ABC Monday {long post}…

Before I get started, I wanted to let you know that Jessice Griffin is giving away a DAR-LING gift tin away on HER BLOG. Super duper cute!

No, I am not switching over to ABC Monday, but it just seemed fitting for today since I have a couple ABC projects to show. These are from the new releases from Verve Stamps. Some of you may have seen these if you were at the Verve release party.

This first one is from Delightful and Delicious

My inspiration for this project is Starbucks {duh, right?}. I wanted to use the coffee theme with their {general} colors to create a gift set to give a girl friend. Inside the cello bag are chocolate covered espresso malt balls {say that five times fast!}. Oh boy do these smell DE-LISH! I made tag to match the card and then attached one of the key fob Starbucks gift cards with a ball/chain. You’ll notice that I mixed fancier embellishments {the frosted bonbons from Stamping Bella} with a button tied off with twine. I like the look of mixing these two styles! Note that it really can’t be done on a large scale. For the card, I broke out my crimper to create “wrap” like you would put around your cup. You’ll notice that I paper pierced just the bottom half of the circle, using a plastic canvas circle.

This next project is a gift set using the set, A Cup of Life

This gift set is really quite simple. I made a fancy tag to dress up what otherwise might be a pretty dull giftie. I found the tea cup at Goodwill for 75cents and then added some shortbread cookies and a couple bags of tea. the shortbread cookies were already wrapped in cellophane, but I went ahead and put them in another cello bag so that I could easily tie on the tag. It’s kind of difficult to tell by pictures, but on the tea pot, I cut out the center part and mounted it on dimensional glue dots. Also, you can see that I used some of the same paper {Papertrey polka dot} and embellishments {Bella’s bonbons and buttons with twine}. I had a lot of these elements sitting on my desk from the coffee set and figured if I liked them on that set, that they would go well on this one. I mixed up placement and use a little to create an original project.

Like many of you, I am relishing this last week before school starts. Lots to do and gotta get all that summer fun in before the madness starts :) Have a great week!

Cootie Catcher…

I saw this idea a few years back on Martha Stewart and have created a few different ones that have had various themes. Lots of fun to make…be ready to time travel to your youth while creating these! When viewing this pic, just pretend that there are nuts inside the little compartments…

I used the new stamp set from The Cat’s Pajamas, Happy Camper and paired it with Mr. Campy paper from Cosmo Cricket. This project is fun to customize to any theme. They make great table toppers for baby and bridal showers. I think when I saw them on the Martha site that she had put sprinkles and such in them for an ice cream sundae party…cute, right!?!

ABC Friday~I SCRAPPED…

YAY, it’s Friday! That means tomorrow is the BIG N. TX swap. I think I am ready; I just need to pack my bag. It also means that brand spankin’ new swanky stamps are released!! YAY!…the new release from The Cat’s Pajamas can be found HERE {they can also be purchased in a money saving bundle HERE}. There’s 2 new sets, plus new ribbon and buttons {the good stuff, ya know!}.

So, since it’s ABC Friday, I have “Anything But a Card” to show you…specifically, a scrap page. No, I do not scrap on a regular basis, but I made this sample for TCP and I knew when I saw the stamps that they would do great on cards and pages. I do have to tell you one thing…I have no idea who those kids in the pic are. We don’t camp, and I wanted a super campy page, so I lifted it (I can’t find the credit right now, but will try to find it soon and post the photographer). Susan also did a scrap page with this set; you can see it HERE.

In the pic above, the car/camper and the “I’m a Happy Camper” sentiment are clear embossed.

Yep, that’s the swanky new alpha, along with new buttons, too.

Hope everyone has a great Friday! See you tomorrow for another Sketch For You To Try.

ABC Friday…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Verve, projects | Friday, May 22, 2009

Good Intentions…the road is paved with them, right? My intention was to have 3 ABC projects done for today’s post. Truth be known, 2 are done, 1 has been photographed and the other is in pieces on my desk. Hopefully I will have the other 2 done and photographed so I can show them at the Verve Stamps Release Party HERE tonight! :)

This project is something super easy that you can put together for any occasion. I used the new set, Sweet On You, which has a ton of little sentiments that I meant to be used with different candies. This sentiment, “You Color My World,” is one that can be used with different colorful candies like Skittles, M&Ms, Jelly Bellies or Twizzlers {or any other colorful candies}. I used a package of multi-colored Twizzlers that I picked up at the grocery store. Other products that you could do with this sentiment include: crayons or little nail polishes.

Here it is with the candy pulled out {again, click on the pic for a larger view}…

To make this project, I started out with 2 pieces of white cardstock measuring 8″ x 4″. I glued THREE sides {you need to keep one un-glued for the opening} and then sewed those same 3 sides. I then took strips of colored DP measuring 3.5″ x 1.5″ and glued them to the front of my pocket. Next, I took a circle Nestabilities and used it to create the “dip” at the top. From there, I just embellished. Easy peasy! I think that I might try to do another and start with a little bigger piece of paper, but sew as if it were 8″ x 4″ and then pink the edges. Cute, no?

Alright, I’m outta here for now. Off to go feed the baby geese by our house. Don’t worry, I have seen the family be very social and not aggressive :)

Happy Friday!…

Well, I didn’t get as much done as I needed/wanted to yesterday, but I do have a couple of things to show you today. I guess the pics of graduation fall under the “ABC Friday” category, but I told ya that today was gonna be a little bit of a catch up day, too.

Tony graduated from TCU with his MBA last week. We only went to the short ceremony…thank goodness! I don’t think that Ellie could have sat still for the 3 hour program on Saturday!! She was so cute! When Tony was on stage she yelled “YAY, DADDY!” so that everyone could here. It was, of course, followed by a crowd full of “Awwww”s. Here a few pics from the big evening…

Now, on to the stamping portion of this post…
Both of the cards that I have to show you today use Stamping Bella stamps. The first one is actually from last week’s challenge to make a birthday card. The second is a fun one that will be going to a “rockstar.”
