My Favorite Dessert…

Posted by Jen | just because, random ramblings | Thursday, February 23, 2012

Many moons ago when my husband and I were dating, I was introduced to a dessert made by his grandmother called “Faux Eclair.” One bite and I was in love with this delightful combination of vanilla, graham and chocolate! I blogged about this dessert once upon a time long ago, but thought that I would do so again after I got a delicious picture of it the other day…

Doesn’t it look yummy? Here’s the recipe, just in case you need to make sure it’s good…

Ingredients:
2 regular size pkgs. of French Vanilla instant pudding
3 cups of cold milk
1 regular size tub of Cool Whip
1 container of Milk Chocolate frosting
1 pkg. Honey graham crackers

Directions:
Combine both packages of pudding and milk together until thickened.
Add Cool Whip to pudding and mix well.

In a 9×13 pan, layer graham crackers and pudding mixture. {grahams, pudding, grahams, pudding, grahams}.

Frost with chocolate frosting.
NOTE: I microwave my frosting for about 30-45 seconds in 15 second intervals to make it easy to pour and spread on the frosting. Don’t forget to take off the lid and foil if you choose to do this, too!

Chill overnight. Yes, overnight! It’s ready to go in about 4-6 hours, but overnight is best…and who doesn’t love dessert for breakfast!

These can be made in individual cups or jars, as well! Wrap up in a cello bag with a ribbon and it’s a darn cute treat!

    Jen -

This looks so yummy! And Karen to make it low-cal, get the sugar free instant pudding, fat free milk and use light cool whip. As for the chocolate frosting, I draw the line at messing with my chocolate - LOL!

Looks yummy! I’ll have to google to find out what these ingredients are. Your band-names don’t tell anything to me - I’m from Finland.

My Mom made chocolate eclair cake for us as kids and it’s a recipe I love, but we make our frosting and it’s RICH. I think I might have to make one of these for my girls weekend next weekend…thanks for the reminder of it.

This looks MAR-VE-LOUS (in my Billy Crystal voice)! I have to try it. One ?— do you crumble the grahams or leave whole (I know, I know, Desserts for Dummies Vol. 5)

Sounds yummy and seems easy enough. I am having a SU party in March and was trying to think what I could make for my guests. I think this will be very nice. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

I hope you are feeling much better soon from that cold. I’m just now recovering from a doozy of a cold that started a month ago! Take care!!!

@janice…just leave them whole. you will have to break some of them to get each layer covered, but no crumbling needed :)
