Black Friday…

Posted by Jen | cards | Friday, November 23, 2007

Tony actually did it…he got up at the crack of dawn and went shopping. Wal-Mart is only about 2 miles from our house and they had some wonderful advertised deals. We each got a little something as an early Christmas present. He got the Madden game for Play Station. Ellie got some Mega Blocks {and slippers and jammies}. Now for the drumroll…I got a CRICUT!!! I had NO intention of purchasing this when it was priced at $300. Slowly the price has come down a little, but not enough for me to purchase it. Today is was on super sale and Tony got the last one. Apparently there was someone there looking at it {from a few feet back}. Tony came right up and grabbed it. Nice, eh? He came home saying that all is fair in love and war on Black Friday. I guess if you don’t have it in your hands, it’s not yours yet. So, at 6:20am, they were officially out of Cricuts at our local Wally World.
I have yet to make something with this wonderful piece of crafting machinery, so today I am sharing with you a card I made with my other machine…the Cuttlebug. I love my bug!! This card uses the Red Tag Alpha…my FAVORITE alpha!!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY. I have a feeling you are going to like what I have in store for you! Happy shopping and if you want it, be sure it’s in your hands or people like my husband will come take it out from under your nose. I laugh only because I have the Cricut at my house now. Shame on him tho, right? Nah!

Elzybells, MFT and PaperTrey Oh My!!

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards | Tuesday, November 20, 2007

The 20th is here…already!! I have had it in my mind that the 20th was Wednesday. So, when I actually noticed that TODAY was the 20th I mumbled a little something under my breath and got to stamping…real quick!!!
The first card that I have here is for Jami’s challenge. Jami put forth a challenge to all Dirty Dozen past and present to use this Elzybells image with Pretty In Pink. One stipulation was that we could not use any patterned paper, so I hope it’s ok that I kinda made my own using a Michael’s $1 stamp from a year or two ago. You can see all of the Dirty Girl creations for this challenge HERE at SCS. The “snow” is covered in layers of Star Dust Stickles. It really sparkles in real life!!

The second card I have here was made during my power hour…aka NAP TIME!! It’s made for CELEBRATING MFT DAY. If you want to know more about this day, click HERE. To see more creations made for this celebration, click HERE. This card uses one of the newest sets from My Favorite Things, Build A Bouquet. I cannot express how much I absolutely LOOOOVE this set. For those of you that think that you don’t need another flower set…you’re only right if you already own this one. LOVE IT!!…and I’m not just saying that because I’m on the DT…PROMISE!! The colors I used for this card are {SU!} River Rock, Soft Sky, Basic Black and Whisper White. I would have never thought to put these colors together, but some scraps ended up piling themselves into this combo and it grabbed my eye.

Are you wondering where the PaperTrey card is? Well, actually there isn’t one. I’m just off to meet Shannan to get the ones that she ordered for my while I was in AZ with a slow internet connection. Monogrammed teacher gifts will soon be made!

My SFYTT Sample…

Posted by Jen | PaperTrey, challenges | Sunday, November 18, 2007

Well, I am certainly posting this a little later than I originally intended. It seems that the barf-o-rama experience we had in in Arizona decided to make a reappearance last night at 3:30 in the morning. This time Tony was the victim. I have not been feeling so red hot myself. I am hoping that the start of a new week will bring better health to all of us.
Last night I sat down to stamp a sample for this week’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY. This is the 3rd card I came up with. Want to take a guess where the other 2 are? In the circular file located on the floor of my workspace…aka the trash. My mojo was taking a snooze, but I think I gave it a little slap upside the head when I created this card. The layout is super simple, so it lends itself to a super clean and simple card. The background is the Polka Dot background from Stampin’ Up! This was on the top of my list of my first order. I love this stamp!! The sentiment is from PaperTrey. I got the flower out of my Jolee’s stash. I really need to break into that stash a little more often!! I got the rose colored ribbon from www.ribbonsandbowohmy.com (although I cannot remember the exact color…sorry!!). If you have not been there yet, go hide your credit card now!! It’s a dangerous place for a ribbon lover like myself! I also used just a small piece of Celery ribbon, which I think is also from RABOM.
We just put Ellie to bed and I think that I am headed off to dream land as well. I know this is a busy week for everyone, so stay safe and be sure to find some time for stamping!

Coming up later this week…

November 20th is CELEBRATING MFT Day! Check out this thread to find out more. Also on the 20th, I will be posting a cutie patootie ElzyBells card for the Dirty Girl challenge that Jami presented to us.

A Sketch For You To Try and…

Posted by Jen | challenges | Saturday, November 17, 2007

In just a sec I will get to the Sketch For You To Try, but right now I have to say WOOOOOHOOOOO!! Nichole Heady put a couple of my projects on her blog as Honorable Mentions for this month’s contest. You can check ‘em out HERE. Thank You Nichole, you made my day!

And now for the Sketch For You To Try…

This is a super fun and easy one and I know that I will be seeing some AWESOME creations from all of you!! I will be posting my sample tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the first time that I have stamped IN A WEEK!!! I’m scared to see what might come out of this endeavor…LOL!! I still need to see and comment on all the creations from last week. I am home now and no longer suffering through a dial up connection {yes, I am a spoiled brat and love my high-speed internet}. I had a wonderful time, but as anyone who travels knows, it is good to be home. Thank you to all the “Zonies” that invited me to various places. It is wonderful to have an extended group of friends out there!

**If you are uploading to SCS, please be sure to use the keyword SFYTT**

You can check out the stellar creations of my dear friends,Carole Burrage, Shannan Teubner and Susan Liles by clicking on their names.
