Fairy Nice Monday…
Mar 24th, 2008 by Jen
Happy Monday All! I hope you all survived your own families or your in-laws this past Easter. I have already heard some horror {funny} stories. LOL!! We stayed at home. Tony continues to work on the patio and I was in my jammies all day long doing cleaning and laundry. For our fancy schmancy Easter dinner we had Stouffer’s lasagna. Aren’t you impressed? HA!! Last night I finally got some stamping done…YAY! For this card, I used the PaperTrey Ink cardstock in Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush. The DP is from PTI’s Pink Patterns Patterned Paper Collection {say that five times fast!!}. I love the smaller scale of their 6×6 pad. This is definitely my favorite pattern in the whole pack!! Isn’t it darling!?! For details, I stitched the edges of the DP and the bottom portion of the Sweet Blush is embossed with the Cuttlebug embossing folder, Floral Fantasy. I also pierced around the bottom portion of the main panel.
The main panel is stamped with Eloise the Fairy from Stamping Bella. I used a couple of different methods to color her. I knew that I wanted to have the skirt softly colored. On the green portion, I took my PTI Spring Moss Palette Ink pad and tapped it a few times on an acrylic block. I then used my aqua-painter and picked up the ink from the block and colored in the green portion of her skirt. I used my Copics and Copic blender pen on the rest of the coloring. Several portions of the fairy are outlined and filled in with my Sakura Stardust pen.
COOL TIP ALERT: I like the subtle look of my clear Spica pen, but I find it difficult to work with most of the time, especially over larger areas. I love the glittery effect of the Stardust pen, but don’t like that it leaves such a harsh line. Well, last night when I had my Aqua-Painter next to me, a little lightbulb went off! I took my slighty wet Aqua-Painter and pulled in the glitter, eliminating the line of the glitter pen and filling in some of the spaces with a super glittery effect!!! YAY! I’ll be using this a bunch!! Just be aware, that it’s not like using the Copics where you can blend over and over and not damage your paper. It’s using water, so if you do it too much you can ick up your paper.
Have I done enough yapping yet?
Here’s my card…

Here are some pics from Easter morning with Ellie…

Trying to open her egg that had M&M’s in it…

Walking around with her new toy in her basket and her new shoes on her feet…

Have a great day!!

I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

I love that card - the coloring is fantastic and thanks so much for the tip on the glitter pen. I have both the Spica and Stardust and I agree with you about the harsh line the Stardust pen leaves so I will try this next time. Ellie is adorable and looks like she had a fun Easter!
Stouffer’s lasagna = fancy schmancy………… my husband used to work at a country club. One day one of the members called up and requested a lasagna to go. They didn’t have time to make one from scratch so they ran to the local store, purchased a Stouffer’s lasagna, put it in their own pan, added some of their own sauce and cheese to the top and passed it off as in-house chef-made - to RAVE reviews! To this day, this lasagna is requested quite often and I don’t think any of the members have a clue that it’s store-bought!
Love the fairy card and love Ellie’s shoes! She is so cute.
So cute! Both the fairy and Ellie! I adore her pj’s!!! And I keep admiring the Stamping Bella fairies so it’s nice to see projects done with them! Nice work on the new technique too!
Oh my goodness that fairy is awesome! I love the coloring and the colors you chose! Thanks for the tip about the pen and I’m glad you had a relaxing Easter!
My DD has those same PJs! Too cute! Thanks for sharing the fun pics
Jen: This card is absolutely adorable - just pushed me right over the edge to go and buy PTI’s new release!! Ellie is so cute! I love those dotted jammies and her shoes are totally FAB!!!
For a minute I was thinking… hmm how did she know what I did for Easter! lol… but its your sweet girl! lol… I love her face (mom open it for me! lol) I love your fairy card soo sweet I that is my next stamps as well as the new bellas.. I can’t keep up!! AHHHH
Jen, LOOOVE that fairy!!! I tried my slightly damp paint brush to spend my glitter ink around a few weeks ago…works great, but like you said, a little water goes a long way! Now where did you get those cute crocs for the baby?? I know its not anywhere near spring weather here in NYC, but they would be soo cute for my girls:)
Oh gracious she is pretty in those soft colors. And Ellie is a doll too. She looks like a hoot.
I love that card and how you used the cuttlebug embossing folder!
Cute card! Love the fairy!
I love your card … but your daughter puts the icing on the cake she is a cutie… These are the times that are so cute and precious … TFS
That card is adoreable! What an amazing coloring job.
And what a fun morning with Ellie - she’s too cute. Love the shoes. You’ll just love holidays moving forward, she’s to the age that they really get it now and its so much more fun (although you have to shop in secret, no more hiding things in the back of the shopping card while they’re in it!)
OMG, your daughter is adorable and your card is just darling!
Thank you for the glitter tip, I can’t wait to try it!
Oh Ellie is so cute!! Are those Crocs? I would love to get a pair of those for my 2 yr. old dd if you have a minute to share what kind of shoes they are? Love your fairy card - it’s so pretty!
Your card is so adorable, and I have been totally resisting getting that image, but I just might have to give in!!! Your daughter is beyond precious, I love her cute little shoes!!!
That card is GORGEOUS and so is your precious daughter!
Try moving the glitter around with an alcohol filled aquapainter. It doesn’t do any damage to the paper. It may be worth a try.
I have been sitting on a Bella order for a few days now… I am promptly going to complete my order and add this fairy to it. OMG it is SO cute!
adorable - card AND daughter!!
