WooHoo…Or Should I Say “Moo Moo” It’s Saturday…

Speaking of Moo Moo {as in muumuu} I just have to laugh at this picture…
angelina_jolie2.jpg
Yes, she’s pregnant, gorgeous and glowing. But, no matter how you embellish it…it’s still a muumuu Angie!! Just imagine if it had a couple of pockets! LOL!

Anyways…before I get to the Sketch For You To Try…onto a different tangent. I took a few pics of Ellie yesterday while she was watering plants and playing outside on her new little play set, which is affectionately called “Ellie’s Park.” Right now she is actually scared of it because she took a tumble {she’s ok!} and wants nothing to do with it. Hopefully that will be worked out in the next few weeks. She is also deathly afraid of the pool this year, too. I think I may have claw marks on my back from walking around in the shallow end with her on my hip. Again, hoping for a turnaround.

Then, I chopped off all her curls! Her hair was just getting out of control, so I gave her a little bob. You can kinda see it in this pic…

Isn’t she the cutest??

Ok, now for the sketch…

I’ve been telling you all week that it’s crazy, so what do you think?

You can see samples from Amy, Carole, Shannan and Susan on their blogs; just click on their names. Here’s my sample using My Favorite Things stamps…

The DP is from Imaginesce {yep, it’s the same stuff from a few recent posts…sorry!} and the top panel is Cuttlebugged.

May’s Guest Designer, Toni Whitnell, created this beauty.

I hope you will want to play along with us! I really do look forward to seeing everyone’s creations. I know that I am a little behind on the comments, but I want you to know that I do see them. I take a peek whenever I get a moment. As always, be sure to link your creation to this post and if you upload to SCS, please use the keyword SFYTT. Have a great long weekend. I’ll be back on Tuesday, as I am giving myself a little break and some time to catch up and get ahead on Monday.

ABC Friday~Teacher Gift Ensemble And A Serious Enabler Alert…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey, Verve, cards, projects | Friday, May 23, 2008

TGIF! So how many of you raced out to see the new Indy movie already? Tony is going today with one of his buddies. I told him that I can either go see it with him again or catch it on DVD. I didn’t watch a whole lot of movies when I was a kid, so the thrill and excitement of this is all going past me pretty much. HOWEVER, I do plan to go see the new Sex & The City movie!!
Today I have a whole gift set to show you. Ellie goes to a little Mom’s Day Out program and they let out for summer {BOO!} next week. Her “teachers” have been so incredibly sweet and I wanted to do a little something for them. I combined the new Petals and Stems set from Verve Visual with PaperTrey Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush and Spring Moss colors. I also used their new Kraft paper. I really like the weight of this Kraft cardstock, although it seems to have a lot more visible fibers than the SU! Kraft.

Here’s a pic of the everything…
teachergiftset_all.jpg

It all started with the card I made. I just took the design elements from the card and incorporated it in with the other stuff. The sentiment on this card is from the Set Thankful Blossoms from Verve.

I made a small genie bag with matching tissue paper to put all the goodies in…

Post-It note holder {with velcro closure} with a matching pen..

Glassine envie {medium size} with 4 Ghirardelli chocolate squares…

Luggage bag tag with PaperTrey ribbon…

The scalloped rectangle is a Nestabilities die and letter is cut from the Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet. These are so easy to make!! You can get a package of badge holders in the office supply section of Wal-Mart and you can punch a couple of extra holes in the top to tie lots of ribbon to. The binder ring is also from the Wal-Mart office supply section, and it makes the perfect “clip.”

So, do you want to be seriously enabled?? Check out the new Cuttlebug stuff HERE!

