Bloggers Challenge #1…

Posted by Jen | challenges | Saturday, March 24, 2007

Yes, I’m a little later than I thought I would be. Saturdays are my day to sleep in and today I took full advantage {obviously}. So hopefully you will accept my apologies and get to stamping! :) {smooches}

BLOGGER’S CHALLENGE #1 is to use Stampin’ Up!’s DOODLE THIS. As Paris would say, “It’s Hot” right now, so I thought that I would start off with this set.

Doodle This Tag
Stamps: Doodle This, It’s Your Birthday
Paper: Cameo Coral, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: StazOn Black, Cameo Coral, Gable Green
Other: Diamond Stickles, Round Punches, Corner Rounder Punch, Ribbon

GUIDLELINES: {Please read these}

1. Use this set DIFFERENTLY in 2 {or more} cards/projects. For instance, I am not going to make another tag, or cut this flower out this way in my other project {which I will post after I have had some breakfast and time to do it…*wink*}
>>>You may use one other sentiment and one other background set, as long as this set is the main image.

2. Post it on your blog and provide a link under this thread by Friday. To keep it simplified/unjumbled with everyone, please follow this format for commenting:

Real Name/SCS Name
Blog Link
any further comments.

If you don’t have a blog, post it in your SCS gallery. Those of you that intend to post both places, please just link your blog.

3. Be sure to include the recipe for your projects in your blog/gallery.

4. ***Bonus Points*** for using your project as a RAK.

Stamp Night Card and Blogger’s Challenge Update…

Posted by Jen | challenges, events | Friday, March 23, 2007

After all the cutting I made my friends do with the Bunny Bag Topper and other project (will post tommorrow), I figured an easy card would be a right up their ally. I love this layout, which I originally saw in Lauren Meader’s {mytime} gallery . So simple, yet it has endless possibilities with sets and embellishments!

Stamps: Mixed Bouquet, Warmest Regards, Paisley
Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Ruby Red
Ink: Ruby Red, Basic Black, Certainly Celery
Other: Dimensionals

I HAD TO HAVE Mixed Bouquet as soon as SU! released it in a summer mini a couple years ago. I am surprised the rubber is not worn down on this, as much as I used it when I first got it. However, this poor set has been a little unloved lately, so I blew off the dust and used it for the main panel image {which is mounted on dimensionals}. The bottom panel is Certainly Celery, stamped with Paisley in Certainly Celery. I used the Warmest Regards set for the sentiment. Many friends chose to do something other than “Thank You,” but I find myself not sending as many thank you notes as I once did, so that is the sentiment I chose. Hopefully, this will inspire me to get off my rear and do some more.

BLOGGER’S CHALLENGE UPDATE:

Well, it looks like it is a go. Spread the word, because tomorrow the first challenge goes up. I am going to switch up the “guidelines” a little, but nothing too drastic.
For those of you without a blog…You are in no way excluded from this at all!! Post to your gallery and provide us with a link.
One thing to keep in mind…all comments from posters that have not previously commented will go into moderation. So, if your comment does not immediately appear, no need to fret. I will be approving posts throughout the day.

Blogger’s Challenge~What Do You Think?…

Posted by Jen | projects | Thursday, March 22, 2007

You may have seen a couple SCSers doing a one on one challenge with each other. For instance, Lindsey Botkin {see her 2/27/07 post} and Julia Stainton just did a little challenge together.
So, I have been tossing around the idea of doing a Blogger’s Challenge. In my head this is how it works (bare with me, I know it’s a little rough). I will name a set or a stamp that is to be used differently on 2 cards/projects. You will have 3 days to post them to your blog. For instance, I am going to post one Saturday, and you will have until Monday night to post it on your blog. There are no winners or losers, it’s meant to be fun and to get you stamping! Once your post is up, come back here and put a link in the comments section under the challenge post. I know that not everyone has every stamp and if you don’t have that one, just wait until the next one. I will probably do mostly SU! stuff, but will surely throw in some other companies as well (think Stamping Bella, My Favorite Things, The Cat’s Pajamas, PaperTreyInk, A Muse, etc).

So tell me what you think! Any suggestions? What do you think about RAKing them as well?

Bunny Hugs Bag Topper…

Before I get started on the cute stuff…
When we set up this website, we did not select the option for anti-spam comments. It has come to our realization that Viagra pill pushers and dirty movie pushers are posting to the comments section of this site. To each is own, but not on this site! So, just to let you know, we will be implementing a anti-spam “feature”. The way it works is anyone who has posted a comment before can continue posting (using same email address I believe). Anyone who hasn’t posted before may do so, but it will go to a queue which I then approve. The instructions aren’t very clear so if this doesn’t work we will try something else. I appreciate your continued support and am sorry that a few bad guys had to ruin for the rest of us.

Stamps: Bunny hugs
Paper: Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Pretty In Pink, Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, Orchid Opulence
Other: Spring Colored M&Ms, Small Cello Bag, Dimensionals, Bunny Tail/Poof from Savvy Stamps, Grosgrain Ribbon

This is one of the projects that we did last night at my Stamp Night. Everyone seemed to love it and it was certainly my favorite project of the night! I just love that little bunny! I thought everyone was going to hate me with all the cutting they had to do…each blade of grass and the bunny, but I think they still like me. These would make great teacher, class party or neighbor gifts. A little tip…to make sure that your flower are neither floating or sinking, before you glue your grass down, lay it on top of the white panel and mark the top of the blades. Stamp the bottom of your flowers just a touch below that mark to make it look like they are blooming from the grass.

Thank You and A Winner…

Saturday was a wonderful mail day!! I got a very sweet surprise…2 Bellas that I didn’t even order, plus the ones that I did order!! Fellow Texan, SCSer and friend, Karen Haynes, surprised me by sending me JammyBella and StampingBella! I haven’t had much time to play, but I was able to make this card after Ellie went to sleep last night. I am not sure if you can tell, but the flowers on her jammies have Diamond Stickles on them~you know a bella has to have fancy pants jammies!
jammy_bella1.JPG
Stamps: JammyBella from StampingBella, small flower from SU! Simply Said

Ink: StazOn Jet Black, SU! Certainly Celery, Pretty In Pink, Lavender Lace, Going Gray

And the winner is…
