Your Next Stamp…

Clever lil’ name for a stamp company, right? I discovered them a little while back and love the images. Right when I got them I created a few cards and this is one of them…
mermaidswimmingby

The image above uses the Just Swimming By set. I love all the Under the Sea sets. I guess I am a sucker for all things beachy!

The owner, Karen, recently came out with some really cute fall and winter images. One of my favorites is Fhiona with Friend Penguin and I can happily say that it is on it’s way to my mailbox…yay!!

What do you think of the layout? I’m diggin’ it. I don’t know that it’s traditionally my style, but I like it. I might just have to save it for future use {hint, hint!}. Speaking of sketches…don’t forget to play along this week for a chance to win a fun goodie bag!

On another note, thank you to everyone for your kind words about me missing my trip. I was really bummed, but I know that all things happen for a reason. I got caught up on some sleep that I think that my body really needed. Ellie is still stuffy, but she feels ok, so I am happy! Well, off to help her practice writing letters…oh, and I have to unpack my suitcase {sniffle}. Have a great day!

See deets way below!

Greetings from North TX. I am actually writing this early, knowing that I will be on a plane this morning heading to a quick visit with my parents this weekend. I am looking forward to seeing them and basking in the Arizona sun. For those of you that don’t know, I spent many of my younger years in the Valley of the Sun…a.k.a. Phoenix. I went to 3 of the 4 years of high school out there and then went on to graduate from Arizona State University. After college I needed a change and decided to move to San Diego. At the time of the decision, I had no place to live and no job. EEK! Well, I didn’t end up on the street panhandling. I ended up answering an ad that stated that there was a room for rent in downtown San Diego with utilities included. Wanna know who my landlord was?…the one and only…Tony! We’ve now been married for 6 years! I ended up finding a job, too. I guess everything worked out.

EDIT: The trip is a NO GO! The stars have not aligned and we will not be going. I am BUMMED! Ellie is sniffly and sneezy, I am still not 100% so it just isn’t going to work out. Whhaaaa! (yep, I really did cry!)

Onto this week’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY

Here’s my take on the sketch using Prism Papers and a Papertrey stamp…
sfytt1010

I had heard that Prism papers work like a dream in electronic die cutting machines. It’s true! The blade cuts through them like buttah!! As you can see, I continue to be addicted to my Spook Alley design card for the Slice!

A couple of detail shots of the glittery punched pieces I added…

Blowin’ It Up…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, random ramblings | Friday, October 9, 2009

Ellie’s often says something or makes some sort of face that cracks me up. Recently, she was attempting to blow up a balloon and watch it expand with air at the same time. This is the picture that I captured…

So, here’s what’s been happening around here…

I am off to Phoenix on Saturday with Ellie for a very quick trip to visit my parents. I haven’t seen them for a while and probably won’t again until after baby boy del Muro is born, so I am looking forward to this trip…and my mom’s homemade crepes!

This week I wasn’t feeling all too well. I had awful abdominal cramping. I went to my OB just make sure that it had nothing to do with baby. Everything is fine and baby is secure in his current home for the next 14 weeks. Geez…that doesn’t seem all that far off now that I say it like that!

I have been working on a few of Prism Guest Designer projects. A couple of them with be featured exclusively on the Prism blog and I will have another for you with this week’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.

The Verve Project Parade continues on the Verve Blog. You could win some serious $$ to spend in the Verve store for playing along. My project was sneaked here on my last post.

The Cat’s Pajamas is gearing up for another release a week from Tuesday. I know that seems far off now, but I thought I would give you the head’s up. Also, Alma just sent the DT their holiday release kits and O-M-G! That’s all I gotta say now.

See ya tomorrow for a new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY!

First Saturday of the Month…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 3, 2009

As you read this, it’s possible that I am further punishing myself by taking part in Day 2 of our very own garage sale…as known as my own personal hell. Yesterday went well, but of course not without event. My dear sweet friend Susan {Sus Sus…as Ellie affectionately calls her} came over to help with the madness. We had price switchers, a lady who swore that the somewhat giant earth worm writhing in the heat of the sun on my driveway was a baby snake and I needed to do something about it {yes, seriously} and a lady who asked me to “bag this stuff up” while she continued to look around. Oh, the restraint I showed not retorting to that…Hello, it’s a GARAGE SALE! Ellie came out to help for a little bit. I don’t think that she realized that we were ditching some of HER toys, because she went up to a little kid carrying around her old doll and said, “I have that toy, too!” Priceless! I hope to gather up a few more stories today! I can only image what people will come up with!!

Well, enough of my oh-so-eventful garage sale blabber. I have a few announcements to make in regards to the SFYTT line-up…

First, Carole has chosen to exit stage right on the DT biz and as a SFYTT Sister. She is an incredibly talented stamper and a wonderful friend of mine and I sincerely hope that one day she will find her way back into all things stamping. I wish her well on her personal endeavors.

I wasn’t planning on “replacing” Carole {she can’t really be “replaced” anyways!}, but a little birdie told me that there was interest from a certain someone to jump on board. I asked. She said “Yes,” so I welcome Leigh O’Brien to the SFYTT Sisters. She just hopped on our team yesterday, so be looking for all her great SFYTT creations in the future, so you can always check out her talents on HER BLOG.

Also, it’s the first Saturday of the month, so I get to welcome a new Designer of the Month!…I love being able to do this each month!! This month, I introduce LORELIE KIM!
lorelie-kim

Here’s a little about Lorelie in her own words…
I’m Lorelie Kim and I’m a soon-to-be 36 year old wife to a wonderful man name Danny and mom to two wonderful sons, Marcus and Evan. I’m also a Rubber Stamp Junkie and Paperholic - two of the best addictions! I was in retail management for several years before becoming a SAHM. Soon after having my children I discovered the creative world of rubber stamping and scrapbooking, which was over 10 years ago. My first passion was scrapbooking (I still do it when time permits…I have 15 scrapbooks to prove it!) but cardmaking has become my main focus. I have my own craft room filled with all kinds of supplies and tools (my “creative arsenal” if you will). I practically live in in there! I’m currently on two design teams and have recently started to design stamp sets for Our Daily Bread designs.

It was a wonderful surprise to receive an e-mail from Jen inviting me to be October’s Guest Designer. I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to Jen for allowing me to grace her wonderful blog with my cards!
