Welcome Little One…

Posted by Jen | cards | Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Don’t you love when you get to make baby cards? I love when a new little one makes their debut, not only for the sweet gift that they bring to this world, but I get to make a baby card, too!!! I had drawn out the sketch from the Joy Of Card Making {Paper Crafts} call and used it for this card. At first I was a little intimidated with the location of the sentiment, but it turned out to be easy peasy with my Thickers stickers {love those!}.

Detail shot of the heart…
kylescard_detail.jpg

The heart is from a glitter chipboard alphabet set from Making Memories. Behind it, I put a piece of Kraft paper that I ran through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder {only $5 at eclectic Paperie}. The Kraft polka dot patterned paper is from SU! {it’s the level 1 hostess paper pack…love this, too!}. I inked up the Papertrey Ink sentiment, stamped it on pink paper and then flag edged that panel for a finishing touch. Other finishing touches include the straight and crazy stitching, as well as the Prima flowers centered with brads.

Tomorrow is my day to host the Meet The Verve Diva challenge over on the Verve forum on SCS. I hope you will join me there and maybe get to know me a little better ;) We are off to play with instruments and sing “Peanut, Peanut Butter…and Jelly!” at Wiggles and Tunes this morning.

If You’ve Got It, Haunt It & Then Some…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, projects | Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Hey all! I have a few things to show you today. First, it’s TCP Tuesday and I am just itchin’ to show you the card that I made for this challenge {I’ll get to that in a sec}. Suzanne Dean’s card in THIS post was one of the points of inspiration. I {HEART} her circles with the bats, so I gave it go. I started with the Sketch For You To Try for this week, but as you can see, it didn’t quite end up like that. Oh, well!

The challenge for this week is to use any Sprinkle stamp. If you don’t know, Sprinkle is THE cat in The Cat’s Pajamas line of stamps. She was once Alma’s real kitty, but has since passed on. Rest In Peace, Sprinkle. We are left with her spirit and Alma’s wonderful talent for putting her into any and every situation possible. Here is Sprinkle all wrapped up as a mummy {Mummy Sprinkle} for Halloween.

tcptues25.jpg

The Halloween paper is from last year’s Stampin’ Up! catalog. I found this last remaining piece, at least I think it’s the last one, in my stash. Both the Mummy Sprinkle image and the sentiment are from The Cat’s Pajamas. The bats are one of many fab new punches from Martha Stewart, and they are covered with black Stickles . I used orange grosgrain and black organdy heated with a heat gun as part of my finishing touches, as well as the brads that flank the sentiment.

EVERYONE can play and this is what you are gonna wanna know…

The Bella GC Winner and Another Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | PaperTrey, Uncategorized, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, September 20, 2008

Thank you all who participated in last week’s {and every week’s} Sketch For You To Try. As you know, the supah generous Emily donated a $15 gift certificate to be given to one random participant that used a Bella in their sketch. So who is the winner? Drumroll please…

#54 Kristie

Great sketch and samples! The bird house is adorable :)

Here is my version of the sketch.

Kristie, email me {link under my pic} for the code ;)

When I created this weeks sketch many moons ago, I thought that it would be super easy peasy. Well for some it is, but for me it proved to be a little less so. I tried a little of this and a little of that. It just didn’t come together the way that I wanted it to, but oh well. Sometimes it goes that way. Do I think that it’s bad? Nah, but that doesn’t mean that I have to like it either. LOL!

So, here’s the sketch…

4. Post a link to your blog or gallery on this post.

ABC Friday ~ Little Pumpkin…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey, projects | Friday, September 19, 2008

Happy Friday y’all! It feels like fall is coming up on us here in Texas. The mornings are cool and the evenings are warm. It’s a dangerous combination for those allergy sufferers…just ask Susan! Today we are going to enjoy the cool morning and head out to the zoo and hopefully catch a glimpse of the 3 new lion cubs. Maybe this time the white tiger will have finished his breakfast, too. Last time he was still enjoying his white rabbit…eeewww!!
Today I have a fun little project that I know that you are gonna want to try! It’s a little pumpkin! This idea was adapted from an ornament idea in a Making Memories book.
littlepumpkin.jpg

To create the pumpkin shape (or ornament, etc)…
*Note that these instructions to not account for the spiral pieces, sentiment panel {Papertrey Ink shown) or leaf punch.

1. Cut 10 pieces of orange paper 1/2″ x 4″
2. Stack together and punch a hole through all pieces at the top and bottom.
3. Adhere pieces with brads through the holes.
4. To create the round shape, spread out each piece of paper.

pssst…you can fill it with little candies, too!

Happy pumpkin making! {a little less messy than your usual carvings, I bet!}
