Oh Happy Day…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards | Thursday, June 18, 2009

This is one of the sentiments that I recently picked up from Stamping Bella. I didn’t think much of it when I got it, but now I love it!! It’s good for birthday cards and just happy everyday cards. I liked it so much this week that I actually made 2 cards with it…

This first one is made with beachabella and the “Oh Happy Day” sentiment. These bright colors just scream “summer” to me! The DP is from We R Memory Keepers, which I paired with several SU! cardstock colors {Real Red, Summer Sun, Taken With Teal and Tangerine Tango}…

This next card uses Rollanda Ketto and Urban Prairie DP from Basic Grey…

TCP Tuesday~Scatter Sunshine…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, June 16, 2009

This card started out as a Christmas card…yes, really! Well, that was my intention anyways. So I brought out my TCP Christmas stamps and got to work. Turns out that the sweltering heat, “Mama, I wanna go outside” 400 times a day and thoughts of laying by the pool isn’t a Christmas card mojo maker. Take 2…get out the cute, fun spring-y/summer-y TCP stamps and viola…

This is actually for the TCP Tuesday challenge this week! Carole was gonna be your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess, but she is having some internet problems so I took the reigns and present to you this sketch…

Happy sunshiney Monday! Looks like it is going to be another torturous hot day here in North Texas. I just have to remember that we CHOSE to move here…LOL! Ellie starts swim lessons today and she is pretty excited!…me too!
Today I have a sweet and simple project to show you. It’s very easy to make and any recipient surely would love it. I started by making a book with a base and then layered it with the blue stamped panel and topped it with the punched yellow panel. I stitched around the edges leaving the backstitching at the top. This is where I put a {more than} half circle over the backstitching and punched a hole to thread the ribbon through.

This stamped sentiment is from the new Taylored Expressions set, Faith and Hope

To dress this up a little, I used my Cuttlebug dies and created sunflowers to dangle from the ribbon ends…

To create these flowers, I die cut 2 flowers {for each of the flowers}, hot glued the ribbon in the middle. I used hot glue because I know that it won’t come undone and it gave a little dimension that I was looking for. I then glued the second flower on top and hot glued the button on top of that. I really wanted to put a flower on the bookmark, but those flowers cry out for dimension; however, bookmarks do not!

Have a great Monday! See ya manana!

Sketch For You To Try…

What a wild week it’s been! The weather was crazy here in North Texas. I think it rained for 16 hours straight hours between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The power went out several times. So much that it blew the relay on our fridge…UGH! Turns out that a $10 surge protector would have saved us the $170 is cost to fix. Make note of that peeps! I started “play school” with Ellie this week, too. I have a workbook that we do a letter page, a number page and a motor skill page on 3 days a week. She is loving learning to write her letters. She has actually been showing interest for some time, so this seemed like a natural progression in teaching her. She even wrote her name for the first time yesterday. Granted, Ellie is pretty easy to write out, but I am one proud mama!

Let’s get down to biz-ness! Here’s this week’s sketch…

I’m still not messing Mr. Linky. I hope they will figure it out soon without me upgrading…ugh! So, just link your project in a comment on this post. I moderate comments, so no need to worry if your comment doesn’t show up right away {no need to try to post again :) } If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword “SFYTT”.

ABC Friday~All About Ellie…

Posted by Jen | Ellie, Family, random ramblings | Friday, June 12, 2009

Happy Friday everyone! Today is going to be an ABC Friday, but without a paper project. I have a few pics and Ellie-isms to share with you. If you are not familiar with Ellie, let me tell you that she is super sweet, super kind and pretty darn funny. I really couldn’t ask for a better kiddo!! She has her moments, though!

Last night while brushing her teeth, I had to continually ask her to do something {can’t even remember what that particular something was now}. I had to ask her several times and was getting a little frustrated and said, “Ellie, I don’t want to have to ask you do something 3 times.” Very sweetly she looks at me and says, “Well, then ask me 4 times.” For that, I had no words!

Here are a few pictures from her last day at Little Gym. The first 3 are a series of her doing a forward roll, then there is the one of her getting her medal and the last one is her cheery smile that brings me so much happiness.

Now, for one last story. This one also comes from yesterdays adventures. We made a quick run to Albertson’s to get some groceries and I was getting ground beef from the butcher. She decided that she wanted some, too {of her very own}. When he handed the meat to me and asked if I needed anything else, she piped up and YELLED… “um, MAN…gimme some of that, too, please.” I know that it was so much funnier in person, but I can’t believe that my {almost 3yo} child just chimed in with this!! LOL!

See you tomorrow for a another SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY!
