ABC Friday Project…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Holidays, projects | Friday, November 6, 2009

Greetings from beautiful North Texas!! It’s been a while since I have been able to say that, so I figured I should probably take the opportunity to do so! This week has been absolutely gorgeous and I think that the temps even hovered around 80 degrees yesterday…which happened to be the day that I spent working and running around like a crazy woman. I went to my OB yesterday and I am right on track for a bib healthy baby boy in January. I have started to go every other week now and I am sure that baby boy del Muro {still not named} will be here before we know it. Ellie is very excited to be a big sister and we have been trying to prepare her for what babies are really like, but I am fairly certain that she has no clue what she is in for!! LOL! She said that she can’t wait for him to play the prince when she wants to play princesses. That should be amusing!

I actually have an ABC project for you this Friday! It’s not exactly something new and inventive, but I like it all the same. I came across this template a while ago, and consider it my go-to gift card holder.

I made these for the local coffee shop owner. They are made with Old Olive and Bashful Blue cardstock from SU, along with white cardstock from PTI and Basic Grey patterned paper. The coffee stamp set is Let’s Get Together from There She Goes. Finally, I added ribbon that I picked up at Target a year or so ago in their party/wedding section.

These were pretty easy to mass produce, which I normally don’t do. I just cut and prepped each of the pieces, lined ‘em up and popped it all together…viola! Well, lots to do today, so I am jetting off and will be back tomorrow for another SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY…and a wonderful new Designer of the Month. See ya then!!

Verve Release Day…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Verve, cards | Friday, October 23, 2009

Have you been following all the sneak peeks on the Verve blog? I know that I am surrounded by a mountain of talent on that team, yet each month I am blown away with what the sneak peeks hold. I love that!

I have several projects that I can’t wait to show you, but I am going to do it a few at a time here. This is the first card that I created with Christmas in the Air, my favorite of the new sets…

winterwonderland_snowflake

The snowflake was created with the Cricut machine on thin chipboard, then painted white and partially coated with Diamond Glaze and Diamond Dust. I then topped it off with a ribbon and a bow. The paper pieced tree matches the green button and gives the card the “pop” of color that it so desperately needed.

My second {and last} project to show today…
christmastags

christmastags_ornaments

As you can see, all of these project use non-traditional Christmas colors. I am totally loving stepping away from the usual red and green of the season. It’s fun to bring in oranges and pinks to combo with silvers and such. There’s lots more samples on the Verve blog and there will be even more to see at the Verve release party tonight on SCS. You can read more about the party HERE.

Today is the first day of Ellie’s physical therapy. We are hoping for a turn around on the ability to run and jump within the next few months. I am very positive about all of this and I am looking forward to watching my sweet lil’ girl grow more and more each day. She is going to be such a wonderful big sister! The other day our dog jumped on me and she immediately belted out, “Abby off!! That’s my brother in there!” Yesterday, she drew a picture of me with a huge circle for my belly, which says “just keeps getting bigger, and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger!” I hope she’s willing to tell me how small it gets after baby boy del Muro gets here!!!

Well, I’m off for now. See ya back here tomorrow :)

ABC Friday: i {heart} Prism…

Check out the Blog Candy for a Cause on Nikki Schmaltz’s blog!!

Greetings and TGIF! On Monday it seemed like it should have been Friday already and now that it’s Friday, I’m sitting here thinking “Already!?” This morning I am doing my glucose tolerance test…blech! I am now 27 weeks along and feeling great! I am HUGE already, but thoroughly enjoying my pregnancy. I don’t have any new pics to show, but when I do I will be sure to share.

