So & I Wanna Know…
Apr 29th, 2008 by Jen
So…I had all these grand plans to do this and that and guess what?? I did the other thing. The other thing being cleaning out my stamp room. I’m still knee deep in paper, flowers and alterables, so I have nothing to share. HOWEVER, I am hoping that you will share with me. I have a couple of questions that I hope that you will so very kindly take a moment to answer.
1. Do you like the weekly stuff I have going? {TCP Tues, ABC Friday and SFYTT on Saturday}
2. What do you want to see more of {although I make no promises here, I am listening}
3. I usually mention my products in the body of my post. Do you like having a recipe, too? Or, does it not matter.
4. Anything else I should know?
Hi Jen! I like the variety of the things you post. I like a product list, and unless you dont have eyes a recipe isnt neccesary. Unless its not totally obvious, that is!;) I think all is good. While you are cleaning, if you come across anything you dont want, send it my way…Lol!
I love all the weekly stuff - I especially like the SFYTT. While recipes can be very helpful sometimes with unfamiliar items, it is more helpful to describe any unique techniques or supplies and how you used them rather than just a list in a recipe. I think your blog is great and I really look forward to reading every time you post. Thanks for sharing! ~chris
Yes, I love your regular weekly spots! Don’t change em! Especially love your sketchs and now the ABC Fridays…gives me some inspiration!!
Hi Jen! I don’t remember how I first found your bolg but it’s a place I now visit daily. Your projects are always inspiring and I agree with the others who have already commented about the amount of info you give us — it’s just right. Good luck with cleaning out your stamp room.
Good morning, Jen. I like all the weekly stuff you do, especially the sketch challenge. I really enjoy everything you do, so I can’t think of anything more that I’d like to see. I don’t think a recipe is necessary unless it’s a technique or something that isn’t obvious. You know what I mean?
Have a splendid day - Regina
Hi there!
Wow! I have been doing the same thing! Cleaning my craft room and I have soooo much stuff. Seems like I collect it more than use it.
I got a brand new computer with a 22″ screen and that is what prompted me to clean up the room first!
Anyway, I love your blog and love it the way it is. Adding more to it will be good too! I always enjoy reading it and would love to have you share your receipes, pictures of your family, etc.
I love the SFYTT so keep it coming. Have a great day!
Lisa
Hey Jen. I love the way you do things on a regular basis. I know to look for a sketch Saturday. I know ABC day. You know?
AND I think telling us how you do things and what products you use is essential to me and others. I have chosen things on your say-so and tried them when I may not have, simply because you explain it so well on your site.
If you want to change things up, do. I’d love to see a tutorial on any give “technique” once a month or something.
Love your blog!
hugs,
em
Hi Jen,
I enjoy seeing different card designs so I am easy to please. Unless the card is complicated, sharing the recipe without step by step instructions works for me.
If a card is complicated, I prefer pictures along with directions. I am a visual learner and will recall the directions better if I have pictures to remember.
You seem to enjoy creating the blog and that comes across. Keep up the good work and enjoy!
Laurie
Jen.. Love your blog and I really enjoy all of your regular features especially the SFYTT!
Myself being a pretty new stamper and cardmaker, I LOVE that you provide a recipe! It really helps me if I want to case a card you’ve featured.
Thanks for all your inspiration! I’m an avid reader of your blog!

1. Love the wekly stuff!
2. Not sure you do a good job of showing all kinds of things. Of course I love to see what others artist studios or work spaces look like. And I love new ideas for organizing this crafts supplies.
3. I think either listing the products as you explain what you did or psting a recipe at the end is fine but doing both could become stressful for you - just adding another layer to your work load. I personally like the recipe at the end better and hearing a little more about the process or your daily life in the body of the post.
4. I just love reading along. Your art inspires me and I really love finding your creations in magazines I read. I’ll say, “hey I know her!!” to my friends then I have to explain that really I don’t but that I am a fan and I do read your blog daily. *wink* (that just happended with the current issue of Take Ten). Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your heart and your talant. Do what feels good to YOU and others will enjoy it.
I love recipes! It allows me to purchase the product I would like to
have that you put to such good use in your work.
I love your blog! Especially the sketches - even for another creative soul, sometimes the brain isn’t functioning and other times it’s just a matter of getting out of your own comfort zone.
I love the stuff you show and the fact that you give the recipes and sometimes even the links to get the product.
I can’t say there’s much I would change but I am sure any improvements you make would be great base on what I have seen you do so far!!
1. Weekly stuff is great, especially the sketch. It really helps when I am struggling for an idea. I think a few set weekly things keeps people coming back.
2. More stuff? I agree with em above, maybe a monthly tutorial or new/favourite technique.
3. I think a recipe is only necessary if you are doing something specialized or complicated.
4. Love your blog and all of your creative ideas. The card ideas are terrific. I like that the cards are usually not too complicated! Your blog has become one of my regulars to visit. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Alright Jen, here are my answers to your questions!
1. I absolutely love your SFYTT! They are so much fun. Please keep them coming. I love following your blog and everything that you have going on. It is always so much fun to read!
