How Do YOU Glue…

Posted by Jen | Glue, projects | Monday, July 20, 2009

It’s not Friday…as if you needed a reminder of that! However, I do have an ABC project for you. This is a Crafter’s Card File {on sale!} from Glue Art & Paper Studio. I have been on their design team for a long time, but as a whole, we have taken a bit of a hiatus. Now, we are back in biz-ness of creating something each month. I last saw these wonderful ladies at the Great American Scrapbook Show in Arlington and that is when Vicki showed me a set that she had done covered with “leather” paper. I knew that I had to give it a try. I picked up this red “leather” paper at JoAnn. They have several colors, and if I recall correctly, there are a few textures, as well. I picked this one because I had just seen a very expensive desk set done with real red leather and I just thought that it looked so slick. The rest of the color inspiration comes from a summer dress that I saw when I was out shopping not too long ago.

Since the rolodex is pretty much obsolete, having been replaced by technology, these are pure crafty-ness! There are so many ideas for these. I plan to use mine as a inspiration/sketch-o-dex. When I am in need of inspiration or a sketch, I can flip through here {or maybe blindly pull one out} and have an idea at hand. One of the ladies at the LSS said that she wanted to make a quote “book” for her kids out of this. I have also seen bible verses, recipes and various other ideas being used with these card files {they come in different sizes, too!!}.

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, July 18, 2009

Happy Saturday All! This has been one heck of a week! Since last Thursday, Ellie has had an asthma attack, an allergic reaction, diagnosis of type-A flu and a lower respiratory infection. UGH! Finally, with a lot of love, sleep and medicine she is well on her way to becoming the little girl that we know again. Thank goodness! Needless to say, finding the time to do my sketch card has been non-existent. Don’t worry, I still have the sketch for you {to try}, and Regina has a darling sample.

So, here’s this week’s sketch…

Project Parade Time…

Posted by Jen | Verve, cards, challenges | Thursday, July 16, 2009

Today is the first day of the Verve Project Parade over on the Verve Blog. If you are not familiar with the Project Parade, it’s basically a celebration of new Verve stamps and new ideas how to use them. Well, this month is a little different. This month’s theme is called “Divine Details” and the inspiration for using this theme came from people asking “How do you come up with your designs” and various other “How did you do that?” type questions. We are going to be posting cards/projects and tell about our design process{es}, hints and answer various questions like, “What do you do when you get stuck?” I think this is going to be one of the best Project Parades yet {I think that every month, tho!}.

I’m going to show you my card here, but hop on over to the blog where all of the Divine Details are. All of the Verve Divas will be posting their cards and processes through the end of the month. I haven’t seen what they have come up with, so I am just as excited as you. There is also a chance for you to play along and win some Verve stamps…gotta love that!!

Gotta Have Faith…

Posted by Jen | cards, taylored expressions | Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Update on Ellie: I took Ellie to the doctor first thing yesterday, since she was still not getting better after 4 days. It turns out that she has the flu! Poor baby!! We had to go for a chest x-ray, too. It’s another movie and happy nappy day around the del Muro house. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes. It’s been a very trying few days, but as the title of this post says, you gotta have faith.

I actually had this card made over a week ago, but it seems very fitting to post it today. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions’ new set, Faith & Hope. Both the bird and the decorative shape panel are from the Wedding cartridge from the Slice. I would have never thought to buy this cartridge because it was wedding, but there are great panels like this one, as well as a ton a great flowers.

We are going back to the doc this morning for another check on Ellie’s condition. I expect that it will be more of the same…get rest, more fluids. I just wish doc could prescribe something for the whining!!! I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but after 5 days of it I just want it to stop {by means of my lil’ one getting better!!}. Have a great day. I think I will be posting here tomorrow, but if not, check in on my Sketch For You To Try this Saturday.

Fun Bella Creations…

Posted by Jen | Bella, cards, challenges, projects | Monday, July 13, 2009

As I write this, Ellie and I are in San Diego. We flew out last week and then went to Disneyland the day after her birthday. While the day was great, the following have been just short of hell with visits to the ER, allergic reactions and high fever {Ellie}. Tony is at home in Texas {he had to leave early} not feeling red hot, either. What a fun bunch we are! I’m sad that we had to cancel Ellie’s big birthday party, but we still had a small celebration last night with a few family members. I will have pics to share of Disney and the party {and party pooper} later this week.

For now, I have a couple of Bella creations to share with you. This first one is my ATC that I did for the ATC swap that I hosted recently. I have to admit that I “cheated” a little by only using a sentiment, because I just plain ran out of time and I wanted to come up with something cute…
