Blah, Blah, Blah Plus Canines and Cookies…

Anyone else hoping to get all their holiday shopping done by Thanksgiving? Usually, I like the hustle and bustle of the holidays. The thought of having to fight for my own space while being preggers makes me want to vomit! How’s that for holiday spirit?! LOL! Of course, this downer comes after the airport last weekend…

We got in about 11pm and Tony took Ellie to get the car {believe me, that was the bigger hassle of the two} and I went to go get the luggage. I left with 2 bags and came home with 6 {5 if you count the backpack that Tony had on him}…thanks to Tony’s shopping and very generous baby shower gifts! I knew that I could wait inside, but decided to make it to the curb so Tony would not have to park, unload Ellie and come find me. I had 2 rolling bags, 2 shopping bags and my purse {believe me, it’s a bag!!}. I put the 2 shopping bags on top of the 2 rolling bags and started to make my way out. Well, one of the shopping bags kept falling, the handles ripped, etc. It was more of a pain than it was probably worth, but I wanted to get to the curb. Would you believe that not one person helped a pregnant lady at now darn near 11:30pm until I was almost outside and the bag fell off again? Plenty of people looked, but no one helped. As someone that keeps the door open for someone behind me, etc., I found this to be quite rude. Yea, I know that I shouldn’t expect help but it sure as hell would have been nice to see a little human decency.

So enough of my blah, blah, blah and onto my stampin’ stuff! These project feature more The Cat’s Pajamas new release from this week. The first is a card that uses a combo of stamping, cutting, punching and {Slice machine} die cuts to create a very 3 dimensional card…

I embossed the small snowflakes with a transparent pearl embossing powder {Stampendous} and then punched them out with a small circle punch to create ornaments for the tree…

This next recipe card project was a lot of fun to make using the new TCP Glitzy glitter and Coolvetica alpha…

ABC Friday Project…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Holidays, projects | Friday, November 6, 2009

Greetings from beautiful North Texas!! It’s been a while since I have been able to say that, so I figured I should probably take the opportunity to do so! This week has been absolutely gorgeous and I think that the temps even hovered around 80 degrees yesterday…which happened to be the day that I spent working and running around like a crazy woman. I went to my OB yesterday and I am right on track for a bib healthy baby boy in January. I have started to go every other week now and I am sure that baby boy del Muro {still not named} will be here before we know it. Ellie is very excited to be a big sister and we have been trying to prepare her for what babies are really like, but I am fairly certain that she has no clue what she is in for!! LOL! She said that she can’t wait for him to play the prince when she wants to play princesses. That should be amusing!

I actually have an ABC project for you this Friday! It’s not exactly something new and inventive, but I like it all the same. I came across this template a while ago, and consider it my go-to gift card holder.

I made these for the local coffee shop owner. They are made with Old Olive and Bashful Blue cardstock from SU, along with white cardstock from PTI and Basic Grey patterned paper. The coffee stamp set is Let’s Get Together from There She Goes. Finally, I added ribbon that I picked up at Target a year or so ago in their party/wedding section.

These were pretty easy to mass produce, which I normally don’t do. I just cut and prepped each of the pieces, lined ‘em up and popped it all together…viola! Well, lots to do today, so I am jetting off and will be back tomorrow for another SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY…and a wonderful new Designer of the Month. See ya then!!

Spooky greetings! Do you have fun plans for this Halloween? I am working a few hours today and then we are going to have a great time Trick-or-Treating tonight. In my personal life, I am in a very Halloween-y mood, but in my creative life I am focused on the upcoming holidays. I pretty much had to force myself to create a Halloween card for this week’s sketch! I just couldn’t post a Christmas card {of my own} on Halloween! I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween! I hope to have pics…assuming I don’t forget the camera AGAIN…next week!

Well, here’s the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY for this week…

Trick or Treat…

Posted by Jen | Glue, Holidays, projects | Monday, September 21, 2009

Happy Monday All! I had a great time this weekend. I taught at Scrapper’s Boutique on Saturday and then on Sunday we went to the Fort Worth Zoo with some friends and their kiddos. Ellie scraped up her knees pretty good when she was running around after lunch, but was cheered up quickly with a chocolate ice cream cone and front row seats to the animal show.

Today I am excited to show you a cute lil’ project featuring another one of the Organizer Boxes from Glue Art & Paper Studio. I turned this one into a sweet candy holder for Halloween. It doubles as decor for my front table…BONUS! Just don’t ask how long the candy will last between now and Halloween!

The lettering is from the Slice Spook Alley design card {love this card!} and is cut from Bazzill Swiss Dots black paper…

Since the box comes “bare,” I started by painting it black with a foam brush. I like using a foam brush because I am less likely to get streaky lines that are sometimes left behind from a bristle brush. The pumpkin paper on the front is from Reminisce and is matted with white cardstock for a tiny bit of “pop.” The green paper that is punched with a Martha Steward border punch and stitched on is from My Little Shoe Box {such a cute co. name!}. The black polka dot paper on the sides is from Martha Stewart. On top of that black polka dot paper I die cut a couple of spiderwebs with the Spook Alley design card. Finally, I dumped put some colorful lollipops in to make it complete. Before I forget the itty-bitty details…the bat punch is from Martha Stewart and I covered them in black Stickles and the black rhinestones are Taylor’s Tiny Twinkles.

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, April 11, 2009

Happy Saturday! Tony had yesterday off of work and we ran some errands and planted some flowers in the front yard. I still have a bunch more to plant, but it’s starting to look good. I love having lots of color in our planters and I really want to win “Yard of the Month.” Silly, I know, but I just want to win it once and I think that once all these flowers grow in that maybe…just, maybe I could get it! Once I get all done, I will be sure to post some pics.

Alright, down to BIZNESS! Here’s the sketch for this week…

Fun and funky, right? I had A LOT of fun with this one and I really hope that you will give it a shot! Here’s my sample…

I have to admit that it takes A LOT for me to pick up a stamp at a major retail chain. Maybe I sound like a bit of a stamp snob, and I probably am, but I already have so many stamps and I really like supporting smaller companies. However, when I saw this stamp at Hobby Lobby from Stampabilities I fell in love! He’s just so darn cute! I didn’t have any yellow flock, but I colored his tummy a darker yellow and then flocked over it in white. The flowers are cut from my Slice machine…sorry if I over doing it with these Slice flowers, but I LOVE ‘em!!

Here’s is this month’s Designer of the Month, Kimberly Crawford’s, clever sample. I love how she embossed the clear panels!
