TCU Tin and Some Random Thoughts…

Posted by Jen | projects | Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Well, Tony is officially on his way to earning his MBA. Classes started Monday and so far, so good. Tony applied to grad school late in the game and the lady in the admissions office really helped guide him through the admissions and scholarship processes. I know that Tony really appreciates all that she did, so last night I asked him if he wanted be to make a little ‘thank you’ for her. He of course said, ‘yes,’ and off I went to my studio. This project idea is obviously taken from Nichole Heady’s blog. I just love these tins, and I have plenty of them to make little gifts. If you didn’t guess, TCU’s spirit color is purple. This paper is from American Crafts’ The Goods line and is named “Umbrella.” How cute is that!?!…LOL!

And now for some really random thoughts…
I recently tried Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste…AWESOME. It really is like you just came from the dentist. How’s that for randomness!?!?!
I do not watch reality tv. I have never seen a full episode of American Idol, I don’t like Survivor and no way will I ever flip to Big Brother. However, last year I got hooked on America’s Got Talent. Last night we DVR’d the this year’s finale. DVR is a great thing when David Hasslehoff performs. Gotta love that fast forward button!!

Aren’t I A Lucky Ducky?…

The Staff Reporter bios are up at Craft Critique. You’ll see my mugshot right on top.

Also, I’ll have an article running this week on Craft Critique about one of my favorite tools…the SU! Cutter Kit.

I’m a busy lil’ bee working away at stuff with deadlines. I’ll be posting more ATCs and RAKs later this week. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to post some new creations as well. Adios for now.

Another Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | cards, challenges | Saturday, August 18, 2007

Today I am hosting a baby shower. Of course I needed a baby card!! So, when I got up this morning, I knew what I wanted to do. This is actually pretty much the same card that I did a while back for a local swap, but I like the layout enough to do it again. I changed up a few things like the colors and the image is a different giraffe. The base of this card is on PaperTrey white cardstock. This is the perfect weight for card bases, especially since SU!’s Whisper White is a little flimsy to hold up as a base.

I also like the layout enough to make it the sketch for you to try. I don’t have too much time to yipyap, as my house is a wreck and there is a lot to do. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!! I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with! :)

Two More Verve Visual Projects…

Posted by Jen | cards, projects | Friday, August 17, 2007

I got my new Verve Visual Fancy Florals set a little later than the rest of the design team due to a little postal snafu. But, ever since I got them, I have been having lots of fun creating and brainstorming new ideas. While I absolutely love making cards, I also enjoy making altered items and notecards as well.
The first project shown here is an accordian album. You can see Beate’s tutorial on how to make these HERE. You’ll notice that mine is not full of pics. That’s because I am considering giving this as a gift. If I do that, I am going to make some more flowers like the one on the front for embellishments.

The second project is a notecard. This is the project that I was talking about the other day when I was hoping for some good afternoon natural light. Well, the picture does not do the notecard too much justice, but hopefully you get the idea.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a sketch challenge. Oh, and if anyone has any extra time, please send it my way. LOL!!
