Sniffles…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Stamp A Sweet Impression, cards | Sunday, May 3, 2009

I am sure that there are plenty of you that are feeling the full effect of spring. Sniffles and sneezes and cursing your allergies! I really don’t have bad allergies, just enough to drive me {and Tony} and little crazy. LOL! Anywhooooo… this is day one {of three} of sneak peeks of the May release from Taylored Expressions. Today I am showing you a peek of the set, Doctor’s Orders. I just had to use the tissue stamp as I sniffled through yet another spring day here in North Texas.

If Friends Were Purses…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Stamp A Sweet Impression, cards | Sunday, April 26, 2009

I’d pick you!

Seriously, how cute is that sentiment? I’ve heard the one “If friends were flowers…” and love, it, but this one just gave me a good chuckle! The stamps used to create this card are from the Downtown Diva set from Taylored Expressions. I was a little nervous to use the larger image in the set, but I think that it may turn out to be one of my faves from the set.

Can you tell that I blinged this card out like crazy…well, crazy for me, at least! I used bling/embellies on the cherry on top of the cuppies, the purses in their hands and the purses on the circle panel. What do you think of the layout? I kinda likeeee! Maybe a good Sketch For You To Try? Lemme know your thoughts on this one. :)

Key Ingredients Kit Creation…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Stamp A Sweet Impression, challenges, projects | Monday, April 20, 2009

Now say that 5 times fast!

Last month Taylored Expressions launched their Key Ingredients Subscription and it was a hit! This month is sure to please, too. I got my kit several weeks ago and attached to it was a note that said not to use it until today…ack!! While I am a good {make that great} hoarder, this was killin’ me! Finally, I got to crack it open for the Key Ingredients Subscription Challenge…

Focus: The focus is on the Key Ingredients collection. Feel free to showcase the papers and embellishments with stamps from other companies or with TE stamps.

Required Element: The glitter from the kit…make a shaker, glitter up some brads or chipboard, lots of possibilities for loose glitter!

Restricted Element: Your card cannot be a standard A2 size.

So this is what I came up with…

I knew right away that I wanted to make a scrappy creation, so I took out the cardstock and picked a few colors that went along with polka dot DP…imagine that, I chose to use the polka dot paper! The “t” was cut using my Slice machine. I then covered it in Martha Stewart adhesive and covered it with the glitter from the kit. I did the same with the Martha Stewart punched butterflies. I added the ribbon to the back so that it could be hung. That ribbon is the same as I put on either side of the main panel. I love this grosgrain! It’s not flimsy at all…like so many out there!

Friends Like You Are Priceless…

CALLING ALL LOCALS!
This Saturday is the Imprints “Garage Sale.” What is that? Well, 49 people have sign up and are selling their gently loved craft supplies {stamps, punches, paper…you name it!} at Imprints THIS SATURDAY! This is an event that you do not want to miss! HERE is the link to the site with all the store info. Hope to see you there!

Ok, I’m toning in down a little today {as opposed to my previous postings this week}. This card features some stamps from the set Downtown Diva from Taylored Expressions. This is actually the first card that I did using this set, but I have waited to show it it to you. Why? No answer for that one, really. I have just been holding onto it. I actually thought that this was going to be the sketch a couple Saturday’s ago, but then changed my mind. That’s me…spacey with little rhyme or reason {well, sometimes}.

As you can see, this card incorporates a lot of dots and circles…my fave! I am seriously addicted to this Doodlebug Designs polka dot paper. I bought a sheet in just about every color and it is slowly, but surely, getting used up. I love the sentiment and, although this card is not designed as a gift card holder, I think that it would be a great card to put one in. Maybe I will hold onto this card until I need a card and gift in a pinch.

It’s Wednesday and that means Wiggles ‘n Tunes class…a fun little music class that I go to with Ellie. I think we might hit the library, too, before we come home and I seal that turtle {see yesterday’s post}. We added a few more colors to it last night. It is smokin’ hot now!! ;) Hope you all have a great day.

First Saturday of the Month…

A little about herself:
Thank you to Jen for asking me to be her guest designer for April! I am so honored and cannot wait to work with all her wonderful sketches!
I am a SAHM to a 3 year old boy and have been married to my husband for almost 10 years. I work and teach classes at my LSS very part time, but being a former elementary teacher, I love to get to teach!
My husband got me started in stamping. Yes, its true. We were doing our wedding invitations and I wanted a certain look. He suggested trying this “stamping thing” his mom did. The rest is history and I remind him often! :) I got away from stamping for years, but then last January, I remembered how much I loved to stamp and the addiction started up again.
I am currently on the design teams at Stamper’s Dream, Friends of Flourishes, and ScrapLovers, and will be joining the Spellbinders Paper Arts team in May. I have had the privilege of my work being published in Paper Crafts, Cards, Scrapbook Trends, Simply Handmade, and Paper Trends.
Being a part of the online stamping world has been amazing! I have been fortunate to make many friends who share a passion for paper crafting!

Here’s my sample, which also doubles as a sneak peek for the Taylored Expressions stamps that will be released tomorrow. I LOVE this Sweet Shop image, and the sentiment is just perfect. Yep, whomever said that money can’t buy happiness apparently never shopped at a See’s or Godiva store!
