I have been beyond busy with “stuff” to do. It’s amazing how it piles up. I have not had a chance to stamp just for me, just ‘cuz I want to in a long while. This past week I spent a good chunk of time preparing for stamp camp. Each month I do a card, a 3d item and “something else.” That “something else” usually involves some sort of memory keeper, such as a scrapbook page. This month I did not want to do a scrapbook page, but knew that I had to do something that would involve cute Halloween pictures. I altered this coaster with SU! DP, punches and stamps. Then, I put a heavy duty magnet on the back. I thought of this as the last minute and thought it would be a fun “decoration” that could be kept on the fridge, or could be brought out each year with the other Halloween decor. By the way…I didn’t have any good pics of Ellie to put on here, so I just cut a pic from a magazine.

The 3d project that I did was a headstone/coffin filled with candy corn. I got this idea straight from the Better Homes and Gardens Halloween magazine. I am such a fanatic for any boxes or bags and I just love Halloween decor {not so much the holiday or dressing up}, so this really jumped out at me. I used the SU! Sanded bg stamp and sponging to help make it look like an old headstone/coffin. The “R.I.P.” was created using the Rough Edges alpha in Basic Gray. Believe or not, a couple of the ladies wanted to put their husband’s names on these, too. It must be football season!!

For the card project, I wanted to do something a little different. I went back and forth between an interactive card or the criss cross card. I finally settled on doing an interactive card. The top of the Pumpkin Pie layer is punched with the word window punch twice to make a large opening to put the sliding sentiment into. I love the idea of “there are no mistakes in paper crafting, only opportunities to embellish.” Well, that was certainly the case here. I forgot to put my brads on before I glued it all down. So, trying to be clever, I lifted up the Old Olive layer. Of course it got a little crinkly {technical term!}, so then I just crinkled it some to make it have texture and then added my brads and glued it back down. I actually think it looks a lot better this way!!
My SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY is to make a sliding sentiment like the card I have shown today. I do not have a template, and there are no rules to doing this. The base of my card measures the standard 4.25 x 5.5″.
