Sketch For You To Try…

And there goes another week! I did not want this week to end! Thursday was Ellie’s last day at school and I think that I was sadder than she was about the year coming to an end. She was just a little goofball. She really LOVED her teacher this year and looked forward to going to school {really it’s Mom’s Day Out with an educational twist} each and every time. Now I am in a little bit of panic mode! What the heck am I going to do with the kiddos all summer? Last year was easy enough to hang out at the pool, but I’m a little nervous about going to the pool and having to keep my eyes on two kiddos at all times. Ellie is getting better at swimming, but I would still want to be an arm’s length away if not in the kiddie pool. So now I have to think of other activities…indoor ones! It’s so hot already…and humid! I have a list of things to do, but I just need to get a plan into action. The VBS that she went to last year isn’t doing a program for young ones this year {not happy about this!!} so I am on the hunt for another one close by. So…eeeeek!! If you have any ideas that you want to share, please do!! I could use any and all of the help I can get!!…just don’t forget I will have a baby in tow, too!

I always seem to blab a little on each of these Saturday posts! I guess that’s what happens when I don’t blog every day like I used to {how did I ever do that?}. Anyways, let’s get to what you came here for…

Here’s my card using Verve Stamps. I’m really not diggin’ what I did with brads, but that’s how it goes sometimes, I guess. The lighting stinks, too. That’s what happens when you wait until the last minute and have to take a pic at 10pm. ;) I think this would be a fun “just because” card to give to someone with a package of M&M’s or one of those mini boxes of See’s or Russell Stover’s chocolates. The perfect little pick-me-up!

Skipping Stones Design Sketch…

Posted by Jen | Guest Designer, Skipping Stones Design, cards, challenges | Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Wednesday greetings! Today Tony is playing in the Colonial Pro-Am! Wowzas, how cool is that? He was supposed to be a caddy for a co-worker, but his co-worker got hurt and he was put into the spotlight of playing! Last night was the “Pairing Party” and he got paired with Kevin Na. I guess there were a few other pros to choose from, but his group voted for an early tee time. He said that he will be blogging about it here soon. Remember when he used to blog every month? Hopefully, we will be seeing the return of that soon! As for today, be crossing your fingers for him.

As one of the May Guest Designers for Skipping Stones Design, I have another sketch to share with you this week…

Here’s my take on it using Dandelion Dreams and Rustic Tiles
ssd4_butterflykisses

I used satin ribbon that I ruffled between the 2 main image panels. I really like the look of the distressed white paper with white stitching on top of the white base. I used the texture of this panel, rather than colors to create a layer that adds “pop.” The brown felt butterfly is from Heidi Swapp and I think I have had those in my stash for about a year. The butterfly’s “path” was created with a rhinestone swirl.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Alma…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Monday, May 24, 2010

Alma, the owner and creative mastermind of The Cat’s Pajamas, will be celebrating the anniversary of her 29th birthday here in a few days. The Cat Pack, along with a few of her fellow stamping friends have decided to make this TCP Tuesday into a little birthday bash just for her. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALMA!

Since this is a hop, you should have started at Amy’s blog, come from Kim’s blog and when you are ready to hop on you will be going to Katie’s blog.

This week’s TCP Tuesday challenge is brought to you by Cat Packer, Amy Rohl. She’s put forth the challenge to use wood. Get creative with this and break out the wood grain paper, a wood stamp {like the tree stump in Happy Camper} or anything else you think might fall into that category.

Here’s my take on it using Tutu Much {see the woodgrain floor?}…

Ok ladies, hop on over to Katie’s blog for some more birthday goodness! EDIT: Katie’s post is not up yet, please go on to CAROLE’S BLOG :)

Wowzas, that week flew by! Hauling myself to the gym and Ellie to swim practice daily makes for a busy week that goes by quickly! I have to brag on Ellie a little bit because she is doing SO WELL in swim lessons. She even jumped off the edge all by “her own self!” She can be timid about physical activity, so this is a big accomplishment for her. YAY ELLIE! I took video, but no stills. I will have to remember that for next week. :)

In all my mommy-braininess, I forgot to mention that I actually did last week’s SFYTT. I just posted it on Tuesday and forgot to mention that is was the sketch. Ooops! Something tells me that a few, if any, noticed this. I’m pretty good at ratting myself out, though :)

Ok, onto this week’s sketch…

Here’s my take on it using Verve Stamps. You’ll notice that the tall skinny piece has been eliminated off mine. Was that on purpose or accident? I’ll let you decide what happened ;)

Detail shot of the Primas that I spritzed with Shimmerz. This picture doesn’t do them to much justice, but they are pretty shimmery…

I made the card to give to Ellie’s teacher, Ms. Julie. Ellie absolutely ADORES her and she has made this year very special for Ellie! The other day her teacher had to come to our house to pick up some stuff and Ellie literally fell out of her chair when she saw Julie in our house. Fortunately, no injuries came of that!

This month’s Designer of the Month, Iwona, came up with this beauty…

Pretty Fabric Flowers…

Posted by Jen | Verve, projects | Thursday, May 20, 2010

Ok, I gotta give another weight loss update because I am pretty darn happy this morning…

Since about March 25th {can’t remember exact date}, I am down 16 pounds. Since January 6 {the day Nic was born} I am down 40 pounds. My goal is 17 more to lose and I hope to do that by my birthday in August, especially since we are planning some lake time around then!

You may have seen this project on the Verve Blog the other day, but I wanted to post it here, too. This month’s theme for the Verve Project Parade is SIZZLIN’ SUMMER FUN! I made a tag that has a detachable flower pin that someone can use for a brooch or to put on their purse, beach bag, necklace or they can even attach it to a hair band. I’ve seen a lot of these type of flowers on different blogs and magazines for the past several weeks, so I thought I would give it a go. I went to YouTube and searched “Fabric Flowers” and came up with a couple tutorials that helped me to create my project. Here are those tutorial links…

Here are a few more shots of the flower that I cut from fabric {purchased at Hancock Fabrics} with my scallop circle Nestabilities…

Sorry about the watermark right over the center. I saved the pic before I moved it. The center has green felt from FELT ON THE FLY {Etsy} and a Sparkler from Webster’s Pages

The pin is attached to the felt using Zip Dry. For the backing, I just used felt from Michael’s. I am saving the Merino wool felt for parts that you can actually see :)

These are pretty addicting when you start making them! I’ve already made a few more and have some more fun ideas that I will be posting here soon {hopefully!}. Have a great day!!
