Somebunny Loves You…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Stamp A Sweet Impression, cards | Sunday, March 15, 2009

When I left Dallas the other day it was cold, windy and rainy…a far cry from the spring weather that I am craving {and getting here in San Diego}. I am loving all the spring and Easter stuff that is in the stores…paper and not paper related. Fortunately, I do have lots {and lots} of spring-y paper, including the new line from Making Memories…Flower Patch {CUUUTE!}. I paired that paper up with one of the new images from the Taylored Expressions’ set Sweet Spring.

Instead of using the patterned paper on the larger panel, I used it as the scalloped rectangle and did a solid color for the larger panel {embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder}. I also used the patterned paper for the cupcake paper {paper pieced}. My finishing touches include the acrylic accent that acts as the cherry on top and the three buttons to the left of the sentiment {also part of the Sweet Spring set}.

Have a happy Sunday!

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, March 14, 2009

Happy Saturday! I’m having fun a great time here in San Diego with Ellie and my in-laws. So far we have been hanging out, to the zoo, birthday present shopping and to the park. Lots of fun! I also made it over to Stamp Addict and managed to pick up a few stamps to bring home. Between here and NYC last weekend, I have lot of new rubbah to play with…YAY!

Of course I have another SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY
sfytt_031409

I made this the day before I left and now realize that I completely left out a panel…OOPS! Let’s just pretend that there is a kraft or white panel behind the oval. I’m pretty sure that I would use kraft, but I know that I would check to see what white looked like. Both the image and sentiment for my card are from Stamping Bella.

ABC Friday ~ With Love Frame…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Glue, projects | Friday, March 13, 2009

Welcome to another edition of ABC {Anything But A Card} Friday! Today I am showing you a frame that I made the day before I left to come to San Diego. This is actually a 4-section shallow tray from Glue. I am pretty sure that these are about the greatest trays/frames around to make personal gifts. I think that this is the 4th one that I have made…and I rarely do something more than once, which is really more of a time constraint thing rather than a personal choice.

I started with the plain unfinished tray and painted it white. The squares are layered with Papertrey Dark Chocolate, Sweet Blush and Stamper’s Select White. The top square is cut out with scallop square Nestabilities and then embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder for Cuttlebug. It is also mounted on dimensional glue dots for added depth. The swirls are cut from Prism Intense Kiwi cardstock with the Basics 3 Slice cartridge. I added Prima flowers, acrylic accents and brads as the finishing touches to the squares.

Along the outer edges of the frame, I applied a scalloped scalloped {yes, I said that twice on purpose} edge. This is a fun new punch from EK Success that creates a scalloped edge, but the scallops actually have scallops on them, too! Very fun! The bird in the center is a Jenni Bowlin chipboard piece that I covered with American Crafts cardstock. The wing is the same Prism Intense Kiwi as that swirls in the squares. I also ran it through the Swiss Dots embossing folder to coincide with the texture inside the squares. The sentiment is from PSX {”retired”} and is topped off with another Prima, and button like the ones that I applied to the four outer corners.

I hope you enjoyed this ABC Friday as much as me! See you tomorrow for another Sketch For You To Try!

Greetings From San Diego…

Posted by Jen | Verve, cards | Thursday, March 12, 2009

Hi everyone! Ellie and I arrived yesterday morning in San Diego and have been soaking up the sun…very much unlike the cold and rainy weather that we left behind in Dallas. Even with all the bright sunshine, I am still nursing an annoying cough that continues to linger…ugh! I am sitting here with a cup of hot green tea with milk and honey trying to calm the cough. Anyone have any tricks they care to share? I am all ears!

Even though I am miles away from my stamping supplies, I have plenty to show you. Today I have a couple more projects from the latest Verve release. This first card uses stamps from the Beautiful Kindness set. Like some of the Valentine’s sets, this one uses a combination of fonts in different sizes that make it easy to make the sentiment the focal point. I used great new paper from Imaginesce {available at eclectic Paperie} in combination with Stamper’s Select White {PTI}, Old Olive and Always Artichoke {SU!}.

You know that I {{{{heart}}}}} baby stamps, so I was pretty thrilled when some of the sets from this release were baby related. This card uses stamps from the Practically Perfect set. I really don’t think that this card is my usual style, but I like the way that it came out. I had jotted down a bunch of ideas in my notebook and really just threw most of them together here.

Guest Designer Position…

Posted by Jen | random ramblings | Wednesday, March 11, 2009

A few weeks ago Katharina from Whiff of Joy contacted me and asked me if I wanted to join her design team. Unfortunately, I am not able to take on any more design teams full time {only so many hours in day!}. Stay tuned for project using Whiff of Joy stamps soon!

I’m off to San Diego today, but have some stuff ready to post for the rest of the week. I will be checking emails as much as possible, but if I don’t get back to you right away, that’s why. I hope to meet up with some of the SoCal girls while I am there and do some shopping!
