November Diva Inspirations Hop…

Posted by Jen | Verve, blog hopping, cards | Tuesday, November 1, 2011

Happy November friends! Oh my goodness…NOVEMBER?? I swear I was **just** at the lake {in June!}. Does that mean that I need to start thinking about Christmas seriously now?…eek! I’m going to spend the day in my stamp room stamping and trying not to think about that it’s already November!

dih_nov_175

The first of every month brings a fun lil’ hop your way…the Verve November Diva Inspirations Hop. This hop starts at Julee’s blog and you should have come here from Dawn’s blog. Hopefully you’ve been hopping right along without missing a thing.

Today I am sharing another sympathy card. Unfortunately, last month I had to make two sympathy cards for people who lost their loved ones. Fortunately, Verve has great stamps to make elegant sympathy cards. This time I used the set, FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

I’ll keep you moving right along on this hop. Off you go to Jen Tapler’s blog for some more Verve-y goodness!

PSST…don’t forget to leave a little love {a comment} on each stop along the way {before Nov. 7} for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to the Verve store!

Oh, and one more VERY important thing…NEW stamps are coming your way! Yep, on November 11, new Verve stamps will be released! We’ll be having a party to celebrate from 9-11 EST in our forum on SCS. Sneak peeks begin on Nov. 9, but you might just get a super early sneak peek this weekend {wink!}.

Just Keep Swimming…

swim-for-katie

This post is for fellow stamper, Katie Renz, a beautiful woman diagnosed with inoperable stage 4 gastric cancer less than a year ago. In her last blog post, she writes about shopping for plots at cemeteries and coffins. So, when I was asked if I could be part of a blog hop to benefit Katie, a wife and mother that knows her time here is limited, of course I agreed. Making a card seems so insignificant in light of the truth she faces, but I hope that it helps in some way.

I am just one of 125 people that will shower Katie with a little stampy love over the course of the next 3 days in a benefit to raise funds for her family. You can find a full list of today’s hoppers at the end of this post. Be sure to leave a little love on Katie’s blog, too. Her story with this evil disease starts HERE and the inspiration for the octopus and “Keep Swimming” sentiment is on THIS post. All the details for this fundraiser to benefit Katie’s family can be found HERE on the i{heart}papers site.

Operation Julie’s Smile…

Posted by Jen | CAS, The Sweet Stamp Shop, blog hopping, cards | Friday, October 7, 2011

Hey, stampy friends {and family that come to check in on what I’m up to}! Today is a fun blog hopping day all in support of fellow stamper, Julie Ranae Murray, who we hope won’t be singing “All I Want For Christmas is my Two Front Teeth…” come December!

Before I get to her story, I want to take care of a little “hop business.” This is a HUGE blog hop and while we hope that there won’t be any breaks along the way, it is almost inevitable there will be. If you find yourself lost, you can always check back in at the beginning at THE SWEET STAMP SHOP blog. They were the ones responsible for organizing this great hop with some A-MAAA-ZING goodies up for grabs {more on that in a second!}. If everything has been going smoothly, you should have come here from Alice Wertz’s blog and later I will be sending you along to Stephanie Muzzulin’s blog. But for now, sit back, have a cuppa joe and relax.

So, why are we having this hop? Since my post is in the middle of the hop, I am guessing that you have read her story a time or two, but let me do a quick recap. Julie Ranae is currently without her two front teeth. I am pretty sure that this is something that you {and I} don’t even want to imagine having to go through. Due to medications taken when she was young, her teeth were in compromised condition and she recently chipped her front teeth. The dentist said that they could not be saved and recommended they be removed. At that time, he said that he would work a payment plan out with her. Unfortunately, when she called to make the appointment for the impressions she was told that she needed to pay $4000 up front and then another $3000 to finish the entire process. So now, she is {front} toothless and we are all coming together to raise a some money to put a dent in that bill and a smile back on Julie’s face.

I mentioned above that The Sweet Stamp Shop was the organizer of this ‘lil’” hop. I figured this was a pretty good time to check out and play with their stamps. I found this great set called OLD SCHOOL ROCK and knew that it must be mine. I love the fun, whimsy retro images…

Now that you’ve read Julie’s story and you’ve seen the card I made for the hop, can you help out our friend? If you can, and every penny counts, please donate here…

Remember those goodies up for grab that I mentioned a second ago? Well, there is over $2500 of those goodies waiting to be sent off to some very lucky and supportive people…like you {wink}. I have been informed that prizes will be drawn from a list of commenters {be sure to comment here and on as many of the other hop posts as you can…I know there is A LOT}, a list of donors {please help Julie!} and hop hosts {if I win, I will gladly give it to a commenter or donor!}.

Like I said, it’s a hop, so I can’t keep you here forever. Hop, hop, hop along to Stephanie Muzzulin’s blog! Happy hopping and THANK YOU for your support!

October Verve Diva Inspirations Blog Hop…

Welcome to your next stop along the October Verve Diva Inspirations Blog Hop…whew, that is a mouthful! Yep, it’s a hop, so be sure that you start at Julee’s blog. She also has a the full list of hoppers there, just in case you get lost along the way.

The best man from our wedding and his wife are expecting the arrival of their first baby soon. I had a lot of fun shopping for some itty bitty baby boy clothes the other day with Nic. Nic did more running around the displays and licking the floor to ceiling mirrors than actually helping me shop, but it was fun nonetheless. Yes, that’s my kid that you see and ask “Where is his mother!?” Ahhh…boys!!

Of course, I couldn’t send a gift without a card! Here’s what I came up with using the latest Mojo Monday sketch as a bit of inspiration {flipped and loosely interpreted} and the TO THE MOON stamp set from Verve

Buttons are my go to embellishment of choice these days. I couldn’t let a baby card go without a slew of coordinating buttons…

The “Snips & Snails” sentiment is stamped on a Tagged Rectangle die cut and I added the “Oh Boy” sentiment cut with my SU! circle punches…

I’ll keep ya hopping along now! You are off to Lynda’s blog for some more fabby Verve inspiration. Don’t forget to leave a comment at each stop along the way for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to the Verve store where EVERYTHING is currently on sale and 10% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen.

September Verve Diva Inspirations Hop…

Posted by Jen | Verve, blog hopping, cards | Thursday, September 1, 2011

divahop

September already? I have to say that it’s actually a welcome “surprise” that September snuck up on us so quickly. I used to think that I was a summer person and that the heat was better than the cold, that taking a dip into the pool was better than a fireside chat. Well, there’s nothing like 50 some odd days of 100+degree heat to beat that out of a person! I am ready for fall…sweater weather, football and Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Starbucks to go along with mild days and cool nights. It may be December before that happens around here, but I’m holding on to some hope that it may just come earlier!

In celebration {and hope} that fall truly is just around the corner, I made this card for the September Verve Diva Inspiration Hop…

Don’t these colors just scream hayride and hot apple cider?

This card uses the fall inspired set, Bountiful Harvest along with the Vintage Oval die and matching Vintage Oval Frame stamp.

I did mention that this was a hop, right? ;)

If you didn’t start at Julee’s blog, go ahead and take a minute to rewind to the beginning so that you don’t miss a thing. She will also have the full list of hoppers there. I’m the 4th stop along the hop and you should have hopped from Dawn’s blog to here. Now, I am sending you on your way to Lynda’s blog.

Happy hopping and don’t forget to leave some love {a comment} at each stop for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to the Verve store!
