A Box, A Template, A Frame and Snow Pic…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey, Tutorials, projects, random ramblings | Friday, March 7, 2008

Well, I promised a box template today, so I am delivering a box template today. Of course I had to make another sample, tho! ;) This box uses the PaperTrey set, Out On A Limb. I did not get this set when it first came out, but then I kept seeing GORGEOUS creations made with it and I realized that it really fits my style and I will get a lot of use from it. So, now I the proud owner of yet another PTI set!

Please note that the template is not to scale is drawn for you as a reference to the directions. If your box “bows in” a little at first, don’t worry. It will stabilize when you add your decorative layers. If you have any questions, just let me know. My email link is under my pic.

Tony went to OU {University of Oklahoma} and is very much a Sooner fan, along with all his OU buds. A couple of his friends married UT grads {blasphemy according to Tony}. ;) I made this for one of the girls that went to UT we are friends with.

In Texas, they say “If you don’t like the weather, just wait 10 minutes.” Maybe not literally, but from day to day there can be some drastic changes! This week has been CRAZY. Monday night we were under a Tornado Watch, Tuesday it lightly snowed, Wednesday it was 80 degrees, Thursday is snowed 5 INCHES! {I know some of you have no pity on that!} and today it is sunny and cool. Here is a pic from yesterday’s snowfall.

ABC Friday!…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey | Friday, February 1, 2008

Last Friday was part of my week of Anything But A Card {ABC}, so I guess I can call this one the first official ABC Friday. YAY!! Earlier this week I ran over to Hobby Lobby to pick up a replacement ink pad and happened to wander into their plastic container dept. I love containers. Big, small, round, square…you name it. I found these cute little plastic containers for 67 CENTS!! A container, something that I can alter and fill AND under a buck. My heart was all a flutter!! So I picked up a few and came home and got to work. I have about a gazillion ideas in my head for these, but this is the first one that made it to production. BTW-This bottle holds almost a whole bag of Red Hots!! The sentiment is from PaperTrey and is on a small scallop oval {the yellow Marvy one} punch. The puffy felt heart is also from Hobby Lobby. I picked those up a while ago when the Valentine’s stuff first started to arrive. The bottle top is exactly 1 inch, so a one inch punched circle fit perfectly.
See you here tomorrow for another Sketch For You To Try and the announcement of February’s Guest Designer, who will be playing along on each of Feb.’s sketches. YAY!!
***Also, if you are interested in being a Verve Guest Designer, be sure to see the post from yesterday!!!***

Dreams Are Wishes…

Posted by Jen | PaperTrey, cards | Monday, January 28, 2008

Isn’t this just a pretty sentiment? A little gushy, yes, but nice all the same! I paired this sentiment with the leaves from the Spiral Bouquet set from PaperTrey. Instead of using the flowers from the set, I used punched hearts that I sponged with Blush Blossom ink.
The layout is from Julee Tilman’s Mojo Monday sketch from last week. I have good intentions of doing her sketch every week {and a bunch of other sketches}, but sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Fortunately, I have them all printed out and when the chance arises I pull one out and work on it. Yay for me, on Saturday I got to work on one!
The background on this stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms. I really like their backgrounders!! You can get them unmounted {just 10 bucks and already backed with Smart Cushion} and they will cling to the sticker on the wood of your SU! background stamps, so there is no need to purchase a jumbo acrylic block.
The strip of white at the edge of the card was a real afterthought. I slipped the sketch into the card and part of it was hanging out of the bottom. I thought that the white edge looked good, so I took off about 1/8″ of the Chocolate Chip cardstock and put a strip of white.

On Friday morning is was COLD! Remember, if it is below 70 I am freezing {I know all you in the Northeast are chuckling at my cold wimpiness!}. Anyways…I took this picture of the little icicles that were hanging on the holly bushes in our front yard. I thought it looked kinda purty, so I thought I would share! :)

Day One~Anything But A Card…

Posted by Jen | PaperTrey, projects | Monday, January 21, 2008

Yep, that’s right. No cards here. Well, at least this week. All week {Mon-Sat}, I am going to feature a little of this and a little of that; it just won’t be in the form of a card. To start the week off, I am showing my Friend Heart Box. This is a small paper mache box that I covered with pink and brown American Crafts paper {have I ever mentioned that I LOOOOVE their paper!?!}. For the top of this box, I scalloped some Whisper White paper with my corner rounder punch and added ribbon to make a “frilly” type edge. The flowers are from Prima and the sentiment is from PaperTrey. I also got the bottom “flower” instructions from Nichole’s blog. Although it is not really captured by the photographs, I like the depth that it gave to this project. Of course, I had to add some bling blingl The center of the flowers is a Making Memories brad and the “i” is dotted with a Swarovski crystal {which I foudn at Hobby Lobby for 50% off!}.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another project and some pictures from this weekend’s stamp fair. I met another Dirty Girl Alum there!! :)

Forever…

Posted by Jen | PaperTrey, cards | Thursday, January 3, 2008

YAY!!!…I finally got to do a sketch challenge on SCS again!! I used to be a challenge junkie, but these days I find myself hardly ever doing them. I guess I am still a bit of a junkie, because I always look at what they are first thing. It’s just a matter of when…or if, I get around to it. Last night I got around to doing this week’s sketch challenge {SC157}. I thought I grabbed Rose Red and Garden Green as the two main colors to work with, but it turns out that I accidentally mixed up some of my papers and that I really grabbed Purely Pomegranate and Garden Green. To tell you the truth, I think I like this better! I used my SU! Paisley background stamp to give some texture to the base of the card and the green panel. The main image panel is stamped with PaperTrey’s Spiral Bouquet, which is where the sentiment is from, as well. The flourishes on top and bottom of the sentiment are from PaperTrey’s Square Borders and Corners set. Of course I had to add a little bling to the card, which you can see in the center of the flowers.
Ellie is back in school today and Tony and I have a fun day of cleaning ahead of us. We worked our way through the vacation laundry and unpacking most of the stuff already. So, today is going to be a bit of a beating, but I know that I will be enjoying a nice clean house when all is said and done. I hope you all are having more fun than me!
I’ll be back tomorrow with some more stampin’ stuff, then on Saturday I have a new Sketch For You To Try. On Sunday, Tony is back here blogging about yada yada yada. I’m gonna guess it’s not going to be about the Sooners performance last night. {yikes!!}