Today, I am being introduced as one of the October Guest Designers on the Prism Blog. I created a “Boo Box” for the blog post. Here is a lil’ sneak peek of my design {full pics of this project on the Prism blog}…

Here’s another project that I created using Prism Papers…

I created this little bag as a giftie for one of Ellie’s teachers. I started with a piece of kraft cardstock measuring 9″ x 6″. Along the 6″ side, I scored at 1.5″, 4.5″ and 6″. Along the 9″ side, I scored the paper at 1.5″. This created a bag that measured 1.5″ on the sides, 3″ on the front and back and 1.5″ depth. I used my Nestabilities to create the window in the front, which is lined with acetate on the inside. For added detail, I created a handle and flag-ended the ends and added buttons tied off with twine. The apple is from a die cut sheet from Cosmo Cricket that I have been hoarding and the sentiment {also flag-ended} is from Papertrey. The sides are embossed with the Argyle Cuttlebug embossing folder. Finally, I filled the bag up with some yummies…Werther’s.

Prism Paper used: White Prismatic (W031-D), Blush Red Dark (R049-E), Spring Willow Medium (G431-D), Kraft BR270-D

EDITED TO ADD…
My comments are apparently not working on my blog at this time {noon on Friday}, but should be {better be} up later tonight!

EDITED TO ADD… some more…
Everything is working again!

Blowin’ It Up…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, random ramblings | Friday, October 9, 2009

Ellie’s often says something or makes some sort of face that cracks me up. Recently, she was attempting to blow up a balloon and watch it expand with air at the same time. This is the picture that I captured…

So, here’s what’s been happening around here…

I am off to Phoenix on Saturday with Ellie for a very quick trip to visit my parents. I haven’t seen them for a while and probably won’t again until after baby boy del Muro is born, so I am looking forward to this trip…and my mom’s homemade crepes!

This week I wasn’t feeling all too well. I had awful abdominal cramping. I went to my OB just make sure that it had nothing to do with baby. Everything is fine and baby is secure in his current home for the next 14 weeks. Geez…that doesn’t seem all that far off now that I say it like that!

I have been working on a few of Prism Guest Designer projects. A couple of them with be featured exclusively on the Prism blog and I will have another for you with this week’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.

The Verve Project Parade continues on the Verve Blog. You could win some serious $$ to spend in the Verve store for playing along. My project was sneaked here on my last post.

The Cat’s Pajamas is gearing up for another release a week from Tuesday. I know that seems far off now, but I thought I would give you the head’s up. Also, Alma just sent the DT their holiday release kits and O-M-G! That’s all I gotta say now.

See ya tomorrow for a new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY!

What I’ve Been Up To…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, projects, random ramblings | Friday, October 2, 2009

Greetings all! It’s a beautiful fall morning here in North Texas. There is certainly a little chill in the air, which is perfect because I am having a garage sale this weekend. Apparently, I am a glutton for punishment! Hopefully it will all be worth it. I had a dream that no one came today. Let’s hope that is not the case because I have 9 boxes of preemie-3T girls clothes to unload. That’s a whole lotta clothes, not to mention everything else.

Other than that, I am continuing to work at Ellie’s school. No more “major” incidents like pulling out “business” in the middle of class, etc. I am also teaching and working at Scrapper’s Boutique. Everything with Baby Boy del Muro is going great! I went for my check-up yesterday and all is well. He’s a feisty lil’ man in there! Even at 24 weeks I can feel him kicking HARD! I can only imagine what it will be like in the later weeks/months. I am getting pretty hugs, too. He’s a del Muro boy for sure…Tony is 6′7″!

Of course, I have been crafting here and there, too. It’s really hard to find the time to get things done these days. I was so used to having a couple days a week when I could truck through stuff. Now that I am working through those same hours, I am beat down and just want to rest when there is a free moment. I did; however, find the time to make this SPOOKY banner… {click on the smaller images to make them pop up larger}

spookybanner1

spookybanner2

spookybanner_close

I made the banner using Bazzill Swiss Dots black cardstock, along with Prism and Papertrey cardstocks. The font is cut from the Slice Spook Alley design card {lovin’ that card!!}.

Ok, well that’s it for today. I have to go get ready for this garage sale. Wish me luck!!
