Sketch For You to Try {Winner Announced}…

Posted by Jen | SFYTT 2010, The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 30, 2010

Saturday, already? Halloween, still? WOW, this week went by fast and I love Halloween, but I can’t believe it’s not over yet! LOL! Ellie had a Halloween party at school on Thursday, one today and, of course, Halloween Trick-or-Treating tomorrow. She is a mermaid this year and Nic is going to be her crab{by} friend. I hope the both of them will cooperate for a few pics!

I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to Laura Pryor of Lil’ Inker Designs for sponsoring us last week! I hope you enjoyed seeing all the fun stuff you can do with that die/set combo. It is a lot of fun! The random participant from last week that wins this die/set combo is {insert drumroll here ;)}…

Verve Release Day…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, Verve, cards, projects | Friday, October 29, 2010

Today’s the day. Or should I say that tonight’s the night {cue Black Eyed Peas}? Verve will be releasing new stamps AND DIES tonight at 9pm EST. I may have noticed that I haven’t posted the last few days. It’s not because I don’t have anything to show. Tony’s grandma has been visiting and we have been busy with kiddo stuff and hanging out having fun. Then, yesterday the internet went out compliments of my neighbor having some work done at his house. No internet does not equal a happy Jen! LOL! All that being said, I have more than a post’s worth to show today. So, grab your coffee or Diet Coke and sit back, relax and enjoy!

On Monday, I showed you one of the fancy schmancy tags I made for one of Tony’s co-workers. I made 2 others to make it a set of 3 for her. This one uses the new Verve set, Glad Tidings, the Plain Jane, Christmas Blessings and the stamp for the Vintage Oval Frame die {die is coming soon due to some manufacturing errors}…

This next one features the new set, Richly Blessed…

This next tag is from the other trio that I made. I showed 2 of these smaller tags featuring the Sweet Scallop Tag stamp AND DIE on Monday. Here is the third…

Finally, this card features Merry Wishes. I LOVE the tree/foliage stamps along with the sentiments that round out this MUST HAVE set…

One, Two, Three, FOUR Verve Sneak Peek Projects…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, Product Review, Verve, cards | Monday, October 25, 2010

Today kicks off a week of sneak peeks to the next Verve release happening THIS FRIDAY! There’s something for everyone in this release, including intricate winter stamps and simple sentiments. Today I am showing you a little of this and a little of that! Be sure to catch all the peeks that the Divas have for you {they are linked below}.

One of Tony’s co-workers requested some fancy Christmas tags. I knew when I got my Holiday Phrases set that they would be the perfect compliment to these elaborate tags…

I made a few other tags that are a little more sweet and simple. Do you love the tag design and shape? More to come about that coming soon **wink wink**

This one uses a very sweet set called Munchkin Phrases. I paired it with a die cut from an older CuttleKids die set and some Primas and tulle…
***REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION***

This one uses a sentiment from the Friendly Phrases set…

Last, but not least this one is from the new set {to be released Friday, Oct 29}, Winter Mittens. These are perfect for paper piecing and/or coloring!

Lil’ Inker Sponsored Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | SFYTT 2010, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 23, 2010

Happy Saturday Friends! This week we have yet another GREAT sponsor for SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY..Laura Pryor of Lil’ Inker Designs. She has created a darling stamp set with a matching flag die {check it out HERE!}…so cute!

Here’s this week’s sketch! It’s based off of THIS card that I did a little while back. I have to say that this is one of my faves of all time and this will certainly be a “go to” one for me!

Here’s my second take on this sketch, using the flag die in banner form…

I used some “old” alpha stamps from Making Memories to create the sentiment on the banner. This came together so quickly and easily. I will definitely be keeping this die close at hand to make more of these!

Lesa Smaligo, this month’s Designer of the Month, created this cutie patootie sample…

Boo Stacker…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Holidays, projects | Friday, October 22, 2010

I mentioned in a previous post that I have been on a Halloween home decor kick to replace much of what was lost in a mold filled tub that we pulled down from the attic. If you missed that post, just be sure that everything you put in tubs is DRY! We put one of those fake headstones and it still had moisture in/on it and it ended up ruining all of our Halloween stuff.

This actually isn’t decor in my house. I ended up giving it to Ellie’s teacher for a Halloween gifty. It’s super easy to re-create, so I might just have to make another for me!

Detail shots of bottom and top…

I started out with three wooden blocks, painted them black and then Mod Podge’d various Halloween paper squares on each side. I added the letters {cut from Make the Cut on my Cricut} and adhered black rhinestone embellishments for detail. On the bottom, I added wooden balls that I painted and glittered with black Martha Stewart glitter. As for the top, I created a layered bow and then added buttons and a K & Co, spider that I picked up a couple of years ago.

Alright, I hear the wee one stirring. See ya here tomorrow for another great SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY!

ETA: Black and white ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, orange ribbon is Martha Stewart and paper is K&Co. found at Mike’s :)
