Happy first Saturday of the month! Of course, that means that a new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY, along with another fabulous sponsor is here! I’m gonna get straight to the point; here’s the APRIL SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY

apr2012sketch

I think this month’s sketch is pretty simple and it leaves a lot of room for making it your own. In addition, it can easily be flipped to create a horizontal card.

With a new sketch, come a new FABULOUS sponsor! I want to give a BIG THANKS to THERE SHE GOES for sponsoring us this month!

For my April SFYTT card I used the TSG set BEE HAPPY

sfytt_apr12_tsg

I love the way the designer papers from the My Mind’s Eye~Be Amazing line paired with this set! Of course, I had add a little bling to these bees!…

sfytt_apr12_tsg_detail

As you can see, I just can’t put my new paper piercer down! I almost pierced around the circle, but decided to let the bling be the star of the show there and to have the piercing be a minor accent around the rectangular panel.

Each month, we also get to have a new Designer of the Month {chosen from previous month’s participants}. I am so pleased to announce that this month we have the talented Dawn Barghorn joining us!

A little about Dawn in her own words…

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband of 20 years and our two boys. I grew up in the craft world. My grandparents owned a craft store (long before AC Moore or Michaels) and I worked there until I left for college. My love affair with paper began when I was pregnant with my first child and has grown from scrapbooking to card making. The world of blogging really fostered that love. I began designing for Tuesday Morning Sketches in the fall of 2011.

Here’s Dawn’s beautiful {and funny!} card using the TSG set Domestic Goddess

Baby Boy Pinwheel…

Posted by Jen | CAS, Lil' Inker, cards | Wednesday, April 4, 2012

I am pretty sure that I mentioned before that clean and simple {CAS} design does not always come naturally to me. I like lots of layers and embellishments, that’s no secret! However, in the past several months when I work with Lil’ Inker product, I find myself drifting over to the clean and simple side of design. It’s becoming almost second nature now. It still doesn’t take me any less time to do a CAS card, but I have definitely found my comfort zone within this style.

As I created this Lil’ Inker card last night, I found myself going to the CAS style almost automatically. I admit, there are a few more layers than a “normal” CAS card, but I think this still fits the bill…

I love how the dark blue starburst {Spellbinders} sets of the Mini Lil’ Inker Pinwheel

babyboypinwheel_detail

The dots are brought together through the use of pattern paper, embossing {Cuttlebug folder} and paper piercing around the circle {shhh…I know they are kinda off center}. I used the Happy Baby Boy sentiment from the Pinwheel Sentiments stamp set.

I can definitely see this as a fun theme for a baby shower! Oh my, the wheels are spinning now!

TCP Tuesday #204 | Stamp Challenge…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Cranky toddler for sale…FREE! I’ll even throw in all the accessories at no charge! Haha…just kidding, but I am pretty sure that you moms can relate. Too bad drinking wine is frowned upon on 7:30 in the morning. Again, kidding…kinda…LOL! Let’s just say that if I get some stamping time today that it will be very therapeutic! I have a few things on my schedule today, including an interview {tell ya more about that later} and a dentist appointment {blech!}. Stamping time in between is a must!

I did get some stamping time in yesterday during nap time and made a card…that I threw in the trash. While frustrating, it did get my mojo going and then I came up with this card for this week’s TCP Tuesday challenge…

tcptues_stamp

Susan is your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess and she wants you to leap into spring with any of your TCP Easter/Spring stamps and CutUps dies. On my card, I used the SUGAR, SUGAR stamp set along with the CLOUD BORDER and FLOWER BUTTON CutUps dies.

The bunny is colored with Copic markers…E40, E41, E42 and LOTS of Blender, to be exact. I love giving this bunny a “dirty white” appearance.

Can you tell I got a new paper piercer? My other one had seen the glue bottle being unclogged a few too many times. I couldn’t believe the difference a new, clean one made! WOW!

Alright, are you ready to play along? Check out all the details and upload information on Alma’s blog. Happy stamping and good luck {details about the good luck part on her blog, too}.

The Craft's Meow

I’d like to give a BIG THANK YOU to The Craft’s Meow for sponsoring SFYTT this month! I used I’ve Got Your Number to create my card. I can’t even remember the last time I used so many colored dye inks on a card! It was fun! Gotta tuck that one away to bring out more often!

If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll play along! Just a few hours left to upload your card HERE on this post. Next Saturday bring a NEW Sketch For You to Try, along with a new fabulous sponsor!

Happy Stamping!

YNS Fun Friday | Fun With Dies…

Posted by Jen | CAS, Tutorials, Your Next Stamp, cards, projects | Friday, March 30, 2012

TGIF Friends! Is everyone ready for a good weekend? I am! Lots of Easter Egg Hunts going on this weekend! Are you going to one?

We are definitely in the mood for spring and Easter around here. I made some cute Easter projects that I will share next week and I think the flowers that I made on the card below might have to find their way onto a few more projects, too!

I used the WINGS from the Dress Up Fhiona Die Set from YOUR NEXT STAMP to create this flower on the card…

wingflowercard

To create this flower you will:

12-14 die cut wings {cardstock or felt work great!}
1 one inch cardstock circle
Adhesive {hot glue is what I used}
Your choice of flower center {Button and twine matted with a cardstock circle is what I used}

Directions:
1. Cut the die cut wings in half
2. Adhere 6-7 of the halves around the edge one side of the 1″ circle
3. Adhere 4-7 of the halves around the center of the other side of the circle
NOTE: Adhering part of the around the edge and part of them around the center creates more of a layered look.
4. Create and adhere your flower center
5. Attach to card. OR, put a pin-back on it and use it as a fun accessory!

I “fluffed up” my petal by curling/bending each of the petals until I got the look that I wanted. I always get asked, so I can’t forget to mention the embossing folder…it’s a Christmas set from Sizzix! My fave…at the moment!

Have fun with this creating your own flowers and have a great weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow with one more SFYTT post for March…don’t miss it!
