Seriously. Seriously? Seriously!…

Can you tell that I am missing my Grey’s? I didn’t even get hooked until last fall. I watched all the previous seasons on DVD and got caught up on this season just in time for the writer’s strike. Argh!!! Grey’s will be back soon and I will be HAPPY!!!

Now for the real reason for the SERIOUSLY title…
Yesterday Ellie and I were looking through the satellite music channels on the tv and I came across one called “Pure Gold.” I flipped it on and we were dancing and singing to Chubby Checker and Diana Ross. AND THEN… “Manic Monday” by the Bangles came on. Seriously. Seriously? SERIOUSLY!!! This year marks the big 3-0, so I am feeling a little “old,” but not that old! There is no way that the Bangles should be in the same category as Chubby Checker. Either way, I found myself singing along…”Just another manic Monday, oh oh oh.” It’s in your head now, huh? bwwhahahaha!

Onto the real reason why you’re here…to see the card. I used the same sketch from this week’s Sketch For You To Try, but I flipped it. What do you think? I like both ways and see endless possibilities with each. The flower stamp is from the SU! set, Just Celebrate and the sentiment is from Wordsworth. I embossed the Purely Pomegranate panel with the Perfect Paisley Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. The other colors that I used were SU!’s Pumpkin Pie and Certainly Celery. The flowers are stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black and then colored in with Copics.

My mom is having surgery to completely remove a lymph node today and hopefully rid her body of the cancer that has attacked it. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you again to those that sent her cards; you really made her happy. If you are interested in sending her a RAK, please email me {link under my pic} and I can give you the address to send the cards to.

Fairy Nice Monday…

Posted by Jen | Bella, Ellie, PaperTrey, cards | Monday, March 24, 2008

Happy Monday All! I hope you all survived your own families or your in-laws this past Easter. I have already heard some horror {funny} stories. LOL!! We stayed at home. Tony continues to work on the patio and I was in my jammies all day long doing cleaning and laundry. For our fancy schmancy Easter dinner we had Stouffer’s lasagna. Aren’t you impressed? HA!! Last night I finally got some stamping done…YAY! For this card, I used the PaperTrey Ink cardstock in Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush. The DP is from PTI’s Pink Patterns Patterned Paper Collection {say that five times fast!!}. I love the smaller scale of their 6×6 pad. This is definitely my favorite pattern in the whole pack!! Isn’t it darling!?! For details, I stitched the edges of the DP and the bottom portion of the Sweet Blush is embossed with the Cuttlebug embossing folder, Floral Fantasy. I also pierced around the bottom portion of the main panel.
The main panel is stamped with Eloise the Fairy from Stamping Bella. I used a couple of different methods to color her. I knew that I wanted to have the skirt softly colored. On the green portion, I took my PTI Spring Moss Palette Ink pad and tapped it a few times on an acrylic block. I then used my aqua-painter and picked up the ink from the block and colored in the green portion of her skirt. I used my Copics and Copic blender pen on the rest of the coloring. Several portions of the fairy are outlined and filled in with my Sakura Stardust pen.

COOL TIP ALERT: I like the subtle look of my clear Spica pen, but I find it difficult to work with most of the time, especially over larger areas. I love the glittery effect of the Stardust pen, but don’t like that it leaves such a harsh line. Well, last night when I had my Aqua-Painter next to me, a little lightbulb went off! I took my slighty wet Aqua-Painter and pulled in the glitter, eliminating the line of the glitter pen and filling in some of the spaces with a super glittery effect!!! YAY! I’ll be using this a bunch!! Just be aware, that it’s not like using the Copics where you can blend over and over and not damage your paper. It’s using water, so if you do it too much you can ick up your paper.

Have I done enough yapping yet? ;) Here’s my card…

Oldies, but Goodies On My Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, March 22, 2008

Happy Saturday!! You know what that means!!…another Sketch For You To Try! YAY!! I have had such wonderful feedback from my sketches. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Each month the Dirty Dozen and Dirty Dozen Alumni get together for a little challenge. These are the details of this month’s challenge, and the basis {other than my sketch} for my card:

Challenge Focus: Use one of the oldest stamp sets you own along with embellishments and supplies you’ve had for what seems like forever.

Required Element: RAK - you must mail your card out as a RAK on 3/20 to any DD/DDA - could be a birthday, get well, thinking of you, invite to come play with us, congratulations or just totally random no particular reason RAK. You do not need to tell us who you mailed your card to.

Restricted Element: No stamps, tools, or supplies purchased or obtained within the last 6 months.

Bonus Challenge: Use a technique or style you haven’t used in a long time, but was a favorite at some point in your stamping past.

I decided to stay focused on the older stamps that I have. I chose my SU! Loving Hearts and Be Happy sets. Loving Hearts has been in my collection for a long time now and, even though I sell a lot of my older stuff to make way for new, I just can’t seem to let go of this one. I don’t even use it that often, but it remains.

I’ll cut the yip and the yap and show the sketch and my card now…

It’s kinda plain, but I like the simplicity. I’m gonna do another this week and jazz it up a little.

As you know, Joanne Basile is joining us this month as a Guest Designer each week for the sketches. Check out her awesome card!! Doesn’t this pic just look like it was ripped from a magazine?

As always, you can see more brilliant ideas for this sketch from my buds Amy, Carole, Shannan and Susan.

I hope you’ll give it a go, too! If you do, be sure to link it up to this post and if you upload to SCS, please use the keyword SFYTT so we can check ‘em all out!!

Happy Easter! Hugs-Jd

PS-I just had to share another from the icanhascheezburger. If you have hours on end to laugh out loud, check out the site. I seriously can’t get enough!! LOL!!

Did You Win? and ABC Friday…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday | Friday, March 21, 2008

Thanks to everyone that participated in last week’s Sketch For You To Try!! The random winner of the goodie bag is…

#26 Ileana
You can see her cute Easter card HERE.

Ileana, please email me {link under pic} your info and will get something out to you shortly.

Usually on ABC Friday I bring some sort of altered item or bag or box. Not today. Yesterday I spent all day in bed being sick! Ugh! I hope to pull out of it very quickly, as we need to finish the patio and clean house before Tony’s grandparents come to see us from San Diego next week. YIKES!!

However, I do have some randomness to share with you! Have you ever heard of a site call ICANHASCHEEZBURGER ? They have cute pics with funny {and wildly spelled} captions. I pulled a couple to show you and hopefully make you laugh. See ya here tomorrow when I have another Sketch For You To Try! YAY!!

Celebrate MFT Day…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards | Thursday, March 20, 2008

It’s the 20th again, which means that it is Celebrate MFT Day. YAY!!! If you don’t know what Celebrate MFT Day is, it’s a day to use your MFT stamps and share your creations. One of my favorite MFT sets is Rain or Shine. It’s perfect for paper piecing both the jackets of the woman and the dog. For this card, I used Memory Box paper and May arts ribbon. This ribbon is just YUM-O! It’s ruffled on the edges and is like suede down the middle. I can’t believe that I actually brought myself to cut into it! The rain drops are stamped in Bashful Blue and her boots, the sidewalk and puddle are colored with Copic Markers. You can’t really tell, but the puddle is also covered with Diamond Glaze

In addition to the 20th being Celebrate MFT Day, it is also the day that the Dirty Dozen {both and present} get together to do a challenge that Jami sets forth. Due to pending deadlines, I was not able to play this time around, but be sure to check out the fine creations of the DD chicas HERE.
