Another Bella Day…

Posted by Jen | Bella, Taylored Expressions/Stamp A Sweet Impression, cards, projects | Thursday, June 11, 2009

As promised yesterday, I have a couple more Bella cards to show you. Before I get to the cards, I want to let you know that I am co-hosting a Bella ATC swap and hope that you will play along. All of the info can be found in the Bella forum HERE.

This first card is my Bellarific Friday card from last week. Except for the card base, everything on here is from the Bella store. Can you tell that I LOVE that Bella Blvd. pink DP? LOL!

This next card that I made using one the newer {to me, at least} chichiboulies {love this line!}. There’s that Bella Blvd DP AGAIN!!! Sorry for the bad lighting. I forgot to photo this the other day and now there is a thunderstorm {the 5th in the last 14 hours from my count} and I can’t get any natural light to help me out…

Here is a peek at what I have going on at the Stamp A Sweet Impression blog; check it out {after 8am PST} :)

Oh My Bellas!

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards | Wednesday, June 10, 2009

With all the craziness that last week was, I totally forgot to post some of the Stamping Bella cards that I have made. I have 4 to show you and I am going to split them up between today and tomorrow.

The first one that I have is actually my Bellarific Friday card from a couple of weeks ago. This card uses ADDY TUDE…which just totally makes me laugh! She totally is a Diva {the sentiment that comes with her}. The paper is also from the Bella store, and is quickly becoming one of my favorite DPs {it’s Bella Blvd.’s -not related to Stamping Bella- Sweet Celebration}.

My second card uses Stampah Bugg, part of the HuggaBugg line. I’m pretty sure that all stampers should be required to have this as part of their stamp collection!! LOL ;)

I used some My Mind’s Eye double-sided paper to compliment the brown/white American Crafts DP that I used to paper piece her outfit and for the large rectangular panel. I used several “finishing touches” on this card, including the white satin ribbon, pewter brads, Prima flowers and rhinestones {on the flower and her antennae}. I also used my Sakura Stardust pen on her wings.

TCP Tuesday…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, June 9, 2009

It’s TCP Tuesday and Susan has issued a great challenge…use any penguin stamp. Poochie and Sprinkle {the dog and cat of TCP} will always be my faves, but I sure do love these penguins. When Ellie saw this card, she asked, “Are those the crazy penguins with a birthday cake?” She is referring to the Penguins of Madagascar…LOL! I just told her that they can be whichever penguins she wants them to be. :)

The base of the card is created from PTI white cardstock. I have yet to try some of the other’s that have come out that people say are comparable, but would like to check those paper’s out, too. I then dug in my pile-o-DP and came out with this pattern from Three Bugs In A Rug. I wanted to add a star die cut to match the paper, but it just wouldn’t fit the way that I wanted it to at the time. I have a couple ideas for including the star, so I may just have to do a card re-do.

So want to play along in this week’s TCP Tuesday challenge? Be sure to head over to Susan’s blog to see all the details {as well as her cutie patootie sample!}.

Father’s Day Gift…

Posted by Jen | Verve, projects | Monday, June 8, 2009

Happy Monday! If you were over on the Verve blog on Friday, you already saw the project that I have to show you today here. I made this Father’s Day gift for the Verve June Project Parade, which is going on now through June 19. The theme this month is “Celebrating the Men in Our Lives.”…lots of ideas for Dad’s Day!

This started as an unfinished wood block photo holder from Michael’s that I picked up a few months ago for $1. I cover it in paper from Pink Paislee {”Fascinating” line}. Then I added the buttons and sentiment {from the new Dad’s Day set} in the oval Nestabilities. The sentiment panel is sponged with Ranger Distress Tea Stain, adding more to the rustic-y/masculine look I was going for. Not counting the stamps, since I can use those over and over again, this project cost me about $3. Not too bad! If you want to play along with the Verve Project Parade, you can have a chance to win a $25 Verve gift certificate! Also, Julee is giving a $25 gift certificate to a random commenter! How easy peasy is that!?!

See ya tomorrow for TCP Tuesday! :)

First Saturday of the Month…

Posted by Jen | Cornish Heritage Farms, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, June 6, 2009

Hip hip hooray, it’s the first Saturday of the month which means that I have a new Designer of the Month to introduce. Many people have asked me how to “try out” for this, but there is no “try out.” I just search blogs and galleries and bookmark ones as I go. When it comes time to ask someone, I reference the list and go from there. I haven’t updated my blog roll in forever, and I certainly go beyond the names on there {just so you know}.

Back to this month’s Designer of the Month…

Please give a warm welcome to ASHLEY NEWELL
Portrait Session: Ashley and Nichole

A little about Ashley in her own words…
I am very grateful for Jen and the design team for hosting the challenges and creating great cards every week! I’m truly honored and thrilled to be June’s guest designer and face the sketch challenges for the month.

To pay the bills (and support my craft), I am a legal editor for a non-profit publisher located outside of Washington, DC. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, McArthur, and being his photography assistant. I also enjoy traveling and cooking new dishes. I started scrapbooking in high school using limited supplies, such as magazine clippings, pipe cleaners, sequins, and markers that I found at the local craft store. I rediscovered my passion two years ago after finding the online crafting world and realizing how much the scrapbooking industry has changed since my high school years. I was introduced to card making after taking a class at my local scrapbooking store and immediately was hooked. I am glad that I have found a wonderful craft as my creative outlet and lease on life, but most of all to be able to share it with fellow crafters and meet more along the way!

Carole isn’t playing this week, but she’ll be back soon :)

Ok, so the Mr. Linky that I had all set up before has apparently died and gone {to a temporary} heaven due to server issues. Just go ahead and leave your creation link in the comments. Don’t forget…I moderate comments, so if it doesn’t show up {meaning some far off computer god didn’t recognize your name}, I will approve it shortly.
