More MFT Images…

Posted by Jen | cards | Monday, April 30, 2007

Aren’t these images just darling?!?! I just got some new My Favorite Things images in the mail this weekend. I am so in love with this cake image from Kim’s new set, You Take The Cake. The small dotted panel is not DP, it is actually another stamp from MFT. The set is called Behind The Scenes and I can say that this is going to get used A LOT in my stamp room!! I used my aquapainter for most of the coloring. The black was all colored in with marker. The cake looks good enough to eat in real life!! I put Crystal Effects on the white portions and the icing is layered with Diamond Stickles. I wanted the candles to “glow,” so I took my aquapainter and colored a little Summer Sun outside the lines of the flames.

7 Things About Me…

Posted by Jen | random ramblings | Sunday, April 29, 2007

I was tagged to tell you 7 things that you may or may not know about me…

1. I went to Arizona State University and graduated in 2000 with a degree in Marketing. After a few jobs, I decided I didn’t like the corporate side of Marketing and eventually got my teaching certificate. I taught 3rd grade before Ellie came along.

2. I love frogs and turtles. When we first moved to Texas, Tony yelled from our front door to come outside. He had found a toad in our side yard. I think he was a little taken back by me going right over to it, then asking if knew what happened when you picked one up. He shook his head. I picked it up, and it peed. {{{eeewwww! gross, right?}}} I was a tomboy growing up and was always messing around with frogs, toads, turtles, tadpoles, crawfish, polywogs and all those other creatures that made the prissy girls scream in horror.

3. I met my DH online. Seriously. I wanted to move away from AZ and I made up my mind that I was either going to TX or CA. I had my heart set on Southern California, because I figured this was the one chance in my life that I would be able to just pick up and go. I was searching apartments in the San Diego area and shaking my head of the cost of living. I finally realized that I had to have a roommate or I would be living in a 300 square foot loft for $850 a month. I got on a roommate finding website and got an email one day from someone seeking a roommate for a downtown 2 bed, 2 bath condo. That was Tony emailing me!! We got to emailing, then talking, then visiting, then moving in together (yes, we were crazy!!…in love). About a year and half later we were married and the rest is history.

4. Some of my favorites include the color red, Italian or GOOD Mexican food (not Tex-Mex crap) and country music.

5.
I am an only child. For those of you who have met me, does this explain a lot?

6.
I played soccer for a long time, but then had to have knee surgery. I don’t think I ever completely bounced back from that injury. I was playing indoor soccer in San Diego and re-injured my knee. I pretty much know that I can’t ever play again unless I want to go ahead and plan on another surgery.

7. My 2nd toe is longer than my big toe. “They” say this is a sign of being stubborn. Me stubborn?…hahahahaha!!!

Name Tag & Challenge…

Posted by Jen | challenges, projects | Saturday, April 28, 2007

Well, I’m off to the Arlington Stamp Day! Last night I got to eat at Olive Garden and meet a bunch of fellow SCSer’s. WOW!! What a cool group of chicas they are! I am posting my name tag that I will be wearing today. As you can see it matches the door prize stuff. The flowers are Paper Frills {enabler alert!!}. I used Swarovski crystals for the bling bling. I forgot to take a pic of my card, so I will have to make another and post later. {{{Sorry!}}}

For the challenge…
When is the last time that you made something for yourself? I plan on keeping this name tag and posting it on a corkboard or something in my stamp room. So, my challenge to you is to make something just for you! Bonus points if you use your name. I’m not even posting guidelines…just have FUN!!! Can’t wait to see what you create. Be sure to link it on this post!

Arlington Stamp Day is Tomorrow!…

Posted by Jen | projects | Friday, April 27, 2007

I am so excited that the 2nd Arlington Stamp Day is tomorrow. I have never before participated in a shoebox swap, but am very excited to see what everyone has come up with. I will post my card tomorrow, along with the challenge.
As for today, I am posting the door prize that I am donating. When I first got to thinking about a door prize, I thought that I would make a couple things and bundle them up. Then I got to thinking (oh no, not that again!). We all love to create things on our own, so I put together a bunch of item that can be altered. Some of the stuff that I have included is a Target mailbox, a large composition book, a small composition book, a mini paper mache box, coasters, luggage tag holders, a Godiva coffee drink 4 pk…and a whole bunch more.

Of course I had to put something cute on the front of it. What in the world should I label this? Well, I kinda…no make that I did, snatch up the title “Alter This” from SCS. That pretty much says it all! The letters are cut with the Red Tag Sale Cuttlebug alphabet and the Primas are from Eclectic Paperie.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I know that I am going to have a blast this weekend eating with a bunch of other SCSer’s tonight, then stamping ALL DAY tomorrow.

Our Lives Are Forever Changed…

Posted by Jen | cards | Thursday, April 26, 2007

Ellie started crawling.

It’s time to take a little trip to Target and get all those plastic “can’t open the door” thingamabobs along with about 3 dozen light socket covers. Life as we know it has changed! LOL :)

On a different note, there are 2 birthdays coming up on Tony’s side of the family. Last night I whipped out the Butterfly Kisses set from PaperTreyInk {again!} and today I dove into the Ways To Use It challenge on SCS…use Orchid Opulence

Well, if you are anything like me, you don’t have time to read a whole bunch of jibber jabber, so I’ll get straight to the point and post these cards. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Oh, and by the way, 50K hits is just around the corner. It may be time for me to be putting together a little blog tart. What do you think??