Have A Magical Day…

I have to say that something must be in the air. Saturday I posted a scrappy card; something that I very rarely do. Yesterday I post a card with bright colors, which as you may know, is not entirely me. Then today, I post a card with DP that I love and am not hoarding. I have said in the past that I am not the biggest fan of DP, but I guess I am turning over a new leaf. Actually, I think it’s just the circle of creative life. Evolution, if you will.
bella_friends.jpg
I just love this sentiment. I have actually had it for quite some time now, but just recently it has gotten a little inky love. I think it’s perfect for birthday cards or those ‘just because’ cards. Both the sentiment and the image are from Stamping Bella. The image is colored in with Copics. On parts of the image, I did not blend the colors as much because I wanted it to have somewhat of a cartoony {yep, it’s a word!} appearance. The paper is from DCWV Nana’s Nursery. This is actually from the boy pack, which hasn’t been getting as much love as my girl paper pack. If you don’t have these papers yet, Joann’s has been running 40% off of them for a while now. It’s a great deal for YUM-O paper! I must say that I do think that the DP really made this card. It’s a very very simple layout with a large colorful image. I needed to bring everything together and I think this paper was the perfect answer. I have to tell a little sidenote story… When I was creating this card a commercial for Sleep Experts {mattress company selling their mis-matched mattress/box spring sets} came on. Right about the time I was finalizing my paper decision, the commercial lady says, “You wouldn’t put polka dots with plaid…” I just thought, “Oh yea, watch me.” LOL!! While I probably wouldn’t pair these for an outfit, I sure do like how they look on the card together! As for my finishing touches, I used the ticket corner punch from SU! on the large purple polka dot panel and then attached brads to the corners. The ribbon is PaperTrey’s new Lavender Moon twill. I have a feeling that this will be something that is going to be a standard in my studio now! The little girl’s necklace has Liquid Pearls and her crown is topped off with itty bitty Swarovski crystals.
I’ll be back tomorrow with ABC {Anything But a Card} Friday and on Saturday I have a very interesting Sketch For You To Try. Have a MAGICAL day!

Take Time…

Posted by Jen | cards | Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Take Time To Enjoy Your Day…isn’t that a wonderful reminder to just take a step back and relax and enjoy the moment?! Last night Tony and I got a moment to sit down and enjoy a movie together. He was nice enough to let me pick the movie and I chose P.S. I Love You. Have you seen this? OMG, did I cry and cry and cry! I am kind of a wimp when it comes to thinking about love and death. I cried more than I cried at the Notebook. LOL! I am such a girl! I thought it was a great movie and it was certainly chocked full of lots of talented people. Plus, Harry Connick, Jr. isn’t too rough to look at for a couple of hours! Well, I’m on a hunt for the book now. I’m sure I’ll need to have a box of tissues right next to me during that read!

Back to what this stamping blog is about…

chf_turtle_enjoyyourday.jpg

This image and sentiment are from Cornish Heritage Farms. The heat of the upcoming summer must be getting to me because I went with bright colors again. The turtle is colored with Copics and then cut out and mounted on dimensional glue dots. It looks really cool in person to have him popping off the card. The double-sided DP is from Imaginesce and is called Tea Party from their Let’s Pretend line. This is some of my favorite DP of all time. It’s not that easy to find, especially when there are no scrapbook stores around here anymore. So, I am forced to hoard it. FORCED, I tell ya! As for the finishing touches, I put a strip of red felt ric-rac on along the bottom of the center panel. I love the texture and dimension this gives to projects! It is from Creative Cafe, along with a few of those buttons you see. Although, I think a couple of those buttons are just from my stash.

Lots To Share Today…

Posted by Jen | MFT, The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Today is a busy busy day! It’s the 20th of the month, and it’s a Tuesday. “So?” you ask. What does all that mean? Well, every month on the 20th it’s both Celebrating MFT Day and when the Dirty Dozen and Alumni post their challenge projects. Since it’s Tuesday, that means TCP Tuesday. So, let’s cut out the yipyap and get down to bizness…

First, I have been holding onto this pic of a bunch of cards I made for some MFT business stuff. I made 10 card fronts using the Rain Or Shine set. I paper pieced each one with Memory Box paper. This is set is so much fun because her jacket has endless possibilities. Not to mention, that you can make her matchy-matchy with the pooch!

Next is my card for the DD/DDA Challenge. Here are the deets for this month:

Challenge Focus: Owls. If you don’t have an owl image you may use any flighted fowl to play.

Required Element: Texture. You may interpret this any way you like - please explain in your upload description

Restricted Element: No crystals/rhinestones or dew drop type embellishments.

I used a owl from a Sassafras Lass set that I got from eBay. The flowers are from Prima and serve as my texture, along with the seed beads that are in the centers. I realize that his eyes look weird, but I tried everything!!! I think it’s just the image that is weird, too!! LOL!

Finally, it’s TCP TUESDAY and this week’s Hipster Hostess With The Mostess is my good friend, Carole. She came up with an inspiration challenge. This week’s challenge is to choose a sitcom for it for inspiration. I chose Scrubs. It’s one of Tony’s and my favorite shows to watch together. Here’s my Dogtor’s Orders card…