Keep up the awesome posts!
2. Hmm…I like what I see already but I wouldn’t mind seeing more 3-D projects. You can never have too many of those!
3. I LOVE when you post the recipe! It is so helpful for me to figure out what color combination you used.
4. I can’t think of anything else except that your blog rocks and you are so incredibly talented! I would love to have just HALF of your talent!
Thanks for what you do!
Stephanie
I’m a daily reader and think your blog is absolutely perfect the way it is. I particularly like the sketches and save them all for future reference. I like the card recipes and the links you provide. Yup, it’s all good!
Thank you for the wonderful inspiration. I always look forward to your posts.
Hugs,
Colleen
It is ALL good! No changes needed!
You have the perfect balance of product and ideas.
Hi,
I am terrible at leaving comments but I stumbled across your blog a month or two ago and love to check it constantly! I love your sketch challenges and think you have a great balance! I personally think everything is great…just thought I would add my opinion!
Thanks!
Hi Jen,
I love looking at all of your beautiful cards. I should leave comments and I apologize for not doing so. To be honest, I have never participated in any of your sketch challenges but will try to ASAP!
As for changing anything that you do. I think what you do is more then enough. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful designs with us.
Mary
Jen, I love everything you do…you are so inspiring. I love your weekly features, and personally I prefer a commentary to a recipe. I like to read the how and why, and the little hints and tips that just don’t come with a recipe alone. Adding one, just adds work for you, since it’s already there in the commentary. I would not want to trade one for the other.
As for what MORE I want….as a blogger, I think you do and have a lot for us anyway. I’m happy with what you share! How much MORE time do you have than I LOL!
I actually read your blog almost every day. I like all of the features. I agree with a prior commenter that the recipes are nice for the newbies.
I know, I stink, I hardly ever comment, but I’ll comment on this! haha.
I come to your blog because I LOVE your style, I love your cards. I don’t really pay attention to what theme day it is. I know I could never keep up with themed days, but I respect those that do. I really can’t say I notice though. I just look a the cards and enjoy them. I do love how you do close ups sometimes though. I like that. I don’t care if you put the supplies in the descirption or at the end. I usually just get inspired by the ideas and such, if I really need to procure a supply you use I don’t mind reading to find it!
Love your blog, I say change your format if you want, or keep it the same, it’s all good!
I LOVE your blog! I love the sketch challenge, your style, everything! I think if I ever wanted the recipe to anything I can always email you and get it that way. You are such an inspiration to me and I look forward to coming to your blog every day.
Hi Jen! I really like your blog and visit every day. I love that you are a regular poster and that there is always something new and creative. I love that you post links to helpful info too. Thanks for sharing so much with us. Can’t wait to see you again this weekend at the Arlington swap!
Jen,
I’ve been a regular visitor of your blog now for a few months. Kudos to you for hosting such an awesome blog. I love what you’ve got going on. I agree much with fellow bloggers, recipes aren’t necessary unless you have a unique product or a great find! I especially love sketches!!!! Totally a “sketch junkie!” Keep up the great work, and I admire you cleaning your stamping room, that task soooooooo scares me!
I enjoy your blog. I want to see what you did the other day when you said you were going to go play with Patricia Birthdaycake
Hi Jen,
I love your blog.
I have had so much fun participating in a few SFYTT Saturdays. I have the intention of doing it every week, but you know how that goes…
I like having the recipes, but I don’t know if they are necessary. We could always just email you if we didn’t know what something was/ where it was from.
Jen, your blog rocks. The regular features you do are alot of fun. I like seeing what you do with TCP Tuesdays, and seeing non-card stuff is definitely fun and I LOVE your sketches! Please keep them coming, all of them!
I don’t care if people don’t do them though. I know it takes some extra time and can be a pain, so if you don’t start doing them it isn’t a big deal. I can always email you if I really can’t find an answer I really want!
As for anything else I would like to see… anything you create. That works for me!
I have to admit, I do kinda like recipes simply because if there is something particular I want to check on a card I can just scan that instead of rereading the whole post. Sometimes I miss reading things.
Thanks for doing your blog!
Jen, love your weekly stuff…the sketches are fab! i love your stories, ideas, inspiration, and the way you present it all is great! think it fantastic just the way it is…and, if you see fit to add, delete, change anything, i just know you will make it even more fantastic! thank you!!!
chelle
Jen, I love your sfytt! I have an inspiration notebook and they are all in there! Everything you do is “wow” and I appreciate it all!
Hi Jen!
I absolutely LOVE your blog, I visit it daily!! Your projects are always inspiring, and I really enjoy the SFYTT on Saturdays. You always explain things very well, but I would enjoy a *recipe* if you have the time!
I always enjoy seeing pics of Ellie, and think it’s a hoot whenever your husband shares his thoughts on the blog!
You are very talented, so thanks for sharing & inspiring me!
Lisa
Hi Jen!
You KNOW I love SFYTT on Saturdays! It’s my FIRST stop while drinking my coffee. Gets my brain going! Everything you offer here is so valuable and I don’t think you need to change a thing!
