See deets way below!

Greetings from North TX. I am actually writing this early, knowing that I will be on a plane this morning heading to a quick visit with my parents this weekend. I am looking forward to seeing them and basking in the Arizona sun. For those of you that don’t know, I spent many of my younger years in the Valley of the Sun…a.k.a. Phoenix. I went to 3 of the 4 years of high school out there and then went on to graduate from Arizona State University. After college I needed a change and decided to move to San Diego. At the time of the decision, I had no place to live and no job. EEK! Well, I didn’t end up on the street panhandling. I ended up answering an ad that stated that there was a room for rent in downtown San Diego with utilities included. Wanna know who my landlord was?…the one and only…Tony! We’ve now been married for 6 years! I ended up finding a job, too. I guess everything worked out.

EDIT: The trip is a NO GO! The stars have not aligned and we will not be going. I am BUMMED! Ellie is sniffly and sneezy, I am still not 100% so it just isn’t going to work out. Whhaaaa! (yep, I really did cry!)

Onto this week’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY

Here’s my take on the sketch using Prism Papers and a Papertrey stamp…
sfytt1010

I had heard that Prism papers work like a dream in electronic die cutting machines. It’s true! The blade cuts through them like buttah!! As you can see, I continue to be addicted to my Spook Alley design card for the Slice!

A couple of detail shots of the glittery punched pieces I added…

ABC Friday…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Guest Designer, projects | Friday, May 8, 2009

There is a new stamp company on the block!…My Cute Stamps {fun lil’ name!!} I am excited that I am the Guest Designer for MCS this month. Today I have a fun and easy notebook to show you. First, I started off with the Spunky Nature set and made my own pattern paper…good idea in this economy!! I then matted it and stitched around the edges and then adhered it to another piece of cardstock, which is essentially the cover to the notebook.

mcs_notepad

To jazz up the cover a little, I used the EK Success Scalloped Scallop border punch {I loveeee this punch!!}. The strip with my name and the buttons were kinda an afterthought when I wanted to make it a little more personal. The notebook is bound with my Bind-It-All, but if you do not have a BIA you can still make these…easy peasy. In the office section of Wal-Mart they sell binder rings and you can punch holes in your covers and papers and then bind it with the rings. Just another sweet and simple gift for teachers or anyone else.

Alright, I’m outta here for now. See you tomorrow for another Sketch For You To Try. I’ll be taking some days off next week as I hang out with some family that is coming in today from out of town.

Happy Saturday! We’re off to another birthday party and then, as I noted yesterday, I am going to RELAX! This weekend is supposed to be rainy and gross. Tony believes that there is a conspiracy to make it sunny all week long and then rain on the weekend when he is home. It sure seems like it this would be the case, but I have a strong inkling that Mother Nature is not working directly against him. In fact, I think she is doing him a favor…you can’t do yard work when it is raining!

Thank you to everyone that participated in the Sketch For You To Try last week {and EVERY week!}. I promised a little somethin’ somethin’ to one participant. Who could it be? None other than…

Wee Tees…

Posted by Jen | Gina K., Guest Designer, cards | Tuesday, April 21, 2009

On Thursday, Gina K. is releasing “Wee Tees” as part of the Melanie Muenchinger line. Melanie has been kind enough to ask me if I would like to do a Guest Designer spot for this set. I am such a sucker for baby stamps, so I’m pretty sure that this set was made just for me…LOL! When Ellie was a baby she had a lot of funny onsies, including my fave: “Dr. Pooper” with the Dr. Pepper logo. Tacky, yes, but it was funny for the 2 times that she got to wear it before she grew out of it. Well, there are no stamps like that in this set, but there are a lot cute ones, including the sentiment “My Mommy Rocks!” You can also make it say, “My Daddy Rocks.”

I thought that this one would be cute for announcements…
