First Saturday of the Month & Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop…

Posted by Jen | Bella, Verve, blog hopping, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, August 1, 2009

There’s a lot going on today! It’s the first Saturday of the month, which means I get to introduce a new Designer of the Month who will be joining the SFYTT Sisters for the entire month of August. It’s also Verve Stamps’ ANNI-VERVE-SARY Blog Hop!

bloghopavs

If you are hopping along, be sure you started on the Verve blog, came from Teresa’s blog and when you are done here, hop along to Jackie’s blog. And to make this party a real shindig, there’s a mystery jackpot hidden at one of the stops along the hop. One lucky commenter on that blog will win Verve’s entire August release! But of course, it wouldn’t be a mystery if you knew which blog, would it? So if you’re feeling the love, give a little shout out to the bloggers in the hop and you just might have a reason to jump for joy!

Since this is a blog hop, the normal layout of this post is a little different. Scroll down to meet this month’s Designer of the Month. :)

Here’s a little about Megan in her own words…
Hi, I’m so excited to be part of the fun Jen provides with the SFYTTs! After I got the email, I explained to DH what had just happened, he said, “ah, you’re moving up in the world!” Ha. Men, especially my kind of husband, are funny. I have been stamping since I was a little kid, but have really gotten into it (aka addicted) about a year ago. My most favorite designers are on this team and it’s a pleasure and joy to be with y’all.

I’ve been married for a little over a year. We were married on the island of Kauai, Hawaii and now make our home in Oklahoma with our two Boxer babies, Emmitt and Ellie. I am a Registered Dietitian and I work for a dialysis center, constantly telling people what to eat, while I sit in my office and eat Starbursts. And cookies. And Starbuck’s biscotti. :) I also enjoy cooking, wine tasting, reading, beading, and knitting. I pretend to like gardening so my DH thinks I like helping him outside. I’m thrilled to be working on these sketches and look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Bella-rific Friday…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards, challenges | Friday, July 31, 2009

I was trying to wait until Emily posted the Bella-rific Friday post up on the Bella blog, but that hasn’t happened yet. I am going to go ahead and do this post, though. I usually don’t post my card that I did for the sketch on the same day that Emily posts all the cards. I decided to mix it up a little and go ahead and do that today. The sketch for this week can be found HERE. I went ahead and made a 4.25″ square. I like doing this size card because they fit into a regular envie and don’t require extra postage {bonus!}. Here’s what I came up with…

Can you tell that I am still in love with that Dream Street paper? It is probably my fave at the moment and I can’t get enough of it!! LOL! I think that I about to run out, so it won’t seem like such a re-run here. BTW, if you are not familiar with Bella-rific Fridays, you may want to check ‘em out, as Emily gives away some $$ to spend in the Bella store…helpful for weeks like this one where there was a super cute release.

Crazy For Kettos…

As everyone gets on their way to CHA, I will be here. I wish I could go because I know that I can’t go to the winter show. The whole giving birth within days of the show gets in the way of that one. Next summer is a possibility; however, I will have 6 month old then. Are they taking reservations for Winter 2011, yet? LOL! Needless to say, I am a little bummed, but I know that it’s not the end of the world. Ellie is going to her first VBS this week and I plan to spend some time with Susan going to various fun places in town, and crafting and cleaning. I have super spy shoppers at the show for me, too, just in case there is anything that I *must* have *now.*

For today, I actually have a card that I made last week and forgot to post. The image is Phoebe Ketto from Stamping Bella. I love the whimsy and funkiness of the Ketto line! These are so fun to pair with bright color combos that pop.
This card is now on display at Scrapper’s Boutique, but the stamp is already sold out. More are on the way, though!

Speaking of Scrapper’s Boutique, I had a GREAT time teaching the Copic classes! Thank you to all the ladies that attended the classes! It was great to see familiar faces, as well as meet new ones! There are more classes already set up for August and September. Please call the store to get registered. :) BTW…she just got Copics in and they are priced right! If you are local, be sure to check ‘em out!

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards, challenges | Saturday, July 25, 2009

Hooray for Saturday! I am totally excited that I am teaching my first classes at the new Scrapper’s Boutique. It’s the only non-corporate store that we have on this side of town. Lots of friendly SCS faces are coming, so I am excited about that, too.

Ellie is all better now, as noted by the sassy 3 year-oldness that has been heard around here. I have been getting a little more stamping done this week, although my room is a royal M-E-S-S!! I am just dying to get these Ikea workstation in there. Not gonna happen for a long while, though. The will-be-in-January nursery has to convert back into a play room {where all my current furniture will go}. So for now, all I can say is “some day.” Anyways, back to the sketch stuff. Here is this week’s sketch…

Fun Friday…

Posted by Jen | Bella, The Cat's Pajamas, cards, projects | Friday, July 24, 2009

I am so excited that it’s Friday! I have a ton of housework to do today, but that’s ok, my house needs it. There are also more Dare To Get Dirty challenges on SCS for Fan Club members. Tomorrow I am teaching Copic 1 and 2 at the Scrapper’s Boutique. These classes are closed for registration, but I have 2 more days in August and at least one more in September that I will be teaching.

I have several projects to show you, too! The first one is a CD holder that I made with the new The Cat’s Pajamas stamps {and the cool new Nightie alpha that was released a couple months ago}. The instructions came from the super talented Cambria and can be found on her CD holder HERE. This project also contains the new line of TCP embellishments: {German glass} glitter, buttons and ribbon.

Next up is my card for today’s Bellarific Friday. This card did not turn out the way that I wanted it to. I colored the image with red and light blue, trying to give a “diner” type feel. I don’t think I came through with the papers. Ugh! That happens from time to time. This card will probably keep it’s home in my studio. :)

All of the paper and embellishments are from Stamping Bella, as well. Love those frosted acrylic accents!! YUM!