I think just mentioning a few of the items you use in a card or project is enough. For example, maybe the make of Designer Paper. You always use fabulous supplies but I don’t always recognize everything.
Thanks for always having something fun to share with us!
Hi…yours is one of the best blogs I visit…I love your samples!! I do like it when the recipe is at the bottom of the sample just for ease of looking at it…keep up the beautiful, creative work!! THanks!
LOVE your weekly stuff - DON’T STOP THOSE!!! especially the sketches - yours are my favorite ones!! i prefer products in the post - not so much recipes.
I really like your blog—my favorite is SFYTT—I’ve only done it once, but I hope to do it more in the future. I’ll come to your site no matter what you put up—-so make yourself happy! I just enjoy seeing your work~ Hugs~
Jen,
I love your blog the way it is. I really like the sketches and save them all. I haven’t actually done one, but I will someday! I don’t think you need to change anything.
I think recipes are up to you. I kinda like it when you mention things in your post about a project.
I love seeing the pictures of your daughter, it makes me feel like you are part of my {stamping} family.
Hugs,
Melissa
Hi Jen,
What is the swap meet in Arlington? Can anyone go? Just curious.
Thanks.
Lisa
Jen, The only thing I would like to see different would be that you post the dimensions of your cards. Sometimes it is hard to judge by the picture alone. Thanks!
1. Do you like the weekly stuff I have going? {TCP Tues, ABC Friday and SFYTT on Saturday}
*I love your weekly ideas. Maybe have one thing that you do all week.-5 days worth of something
2. What do you want to see more of {although I make no promises here, I am listening}
*altered things. gift type items too.
3. I usually mention my products in the body of my post. Do you like having a recipe, too? Or, does it not matter.
*yeah-I love being shown the exact way of how you make something.
4. Anything else I should know?
*I know I enjoy your personal stuff too. Not to be nosey, just interesting~
Jules P.
Love your weekly stuff. If you are into scrapbooking I would love to see it. I really like the fact that you include a recipe because there have been times I have wanted to purchase something you used .
Thanks for sharing your wonderful work!
I like the variety of things that you post. I am very busy as is most people these days and would love some 10 minute (quick) card samples. I like having the supply list and the recipe because I will sometimes cut and paste cards that I like so that I can make my own later(not exactly, but used for inspiration). I also like to know who makes some of the products so I can purchase the stuff I really like. Thanks for asking our opinions.
Hi Jen,
I LOVE the weekly bits you do. Since I found your blog, I have pretty much tried every SFYTT. A recipe at the end of your post is helpful as it is easier to find what you have used rather than trying to read the whole post again.
Thanks for your inspiration Jen.

I really enjoy seeing all the different cards and projects that come into my mailbox from bloggers. I absolutely love to see the recipe showing the names of major products. I don’t get to see much, so just seeing all these images that are new to me, is wonderful. Techniques are also wonderful and a huge bonus, however, I would never expect everyone to do them, or to feel they must do them all the time. It’s nice to outline a new technique, or a twist to one. They must be very time consuming, and I can’t read as many tutorials as I wish I had time to sit and read. I feel bloggers should not feel guilty for not blogging some days or weeks, I don’t expect them to, while enjoyable, everyone has life outside of blogs. One thing I do enjoy seeing is using a stamp to make more than one card, different folds, simple gift ideas, and love to read tips/advice on colour, design, technique, - anything at all to help us. It’s all super wonderful to me!!
I enjoy your blog very much, I hope you do what you want to do, and do not feel pressured into doing more than you feel you can.
Thank you so much to you and bloggers like you who care to ask, who take the time to share their creations, and information. I couldn’t ask for anything more! YOU ROCK!!
Hey I just stumbled upon your blog a month ago from SCS, and I added it to my fav’s!
I like the SFYYT because I work during the week, and I love your sketches that I might be able to get to during the weekend (I am staying home with a sick child today.)
I don’t need a recipe for cardmaking, but I always read the stamp info if I’m interested in the image.
Hmm… I can’t think of anything to add… but keep it up, I enjoy visiting!
I love your weekly stuff! Please don’t stop them. Although I don’t participate nearly as much as I’d like, your weekly features are very inspirational and I truly love looking at them. As far as the recipes go, I sometimes like to read what you’ve used, but usually only if something particularly neat or pretty sticks out at me. Like if you use a really pretty DP or embellishment. What I’ve started doing on my blog is to just show off the cards, mention special things about the card, but put details in my SCS galery when I upload the cards to that. It saves me from repeating everything in two different places. I hope that info helps you out. And THANK YOU for the wonderful blog!
1. YES! I love your whole blog and everything that you have going for it!!
2. Hmm - I don’t know how to add another day to the week, so I guess you posting more is out of the questions! *grin* Maybe a “class by mail” kinda thing?
3. I rarely read these - only if I’m really, actually going to do it. I like the instructions for a more complicated project, but just a basic card - it’s pretty easy to figure out.
4. Anything else I should know? Patagonia receives less precipitation than New Mexico. Don’t think you really need to know that, but it’s a random fact that popped into my head from watching Bear Gryllis earlier this evening!
