So Sad…

To say that I am not a fan of making sympathy cards would be an understatement. Obviously, it’s not the card itself that makes me not a fan. There’s really only one reason to make a sympathy card for someone…loss of a loved one.

My best friend from childhood recently lost her father very suddenly and unexpectedly. Her family was my second family through middle school and into the beginning years of high school. On a car ride to visit her family, I got to thinking {keep in mind grief makes you think of weird things}. I am 1/32nd Indian. I figured out that with all the time spent at her house, playing soccer together or on the phone with her, I am at least that much {honorary} Korte, too. LOL! So as you can figure, when I learned of the passing of her dad I was heartbroken for her and her family.

This is the card that I sent to her family yesterday…

I have to say that Verve is definitely my go-to company when it comes to making sympathy cards. The set, Forever in Our Hearts, has a couple wonderful images to go along with any sympathy sentiment needed. I figured this one was the most appropriate, as I have grown apart from the family since childhood but still have wonderful memories.

In addition to using the Forever in Our Hearts set, I brought out the All a Flutter die set {again} and cut out a couple of butterflies in white {again!}. It seemed to pair well with the image and sentiment. I kept the layers a little flatter than I normally would, knowing that this was a card that I was actually sending out {and I don’t have any padded envies at the moment}. I love this Authentique paper. They are quickly becoming one of my favorite paper companies! I can’t wait to break into the new stuff!

TGIF, my friends! Have a great weekend!

Sad reason to stamp, but a lovely card nonetheless.
