Bella-rific Friday…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards, challenges | Friday, July 31, 2009

I was trying to wait until Emily posted the Bella-rific Friday post up on the Bella blog, but that hasn’t happened yet. I am going to go ahead and do this post, though. I usually don’t post my card that I did for the sketch on the same day that Emily posts all the cards. I decided to mix it up a little and go ahead and do that today. The sketch for this week can be found HERE. I went ahead and made a 4.25″ square. I like doing this size card because they fit into a regular envie and don’t require extra postage {bonus!}. Here’s what I came up with…

Can you tell that I am still in love with that Dream Street paper? It is probably my fave at the moment and I can’t get enough of it!! LOL! I think that I about to run out, so it won’t seem like such a re-run here. BTW, if you are not familiar with Bella-rific Fridays, you may want to check ‘em out, as Emily gives away some $$ to spend in the Bella store…helpful for weeks like this one where there was a super cute release.

Verve-a-licious Box…

Posted by Jen | Glue, Verve, projects | Thursday, July 30, 2009

I was planning on showing this for an ABC project, but since I forgot to do the card that I was going to show today I think that I will go ahead and pop this in a day early. I have had this blank Organizer Box sitting in my studio for what seems like forever. An idea recently struck me when I picked up this cute little $1 frame from Michaels. I thought that I could basically use the frame as a sort of face plate for the box. Inside the frame I used a sentiment from the Verve Stamps set, Just for You. Let me back up a little…

First, I painted the box black. Then I matted my DP from GCD Studios with Old Olive paper and attached it to the box. From there I cut the swirls and paper flower from the Wedding Slice cartridge. I assembled the sentiment in the frame, along with the flower to top it off. I added the rhinestones, and viola…

This is a little better shot showing that I painted the inside of the box, too…

Finally, I just wanted to show a corner shot so you can see the painting and the paper. I also chose not to take the paper all the way to the edge, which I think was a good decision and will make note of it for future projects…

Thinking of You…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Whimsical Wishes, cards | Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Over the past year of being on the Taylored Expressions DT, I have accumulated a lot of TE stamps…all of them, in fact. Oh, my…which one to choose to do this post!? I really did struggle with it. Did I want a cute little Cuppie or something a little different. I went with Branching Out, paired with a sentiment from A Year of Sweet Sentiments. The “Thinking of You” sentiment is actually included with Branching Out, too, but mine seems to have take a walk…EEK! Gotta find it!

The ribbon is from Jody {thanks, girl!}. She no longer has this particular type, but she does have some other VERY YUMMY ones available.

Also, I am playing around with my photos in PSE with the info I found in the GREAT tutorial written by Amy Sheffer HERE on SCS. If you have ever wondered how she gets her pics to look so SPECTACULAR, her “secrets” are all right there!! Thanks Amy!!

TCP Tuesday…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Greetings from rainy North Texas! Last time it was raining, Ellie and I were singing “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring…” and when we got to the part about the old man bumping his head she said, “Wasn’t he paying attention?” It cracked me up. She does that on a daily basis, though! Makes me smile!

Today is TCP Tuesday and I am your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess bringing you a fun and summer-y color challenge. What do you think of these colors?…orange, pink and blue, with the option of throwing in some green {ya know, for color…LOL}.

Crazy For Kettos…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards | Monday, July 27, 2009

As everyone gets on their way to CHA, I will be here. I wish I could go because I know that I can’t go to the winter show. The whole giving birth within days of the show gets in the way of that one. Next summer is a possibility; however, I will have 6 month old then. Are they taking reservations for Winter 2011, yet? LOL! Needless to say, I am a little bummed, but I know that it’s not the end of the world. Ellie is going to her first VBS this week and I plan to spend some time with Susan going to various fun places in town, and crafting and cleaning. I have super spy shoppers at the show for me, too, just in case there is anything that I *must* have *now.*

For today, I actually have a card that I made last week and forgot to post. The image is Phoebe Ketto from Stamping Bella. I love the whimsy and funkiness of the Ketto line! These are so fun to pair with bright color combos that pop.
This card is now on display at Scrapper’s Boutique, but the stamp is already sold out. More are on the way, though!

Speaking of Scrapper’s Boutique, I had a GREAT time teaching the Copic classes! Thank you to all the ladies that attended the classes! It was great to see familiar faces, as well as meet new ones! There are more classes already set up for August and September. Please call the store to get registered. :) BTW…she just got Copics in and they are priced right! If you are local, be sure to check ‘em out!
