TCP on ABC Friday…

Today is release day for the new The Cat’s Pajamas set, It’s A Mod, Mod World. It’s a Clearly Swanky set…swanky indeed!

When I first got this set, I sat down and looked at all the images and wondered, “What fun project can I do with this?” I had a few ideas, but then, on a trip to Hobby Lobby, I saw a windchime…LIGHTBULB ON! I could make a mobile using the Rocket Ship!! And, I did…

Here are a couple different shots, showing the top and underside of the mobile…

In addition to the mobile, I have another project to share with you. This is a “crayon box” cut from my Cricut Tag, Bags and Boxes cartridge. Yes, it is the shape of a crayon box, but don’t think that you are going to fit any crayons in there…unless you have an Expression, maybe. I cut little notecards with a rectangle Nestabilities die and slipped them into the box. The lighting isn’t the greatest, but here are a couple of pics…

Have a wonderful weekend. Tomorrow I will have a GREAT Sketch For You To Try and I will be announcing the winner of THIS BLOG TART.

I would also like to take a moment to thank Andrea {Andi} Hays for making me the Featured Crafter on her blog, Crafts On A Whim. Thanks, girlie!

You can’t tell from the pic, but the “glass” on the rocket is covered in Diamond Glaze. The stars in the background were stamped on my glue pad and then sprinkled with Martha Stewart ultra fine glitter.

I’ll see you tomorrow for 2 ABC projects that feature more from this release.

Prince Charming and Stuff…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Well, it’s Tuesday…TCP Tuesday. If you’re just tuning into TCP Tuesday, let me fill you in a bit…

tcptuesdaylogo_1.jpg

1. Each a week one of the The Cat’s Pajamas DT members will host a challenge.
2. The challenges will vary {color, theme, sketch, etc.}
3. You will have until Saturday night to complete the challenge.
4. Link your project on that week’s hostess’ challenge announcement. This week you will link your project HERE.
5. TCP stamps are not required, but of course, highly encouraged. {Unless it is a challenge calling for a specific stamp}
6. There will be one winner each month. They will be deemed that month’s Swankiest Stamper and get $25 in Cat’s Cash {money to spend on the TCP site!}.

This week Leigh is the Hipster Hostess with the Mostess and she is issuing a sketch challenge to you. Click on her name to see all the deets. My sample uses the cutie patootie Prince Charming frog and sentiment from the Puppy Love set. The bottom portion background was created with the Bubbles stamp. I wanted a fun color scheme. I recently picked up the latest issue of Real Simple magazine and a few pages in there is an ad for Kohl’s where a girl is wearing a dress that is two shades of green, black and white. Being that this is TCP, I had a throw in something “swanky”…HOT PINK! {SU!’s Pink Passion}. I find inspiration EVERYWHERE!

Some “STUFF” you should know about…

1. Tomorrow I am having a MAJOR blog candy give away!!! LOTS of stamp sets, plus Primas, Swarovskis, etc!!!

2. Check out THIS SET from Technique Tuesday {on Oh My Crafts}. Proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen.

3. MFT is having a sale today through Friday. Here is the message from Kim {MFT’s owner}:
A few months ago, I posted about a friend, Tish, who’d been diagnosed with a very rare form of ovarian cancer. Tish battled through 6 rounds of chemo only to discover two additional tumors, one on her spine and one in her stomach. My heart fell when I read her CaringBridge post which broke the news. Since her diagnosis last August, the family has held the motto of DRIVE ON! in dealing with this aggressive cancer and fought a valiant fight. Tish lost her battle early Tuesday morning, and I found out about it late last night. Tish leaves behind two beautiful, young sons and a hubby, Todd, who I worked with for several years in my past life. I know Todd much better than I knew Tish, and know just how difficult this has been and will continue to be for the immediate future. Prior to Tish passing, a benefit was planned to help the family recover from the mounting medical bills and ensure a bright future for the boys, Tucker and Tanner. The benefit is still underway, but with a more solemn feel. My husband and I are donating some items to a silent auction, and this is a picture of the gift card holder for that auction. The content of the gift card is about $200 in MFT merchandise, and I know every little bit helps. But I want to do more.

Todd was the most compassionate, tender-hearted *boss* I’ve ever had, and I want more than anything to really help this family.

So what I’ve decided to do is two-fold: 1) Starting tomorrow {Tuesday}, I am offering a 10% discount on ALL stamps on the site. Use the coupon code Tish at checkout to receive 10% off all all the stamps in your shopping cart. (It won’t discount your other merchandise, just stamps.) The coupon code will run from Tuesday, April 15th-Friday, April 18th. 2) I will donate 10% of ALL proceeds (including money spent on other items on the site) to the family at their April 26th benefit.

FYI***The discount is only for retail customers***

I am making it my goal to personally make the payments on the FL College Pre-Paid plan for the boys during an entire year which will be about $1200. Please help me reach this goal.

Appletini Anyone?…

Posted by Jen | Bella, Ellie, Family, cards | Monday, April 14, 2008

Hope you all had a great weekend! I came down with what we commonly refer to as “the crud” around here on Saturday night…ugh! Fortunately before that, I got in a little stamping time and we went to Chuckee Cheese with some friends {in lieu of the duck pond bc it was a little chilly}.
First, I have to say that I am **so mad** {ha!} at Emily for continually adding new stuff to the Stamping Bella site. There is always new stuff to ogle at, wish for and eventually purchase. This image is named Springtini…cute, huh!?! I already had the fun sentiment from Inky Antics and I just think that they pair well together…don’t, you!?! In addition to those 2 companies, I also used the Paisley background from SU! and the Geometric Flowers II backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms.
greatminds.jpg
I used a real fun color “concoction” for this card…Cameo Coral, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi. The main image is stamped on watercolor paper and colored in with Copic markers. For my finishing touches, I paired a small punched flower with some Bella Baubles, and I topped off the photo corners with silver brads. I also used my small scallop scissors on the white cardstock to the left of the Pumpkin Pie cardstock to emulate the scallops on the main image panel. I have a feeling this stamp is going to be well loved!! I think that it would make darling bridal shower or girl’s night invites.
As I mentioned above, we went to Chuckee Cheese on Saturday. Ellie and her friend, Addison, had a BLAST! They were so darn cute together. They held hands almost the entire time…sometimes both hands at once. My cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing so much. Here are a few of the shots that we got of their extreme cuteness!!…
