A Box, A Template, A Frame and Snow Pic…
Mar 7th, 2008 by Jen
Well, I promised a box template today, so I am delivering a box template today. Of course I had to make another sample, tho!
This box uses the PaperTrey set, Out On A Limb. I did not get this set when it first came out, but then I kept seeing GORGEOUS creations made with it and I realized that it really fits my style and I will get a lot of use from it. So, now I the proud owner of yet another PTI set!
Here are the previous open and closed samples, and the template. **Click for larger views**

Please note that the template is not to scale is drawn for you as a reference to the directions. If your box “bows in” a little at first, don’t worry. It will stabilize when you add your decorative layers. If you have any questions, just let me know. My email link is under my pic.
Tony went to OU {University of Oklahoma} and is very much a Sooner fan, along with all his OU buds. A couple of his friends married UT grads {blasphemy according to Tony}.
I made this for one of the girls that went to UT we are friends with.

In Texas, they say “If you don’t like the weather, just wait 10 minutes.” Maybe not literally, but from day to day there can be some drastic changes! This week has been CRAZY. Monday night we were under a Tornado Watch, Tuesday it lightly snowed, Wednesday it was 80 degrees, Thursday is snowed 5 INCHES! {I know some of you have no pity on that!} and today it is sunny and cool. Here is a pic from yesterday’s snowfall.

what a great box! love them both, actually. thanks for sharing the template. I know! Crazy - are you in Dallas/Ft Worth area? I saw the snow in the news. I couldn’t believe how COLD it was in Austin yesterday! Look forward to meeting you in Arlington May 3
That’s funny, because I have that same PTI set on it’s way to me right now for that same reason! LOL Love the box! I’ll have to try one of those!
I love the box you made! That is a great PTI set and I did the same thing…after seeing gorgeous samples I just had to have it and it just arrived a few days ago. I can’t wait to try it out this weekend…maybe on a box! Thanks for the template…fantastic!
Love the box it is just TOO cute! All you samples are so nice, I really enjoy hopping by your blog to check out your awesome ideas!
This is absolutely gorgeous Jen!! Thanks for the wonderful template and tutorial!! I’m gonna have to try one of these!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Jen, I love that little box, so cute, thanks so much for the template. The snow, WOW what a drastic spectrum to go through. At least when it is cold here it stays that way for many, many, many days.
So, I am not sure how I stumbled upon your blog to begin with… but I read it everyday. I don’t update my own as often as I should because I read so many!!
I love all of your artwork. But today had to comment on the frame that you made!! The horns are upside down!! We are transplants up here in Seattle from OKlahoma… DH played for the Sooners and I love seeing that frame!! We hope to transfer to TX within the next two years… people up here just don’t get the Spirit like people in the Big 12~~ thanks for all the inspiration that you give daily!!
Thanks so much for the template. I plan to put that to some good use eventually.
I know what you mean about the OU and UT thingie. Although none of my family have attended either my uncle is HUGE OU fan. Although when I lived in Oklahoma my hubby and I (because of all the OU fans) chose to be OSU fans. I am not sure which one is worse but in OK that is a big game.
Again, thanks for the template and awesome projects. I am with you on the Out on a Limb set, but I still have yet to purchase it. I have no idea what I am waiting for.
GORGEOUS, Jen! Oh my! And THANK YOU for that template. I HAVE to make one of these beauties!
What a gorgeous box - thanks so much for the directions, I want to make one of these!! The frame is really cute too - love it!! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex

Take care, em
I LOVE this box! What a charming gift to give! The colors … overall design are beautiful!
I can’t believe it! I was away from home yesterday during all of the snow … without my camera!! **shaking my head** Great snow pic!
I can’t wait to try your template - these would make perfect little teacher gifts - TFS - Your talents are much appreciated!
GO BOOMER SOONERS!!! Your frame made me smile! I’m a OU fan & my BFF is a Texas fan…
What type of frame did you use? I have been looking around trying to find one like that that I can alter with some pretty paper!!
Thanks
Your box is absolutely gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Your weather sounds like the weather here, crazy!!
This box is so sweet! I have seen this PTI set over and over, and although I’ve told myself no more stamps until my craft room is done (thanks DH!) I may have to break that promise for this set. Our weather? Typical western PA March - 68 on Monday, 34 yesterday, in the midst of a storm - snow, sleet, freezing rain, snain, and thunder snow. But signs of spring are in the tips of the daffodils peaking through it all! Thanks for sharing all your wonderful ideas!
Where are you in Texas, here in San Antonio things are cold but no snow (much to my sons dismay) Thanks for sharing the template… Am going to give it a try.

Yikes, my hub graduated from OU. Would LOVE to find that paper!
The frame is gorgeous. I’m going out tonight and looking for a little hostess gift. Just printed out your tutorial. I think I found it now! Thanks for being so generous in sharing your ideas.
Jen..my kids were sad that we did not get any of that snow. (we live out of Houston) But that saying is right!
I love the frame idea. My daughter is at A&M, her fiance’ graduated from Texas. So I could make them a frame like that!
And the box is beautiful in that pink paper. How did you get the shadow effect on the branch? I love those stamps!!!
Jules

Great project and thanks for so much for the template too…you’re the best !!! You guys must have been shocked with the 5″ of snow !!! We had a huge storm this weekend and got 14″ on Saturday !!! It was our worst storm of the winter…..so far.
