nervous to use the larger image in the set, but I think that it may turn out to be one of my faves from the set.

Can you tell that I blinged this card out like crazy…well, crazy for me, at least! I used bling/embellies on the cherry on top of the cuppies, the purses in their hands and the purses on the circle panel. What do you think of the layout? I kinda likeeee! Maybe a good Sketch For You To Try? Lemme know your thoughts on this one. :)

BTW…Jen Arkfeld…see yesterday’s post!

SFYTT…

Happy Saturday! We’re off to another birthday party and then, as I noted yesterday, I am going to RELAX! This weekend is supposed to be rainy and gross. Tony believes that there is a conspiracy to make it sunny all week long and then rain on the weekend when he is home. It sure seems like it this would be the case, but I have a strong inkling that Mother Nature is not working directly against him. In fact, I think she is doing him a favor…you can’t do yard work when it is raining!

Thank you to everyone that participated in the Sketch For You To Try last week {and EVERY week!}. I promised a little somethin’ somethin’ to one participant. Who could it be? None other than…
