Digital Designs Day…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, MFT, projects | Wednesday, September 29, 2010

There are some new things on the My Favorite Things site, but it’s not stamps or dies. There are some great new digital templates and papers ready for you to download. Instant gratification, baby!! You can print and hand cut these files, or download the SVG file and send it to your Cricut {or other electronic cutting machine} for super instant gratification! One of these templates, the Full Circle Treat Box, is actually a design by yours truly. This is the perfect little treat box for any occasion. Of course, with Halloween on the horizon it was easy to grab my Tiny Town Halloween set to embellish the basic “box.”

What’s inside? Well, nothing for this photo shoot, but think of the possibilities!!!…
Candy {wouldn’t some candy corns look great here?}
Embellishments {buttons, bling, lengths of coordinating ribbon}
Fabric {felt!} Flower pin

In addition to this template {which is ONLY $1.95!}, and several others, there are some great Halloween Digi Papers that I can’t wait to print on Kraft cardstock! Don’t forget that you can print these on more than just white. Mix it up a little for added interest.

Want more template samples to peek at? Be sure to check out Kim’s/The MFT blog for a full list of players. She’ll have the list up by 11am EST.

What will you put in yours?

Halloween Project…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, projects | Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Ahhhh…fall is here! I love when I realize this! There is a crispness to the air and a feeling that I can only describe as “home” to me. A few years ago, we bought a TON of Halloween decorations on clearance after Halloween. Included in these decorations were 2 fake headstones, which I put in our front yard the following year. After Halloween was over, I packed everything up in some plastic tubs. Well…the headstones apparently still had some moisture on them when I put them away because when I opened up the tub the following year it was basically all mold! Talk about scary!! Needless to say, lots of stuff went to the curb, much to my dismay. I still haven’t recouped all that we lost, but I am slowly getting there. I am making stuff to go around the house right now. So far I have done 2 projects and this is one of them…

A little more about this project…

This all started out as a block of wood {about 8″x8″} that I had cut at Home Depot. The whole board only cost $5 and they did all the cuts for free {sweeeeeet!}. I painted the board black with acrylic paint and then adhered the strips of paper with Mod Podge. I really don’t like how things look when there is Mod Podge on top of the paper, but I wanted this to be something that would last through the years, so I went ahead and topped the paper with Mod Podge {and I kinda like how it looks!}. I cut the vinyl with my Cricut and how about that sentiment??!! I created that on my own with Make the Cut software {you can get that HERE}. The font is called “Kill Switch” and is downloaded from a free font site. I put the vinyl over the top layer of Mod Podge and then added my embellishments, as well. The bats are an EK Success punch that I covered with black glitter and then bow was created from a couple of different ribbon, tulle, a button with twine and some K & Co. spiders that I picked up a couple years ago {and I can’t stop using!!}.

Ok, I think that about covers it. Nap time is just about over and I have some stuff to get done. See you tomorrow for a template that I designed myself for My Favorite Things!

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | MFT, SFYTT 2010, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, September 25, 2010

Autumn greetings! They say fall is here, but as I type this on Friday afternoon it’s about 88 degrees with some terrible humidity smothering the air. The weatherman says a cooler week is in store for us next week…promises, promises!! Today we are going to a 1 year old birthday party and hopefully relaxing the rest of the day away. Well, as much relaxing as one can do with a CRAWLING BABY {yep, he’s on the move} and an active pre-schooler. At least it will be fun!

This week’s sketch has so many possibilities! A sentiment can play the lead, or you can choose to put a image front and center. Whatever you choose to do, have fun and just go with it! Here’s the sketch…

TCP Tuesday Color Challenge…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess, Sony, has GREAT color combo to work with for this week’s TCP Tuesday! This is gonna be a “go to” trio of colors for me!

tcptues127_color-challenge

I took out one of the many new sets from The Cat’s Pajamas, DEEP BREATH and stamped this sweet lil’ card…

Detail shot…
tcptues0921190_detail

I have to tell you that this bunny has totally won my heart! Adorable, sure, but he {she?} also has that TCP swank! As for the details, you can see that I used one of the new CutUps for the pinked edge border and I added a fun SPAR-KA-LAY snowflake that I have had in my stash {Me & My Big Ideas}. As you can see from the detail shot, I added some more bling on the fluff of bunny’s cap {I’m thinking my bunny is a SHE now…or a very Prince Poppycock boy bunny}.

Want to play along with this color challenge? Here are some deets to know…

1. Each a week one of The Cat Pack will host a challenge.
2. The challenges will vary {stamp, technique, color, theme, sketch, etc.}
3. You will have until the end of the month to complete the challenge.
4. Post your design using the Inlink Button to Alma’s Blog. Your design must be linked and visible to Alma’s Blog to be eligible.
5. TCP stamps are not required (unless the challenge calls for it) but we’d love to see them if you have them.
6. There will be one winner each month. They will be deemed that month’s Swankiest Stamper and get $25 in Cat’s Cash {money to spend on the TCP site!}.
7. The newly crowned Swanky Stamper will be announced on the First of the Month and have his/her winning entry posted on The Cat’s Pajamas website where he/she will reign for the entire month.

Good luck and happy stamping!
