Just Par-fect…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Whimsical Wishes, cards | Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Happy Release Day! The new sets, Doctor’s Orders and Boys Will Be Boys, are now available from Taylored Expressions. Today, I have another card using the masculine Boys Will Be Boys set. This is the card that Tony will be getting on Father’s Day. He loves to golf, although he rarely gets out to do so. I used some more of the paper from the Father’s Day Key Ingredients Kit, as well as some of the buttons. I’m keeping this short and sweet and hoping that my pics will do all the “talking.” ;)

Here’s another view. I put Diamond Glaze on the golf ball to give it a little extra dimension…

Tool Belt Card…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Whimsical Wishes, cards | Monday, May 4, 2009

Happy Monday! Today is day 2 {of 3} of sneak peeks for the next Taylored Expressions release {tomorrow!}. You and I both know that masculine sets that are easy and fun to use are hard to come by! I was so pleasantly surprised when I started “working” with this set! This is definitely on the top of my list for masculine sets. When I got this set out for the first time, I went straight for the tool belt. Not because the men in my life are particularly handy, but rather I just really liked the image! LOL!

In addition to using the Taylored Expressions set, Boys Will Be Boys, I also used the Father’s Day Key Ingredients Kit paper and buttons. The metal sheet and charm are also available through TE when the bundle is purchased. I ran the metal sheet through the Cuttlebug with my Houndstooth embossing folder. I then pierced around the edges.

Sniffles…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Stamp A Sweet Impression, cards | Sunday, May 3, 2009

I am sure that there are plenty of you that are feeling the full effect of spring. Sniffles and sneezes and cursing your allergies! I really don’t have bad allergies, just enough to drive me {and Tony} and little crazy. LOL! Anywhooooo… this is day one {of three} of sneak peeks of the May release from Taylored Expressions. Today I am showing you a peek of the set, Doctor’s Orders. I just had to use the tissue stamp as I sniffled through yet another spring day here in North Texas.

First Saturday of the Month…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, May 2, 2009

Does anyone else get really excited about the first Saturday of the month like I do? I love introducing the new Designer of the Month. All of the past designers have been absolutely incredible and this month’s designer is equally as talented! Please welcome Julie Lacey!!!

A little about Julie in her own words…
WOW, thank you so much to Jen for inviting me to be the guest designer for the month of May. I’ve been a “stalker” of Jen’s sketches for quite some time now, and am completely honored to be able to work with the rest of her awesome team!
A little about me…I work full time as a Controller for a large grocery distribution company in Northfield, Minnesota. I recently completed my Master’s in Business Administration and spend most of my time and energy working. When I’m not at work, I spend time with my husband Jeff, and our 4 dogs (Lexie, Winnie, Dublin and Henry), and tending to 3 acres of lawn! I’m active in several animal rescue efforts, including Miniature Pinscher Rescue and the local Humane Society.
My love for stamping was rekindled a few years ago through a friend at work. I found Splitcoaststampers shortly thereafter and have been busy stamping ever since. I’m lucky enough to design for There She Goes stamps, Little Paper Shop, and Stamps and Smiles.

Onto the sketch for this week…

I hope that you will play along! Since last week’s winner never came out of the woodwork, I have to sweeten the pot. All participants will be entered to win a very sweet blog tart goodie bag filled to the brim with all things paper crafting. Just link your entry{ies}…enter as many times as you wish {each card counts as one entry} here on Mr. Linky and don’t forget to use the keyword “SFYTT” on SCS…

ABC Friday…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey, Verve, projects, random ramblings | Friday, May 1, 2009

TGIF y’all! Hope everyone had a great {and productive} week. I have been creating like crazy…as you all have seen! Today I have 3 {of the same} projects to show you. I got some of Jody’s die cuts and I can’t put them down…and I was already addicted to the dimensional boosters that she has. BTW-the boosters I use are the same shape as SU! ones, but basically made with red-line adhesive…AWESOME! The die cut that I used for today’s creations is the Candy Box {the first one on her die cut sale page}. Before I even got started creating, I brainstormed some ideas for these. Here are a few that I came up with:

-Just Because/Friend
-Thank You
-Wedding Favor
-Kid’s Party Favor
-Office/Co-worker Birthday
-Teacher Gifts {you know it’s that time of year!!}
-Sports Team and/or Coach Gifts/Incentives
-Any Holiday Theme
-Place Setting {put names on them}
…I am sure there are a ton more, but I stopped here because I had enough to get started on these…

This is one that I made with a sports team theme. When I played soccer in high school we had secret sisters and this would have been perfect to fill with goodies or even team colored hair bows. I forgot to anti-static my paper before I used super fine black embossing powder, but I actually like the way that it came out…kinda matching the distressed look of the PTI stamp…

Yep, I embossed the candy box with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. You have to be a little creative to do it since it is not a perfect fit, but it is definitely {and easily} do-able. I put the embossing folder over the center part of the candy box and then folded the end pieces/flaps on top of the folder and then ran it through. It isnt’ quite long enough, so you have to do it from the other side, too.

The next one I made can be for a wedding or party favor. The bright colors of this one say “party” to me, but if tone down the colors, these would make fab wedding favors. Again, where were these when I was making my own wedding favors 5 years ago?
jodycandyd
See those glittery dots? I made those, too! I used Jody’s sticky dots and placed them all over the paper and then sprinkled pink glitter on top…viola, sparkle paper! Note: you only need to put the dots on 4 of the 5 sides because one them is tucked/adhered under to make it into a square shape. Here’s pic of the paper with all the dots on it…

Finally, here is one that would be perfect for a “Just Because” type gifty. You can always change up the sentiment and embellishment to make it for any occasion. I think that these would make cute place cards for a holiday dinner or wedding. The “Friend” stamp is from the new release “Because of You” from Verve Stamps.

Here are a few detail shots from when I created this…

Give the edges some “flair” by using a border punch {one of those new EK Success ones here}. I think that EK Success has one that has either or both ABC/123 and I think that would be SO CUTE for teacher gifts!
jodycandydetail1

I covered each side with white embossed cardstock and then matted it with pink cardstock. Again, you only have to do 4 of the 5 sides, because you glue one under.

The dimensions of the cardstock pieces are: 2 3/8″ x 1 3/8″ and 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4″.
