MFT Teaser Time~Day One…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards | Thursday, March 31, 2011

Can you believe it’s already time for a My Favorite Things release? Yep, it’s just around the corner and today is the first day of MFT Teaser Time! Be sure to check out Kim’s blog for a full list of those peeking the new releases today.

MFT is constantly moving forward with new styles and lines and the set that I am previewing today is the perfect example of that. The new set, Own Your Story, is a bit scrappy, a bit vintage-y and a whole lotta fun!

I’m on a roll with 4.25″ square cards…

In addition to the Own Your Story set that comes out on Tuesday, I also used the Pretty Posies Die-Namics on the outside and the Four Point Frame and Simply Scallops Medium Die-Namics dies both on the outside and inside of the card. I really like that the images that I used that coordinates with the Four Point Frame is slightly larger than the die, making it very easy to cut out and not have to be so super precise.

Scrappy, Stampy, Verve-y…

Posted by Jen | Verve, cards | Thursday, March 31, 2011

What a beautiful morning! I’m going to keep repeating that over and over to drown out the sound of Mr. Cranky-Pants. There are some days that I wonder how I make it through {or how my kids do…LOL!}. I guess it could be {much} worse though, right?

Being on the Verve Inspiration Team has allowed me to explore some different styles with Verve stamps. So far, I have been pretty happy with the outcome. Today I am sharing a card that is a little more scrappy than most of my cards. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of stamping on it, too. It’s my style, just tweaked a little…

In the past, I have created an ATC {Artist Trading Card} and then attached it to a card. That’s kinda what I did here. My original plan was to make a set of tags using the Jotted Heart, Embossed Oval and Flutterby Verve dies. As I started putting everything together and playing with the papers and layouts, I realized that I should go ahead and turn it into a card. I have to say that I really like how it came out. The base of the card measures 4.25″ square, which still fits into a standard A2 envie. The papers on the base coordinate with the papers used on the main image panel. I did them a little “wonky” to be a little playful. I added all my favorite embellies…buttons, Baker’s Twine and {Doodlebug} rhinestones…for the finishing touches.

I’ve also had a lot of fun mixing and matching sets to fun and fresh Verve projects. This card uses…Text Objects, Love Notes and Chicks Rule {new!}. I used to mix and match a lot when I had all SU! stuff. It’s a nice reminder that you don’t always have to use the “here and now” release and give the other stamps some more love!

Well, it’s a stampy day today, so I better get a crackin’!

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | AmberInk, SFYTT2011, cards | Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Only a day+ left to enter your card/creation into this month’s {Amber Ink sponsored} SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY! I’ve been trying to get another AI card done, but my printer is giving me fits. Anyone else have an anti-cardstock printer? I swear it sounds like I am trying to feed my cat through it, rather than a slightly thicker piece of paper.

Here’s the March SFYTT again…

The Tweetest Things…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, blog hopping, cards | Monday, March 28, 2011

The newest “tweetest things” {stamps and dies} are now available from The Cat’s Pajamas. Sorry I missed “ya’ll” at the release party. Tony and I were wrapping up the errands from this past weekend {kids in tow, again!}. Done, done and done! {yay!}

It’s no secret that this release is super fabulous and today we are pairing TCP Tuesday with our new release blog hop. The Hipster Hostess with the Mostess, and start of the hop, is Julie and she has challenged us/you to make a shaped card. Be sure to check her site for all the challenge deets. I can’t even remember the last time I did a horizontal card, let along one in a shape other than rectangular. EEK! Well, I didn’t exactly take this to the next level, but I didn’t manage to conjure up this circular number using the new release The Tweetest Things {and the coordinating CutUps die set, Home Tweet Home}…

In addition to the cute lil’ birdie house, I made this card this non-A2 card. Pretty that doesn’t qualify as making a shaped card, but I wanted to show it here and now, anyway…

Well, I won’t hold ya here any longer. Keep on a hoppin’ along to Amy’s blog.

Some things are just better SIMPLY SAID. That’s the name of just one of the stamp sets that the The Cat’s Pajamas Cat Pack is sneaky peeking today. It’s a basic must have for every stamper with sentiments for every occasion that can easily be added to any your cards or projects.

Today I am showing you a couple super easy and reproducible cards {simply} using this set. This first card also features the Pinwheel and Grass CutUps dies…

Those cute lil’ hearts were cut from the Heart Trio CutUps die set from two different shades of pink cardstock.

Ok, I am wrapping this up quickly. We were running errands ALL weekend {WITH 2 KIDS in tow!}. I am exhausted and a little brain dead…and we didn’t even get everything done! Ugh! But before I go, I must let you know that there is a {release}party going on TONIGHT on the TCP Forum on SCS from 8-10EST. See ya there! Don’t forget to stop by Alma’s blog to see a full list of those Cat Packers sneak peeking today. Happy stamping {and shopping!}
