PLEASE Tell Me What You Think…

Posted by Jen | random ramblings | Wednesday, December 10, 2008

What do you think is a fair AVERAGE of blog posts per week?? For the longest time I was posting 6 times a week and I have to be honest, it was tedious. I would like to post 4-5 times a week on average. I will continue to do most TCP Tuedays and, of course, every ABC Friday and SFYTT Saturday. So that leaves 1-3 “other” posts throughout the week. Also, do you like multiple projects on one posts or would you rather I string them out? I like them all in one, but I’m just wondering what you think about all of this.

Happy First Saturday Of The Month…

Posted by Jen | cards, challenges | Saturday, December 6, 2008

The first Saturday of the month is so much fun for me because I get to introduce a new designer of the month and there is a whole new set of sketches to play with. In case you are wondering, I design all the sketches for a month about a week before the new month is about to begin and send them out to all the designers so that we all have time to play. Truth be told, I am always making mine at the last minute…like some others {ahem, Shannan}. ;)
Enough about me and the crew, let’s hear it for the new Designer of the Month…Lynn Put! You can check out her blog HERE.

Here’s a little about Lynn in her own words…
Hello my name is Lynn Put (aka justbehappy on Splitcoast Stampers),
I’ve been married for over 16 years to my best friend Dan, who is an excellent husband and father to our three children and supports my need to create. We have two sons and a daughter ages 14, 11 and 2 who keep me running and on my toes.
Before I started rubber stamping and card making I was a scrapbooker. I started scrapbooking after my
oldest son Zachary was born; I wanted to preserve his childhood memories. Since then I have
completed several books for him as well as our other two children.
Years ago I collected rubber stamps but never really knew what to do with them until I was introduced
to Stampin’ Up. After attending my first Stamp Camp I was hooked, I enjoyed creating handmade cards and gifts with Stampin’ Up stamps right from the start. I’m currently a Sr. Supervisor and have been a Stampin’ Up demonstrator for almost four years.
I’ve been a member of Splitcoast Stampers since 2005 and over a year ago started my blog The Queen’s Scene. I’ve enjoyed blogging and the friends I’ve made throughout this past year and feel that rubber stamping and blogging is a great way to connect with other women that share the same passion.
This last August I was excited to be asked to be Taylor VanBruggen’s (of Taylored Expressions) Featured Cupcake Sampler and also asked to become a member of the Great Swap Girls group and now feel very honored to be Jen’s Designer of the Month for December.
Thank you Jen for this incredible opportunity and I’m looking forward to a fun month!

Wanna play? Here’s what you should know…
1. ANYONE can play.
2. Have fun with this!
3. When uploading to SCS, use the keyword SFYTT.
4. Post a link to your blog or gallery on this post.

Check out the samples from a few of my stampin’ friends, Amy R., Amy S., Carole, Shannan and Susan!

ABC Friday~Oh, Christmas Tree…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Holidays, projects | Friday, December 5, 2008

I love the spirit of Christmas and all the inspiration I get from it. Over the Thanksgiving weekend I scribbled down tons of ideas in my notebook. This lil’ Christmas tree is one of them. It’s created from 4 triangles {explanation below}, along with some silver cording, crystals and gorgeous satin ribbon {from Taylored Expressions}.

One shot of the top view…

Another top view, showing how I the cording through the top and the glued on bow…

Detail shot of the 2 kinds of crystals I used. Can you see the itty bitty green ones?…

To create this you will need:
4 pieces of patterned paper {I used K & Co.} cut to 3″x4.25″
Ribbon
Silver Cording
Glue
Scallop Edge Punch {SU!}
Scoring Tool

Instructions:
1. Mark the center {1.5″} of one of the 3″ sides.
2. From that mark cut diagonally to each of the corners, creating a triangle.
3. Scallop edges of long sides.
4. On each of the scalloped sides, score just on the inside of the scalloped edge.
5. Glue together the scalloped edges to create the tree.
6. Before gluing the last 2 sides together, create a loop with the silver cording and place knot on the inside of the tree.
7. Attach ribbon to top of the tree. I hot glued mine on, but you can always tie it around the cording.
8. Embellish as desired :)

Some Bunny…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards | Wednesday, December 3, 2008

This bunny is giving me a toothache with how sweet he is! This is BY FAR my favorite Flopsey from My Favorite Things. That’s not to say that I have not liked the other ones, I just reeeally like this one! While I have resigned my official position on the MFT Design Team, I did tell ya that I would still be working closely with the product and since today is release day I wanted to give a little MFT plug. Kim {click to her site for the beginning of today’s blog hop} is doing something very cool for her design team this month…she gave them the whole month off and implemented a guest team. You can read more about that and the release party HERE in the MFT forum on SCS. Back to Flopsey now; here he {she?} is…

Detail shot…

I colored the Heidi Swapp Ghost Shapes snowflake with Copic marker and then topped it off with a button from Making Memories and a little button I picked up at Hobby Lobby. The paper is a holiday bargain find at Mike’s. It’s from K&Co. {of course!}.

Did you get your new Take Ten and Cards magazines, yet? Between the two, I have 7 cards in them. YAY! I am really trying to concentrate on pubs and this is the first big month for me, so I am pretty darn excited!! I saw A LOT of familiar names in both pubs, along with the new Paper Crafts mag. Congrats to all!
