ABC Friday~Teacher Gift Ensemble And A Serious Enabler Alert…

TGIF! So how many of you raced out to see the new Indy movie already? Tony is going today with one of his buddies. I told him that I can either go see it with him again or catch it on DVD. I didn’t watch a whole lot of movies when I was a kid, so the thrill and excitement of this is all going past me pretty much. HOWEVER, I do plan to go see the new Sex & The City movie!!
Today I have a whole gift set to show you. Ellie goes to a little Mom’s Day Out program and they let out for summer {BOO!} next week. Her “teachers” have been so incredibly sweet and I wanted to do a little something for them. I combined the new Petals and Stems set from Verve Visual with PaperTrey Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush and Spring Moss colors. I also used their new Kraft paper. I really like the weight of this Kraft cardstock, although it seems to have a lot more visible fibers than the SU! Kraft.

Here’s a pic of the everything…

It all started with the card I made. I just took the design elements from the card and incorporated it in with the other stuff. The sentiment on this card is from the Set Thankful Blossoms from Verve.

I made a small genie bag with matching tissue paper to put all the goodies in…

The scalloped rectangle is a Nestabilities die and letter is cut from the Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet. These are so easy to make!! You can get a package of badge holders in the office supply section of Wal-Mart and you can punch a couple of extra holes in the top to tie lots of ribbon to. The binder ring is also from the Wal-Mart office supply section, and it makes the perfect “clip.”

So, do you want to be seriously enabled?? Check out the new Cuttlebug stuff HERE!

MOJO Birthday Wishes…

I think that I have expressed in the past how much I love Julee’s Mojo Monday sketches. If you missed me saying that before, let me tell ya…I LOVE ‘EM!! This week being no exception. I took a couple artistic liberties to make this card exactly how I wanted it, but for the most part it is the sketch from this week. I love how the top panel drops past the panels below it. It rarely occurs to me to do that, especially at the bottom of the card. I think that I have also mentioned that I love to pair my Bellas up with the sketches. As you can see, I did it again. The sentiment is from PaperTrey and the red panel is run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. As for the coloring, I used Copics and then highlighted with my Sakura Stardust pen, which I like more than my Spica because I can actually get the “ink” to come out. I spread the shimmer all over, and dulled the glittery lines by using an Aqua-Painter.
Today Ellie and I are off to story time at the library. We went for the first time last week and she loved it! It was music week last week. They sang songs, read a book, played instruments and even made a little kazoo from a toilet paper tube, wax paper and a rubber band. Hopefully I won’t need Tylenol after story time today. You can only image what 18 kids under the age of 5 with instruments sound like. Ellie had the cymbals and thought they were GREAT…imagine that! As much fun as that was, I am hoping for little less BANG in story time today. LOL! Have a great day!

Wishing You Well…

When I started to make this card, I did not have a clue what it was going to look like in the end. I knew that I wanted to use one of the CHF backgrounders {Geometric Flowers II} and I also wanted to used Bayou Blue and Soft Sky. I got to playing around and kept adjusting this and changing that and this is what I came up with. The base of the card is Bayou Blue and is layered with Whisper White and Soft Sky. I have said before that I sometimes would much rather make DP with backgrounds than have to dig through a stack of real DP to find a perfect match. This time was no different. I made my own {very matchy-matchy} DP by layering the CHF background in Bayou Blue with the SU! Twill background in Soft Sky. The main image is from SU!’s Garden Silhouettes and is stamped several times to give a faded look. Finally, the sentiment is from PaperTrey. I’ve got lots to do today, including my TCP challenge card for tomorrow.

I am making this short and sweet as I have lots of fun stuff to do for the week. You especially won’t want to miss Friday’s ABC!! Hope you all have a wonderful week!!

Fairy Nice Monday…

Posted by Jen | Bella, Ellie, PaperTrey, cards | Monday, March 24, 2008

Happy Monday All! I hope you all survived your own families or your in-laws this past Easter. I have already heard some horror {funny} stories. LOL!! We stayed at home. Tony continues to work on the patio and I was in my jammies all day long doing cleaning and laundry. For our fancy schmancy Easter dinner we had Stouffer’s lasagna. Aren’t you impressed? HA!! Last night I finally got some stamping done…YAY! For this card, I used the PaperTrey Ink cardstock in Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush. The DP is from PTI’s Pink Patterns Patterned Paper Collection {say that five times fast!!}. I love the smaller scale of their 6×6 pad. This is definitely my favorite pattern in the whole pack!! Isn’t it darling!?! For details, I stitched the edges of the DP and the bottom portion of the Sweet Blush is embossed with the Cuttlebug embossing folder, Floral Fantasy. I also pierced around the bottom portion of the main panel.
The main panel is stamped with Eloise the Fairy from Stamping Bella. I used a couple of different methods to color her. I knew that I wanted to have the skirt softly colored. On the green portion, I took my PTI Spring Moss Palette Ink pad and tapped it a few times on an acrylic block. I then used my aqua-painter and picked up the ink from the block and colored in the green portion of her skirt. I used my Copics and Copic blender pen on the rest of the coloring. Several portions of the fairy are outlined and filled in with my Sakura Stardust pen.

COOL TIP ALERT: I like the subtle look of my clear Spica pen, but I find it difficult to work with most of the time, especially over larger areas. I love the glittery effect of the Stardust pen, but don’t like that it leaves such a harsh line. Well, last night when I had my Aqua-Painter next to me, a little lightbulb went off! I took my slighty wet Aqua-Painter and pulled in the glitter, eliminating the line of the glitter pen and filling in some of the spaces with a super glittery effect!!! YAY! I’ll be using this a bunch!! Just be aware, that it’s not like using the Copics where you can blend over and over and not damage your paper. It’s using water, so if you do it too much you can ick up your paper.

Have I done enough yapping yet? ;) Here’s my card…

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | PaperTrey, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, March 15, 2008

Happy Saturday! It’s time for another SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY!

***I’m gonna do a goodie bag this week, too. So, everyone that participates and links to this post will be entered to win a little something from me. I will pick a random winner on Friday morning! I am looking forward to seeing all of your outstanding creations!***

You can see more samples on the blogs of Amy, Carole, Shannan and Susan.

I’m short winded again today because it’s back to work on the patio for us. We are about 95% done with all of the digging. That will get done today and we hope to lay all the paver sand, too. That way will be to the point of “just” laying the brick! YAY!

Here’s the sketch…

My sample… I could not get good lighting, so it’s not the best pic. I hope to switch this pic out for a better one later. {crossing fingers!}
