Happy First Saturday of the Month…

Posted by Jen | MFT, SFYTT 2010, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, September 4, 2010

Hooray it’s Saturday! Not only is it Saturday, it’s the first Saturday of the month. Not only is it Saturday, it’s the first Saturday of football season and it’s opening day for OU! Boomer Sooner, Baby!

Ok, back to the whole “it’s the first Saturday of the month” business! As you know, I love the first Saturday of the month because I get to introduce the Designer of the Month. I am sure that you will recognize this girl! She is everywhere I turn lately, and her stuff is HOT! Please welcome…

A little about Tori in her own words…
I’m a “work-from-home” mom who left the rush of the corporate world a year ago to start an in-home daycare. I love being home every day for my kids and as an added bonus, it gives me so much more stamping time! I look forward to my afternoon “recess” each day during nap-time. My “Wild” kids are Parker - 7, Kaiden - 5, and Gabrielle - 3 and I can’t forget my amazing husband, Jeremy — we just celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary and are coming up on 20 years as a couple. He puts up with my chaos and supports me in everything! I love to stay busy and challenge my mind, so working with some of the most amazing stamp companies in the industry has been a huge honor and has led to so many amazing friendships! I’m excited to join the SFYTT Sisters for September… bring on the sketches!

Here’s this week’s sketch…

Here’s my take on the sketch {sans a panel…ooooops!}, using the brand spankin’ new MFT Pure Innocence stamp, Princess
sfytt090410card

Can I tell you something?…
I love this card! I have been a little down lately about my stamping time and how I feel like I have just been doing things to get them done. I feel that my creativity has been waning because of that. I have liked *most* of my my recent projects, but there haven’t been a whole lot that I feel are up to my creative potential. This card has come to my rescue {hopefully!}. I don’t know that it really took me that much longer than any of my past projects {that I stare at blankly trying to come up with something}, but all the details were just coming to me. There are a lot of details going on, too!…stitching, embossing, lots of dies and then some! The circular main image panel alone is sponged, embossed and paper pierced. It’s not that uncommon for me to do that to a cardstock panel, but rarely do I try to give pattern paper any extra “umph.”

Here are a couple detail shots of the little extras…

The princess is colored with Copics and accented with Diamond Stickles. The flower was made by backing a flower made with MFT’s Rolled Flower Die-Namic with a scallop circle and then adding a button that has linen thread tied in a bow 3 times.
sfytt090410detail1

The long panel on the bottom is embossed {SU! embossing folder…can’t remember the name} and matted with MFT’s Open Scallop Die-Namic adorned with Swarovski crystals {the blingy-est!}. I tied more of the linen thread around this panel and topped it off with a bow and button matching the one above…

Winner Announcement, a New Sketch and an MFT Sneak Peek…

Posted by Jen | MFT, SFYTT 2010, blog tarts, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, August 28, 2010

Happy Saturday folks! It’s another Copic teaching day {at Scrapper’s Boutique} for me and then I will be stamping my heart out the rest of the afternoon and evening. YAY! I have lots of new goodies to play with that I will be showing off in the next week or so.

I realized that the time wasn’t in line with what I said the cut-off was, so everyone that left a comment with a link {there were only a few} after the link system closed I included in the drawing for some fresh from the farm THE GREETING FARM stamps. Thank you again to TGF for their sponsorship!! The winner is…

#16 SWLDEBBIE with THIS fabby creation using last week’s sketch.
…email me {link under my pic to the left} and we will get you all set up with those new stamps!

Are you ready for a fun sketch that has so many possibilities? I hope you go crazeeee for this one…

I mentioned above that I have lots of new goodies to play with, and a good chunk of those goodies are from MY FAVORITE THINGS. There’s a new release coming up on Wednesday and there are some super duper cutie patootie sets coming out. You can check out more sneak peek samples on Kim’s/The MFT blog, where she has a list of all the peekers.

In this set there are 3 house images. I used 2 of the same side by side and then popped up a different one right in the middle of them. The “Boo Time” paper is also created from one of the sentiments in the set. I love making my own DP from sentiment sets, especially when I can’t find a good place to put one otherwise!

A little more MFT Info…
1. The release party is at the MFT Forum on SCS HERE from 8-10 EST on Wednesday, September 1st.
2. Leave a comment on each of the peekers each day for a chance to win some FREE stamps! Winners will be announced on Kim’s/The MFT blog daily. Good luck!
3. Don’t forget to check out the Guest Designer challenge, too!! You can find all the deets for that right HERE.

Ashley N. Newell, this month’s Designer of the Month, created this wonderful sample. THANK YOU to Ashley for being such a fun and fabby Designer of the Month!

More Verve Sneak Peeks…

Posted by Jen | Verve, cards, designer of the month | Wednesday, August 18, 2010

vs_sneak_kindandhello

Are you ready for some more Verve-a-licious-ness? Today myself, along with several of the Verve Divas and Guest Divas are peeking two new sets that are going to be released this Friday, A Happy Hello and Kind Words. Both of these sets have a lot of versatility and can be suited for any style. I can’t believe that I was able to sit down and not only create both of these back to back {thanks for the good nap, Nic!}, but to make them so different from each other. In the past, I have found that once I am in one frame of mind/creativity that is the direction that I will take for awhile.

Here’s the more elegant of the two, using the to-be-released on Friday set, Kind Words

This next one is a little more “cute-sy” and uses A Happy Hello

Here are some deets about this Verve release…

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, August 14, 2010

Greetings All! Thank you to everyone for the FB and emailed birthday wishes. I spent my special day in Austin at the lake with my family. Here is a pic of the sun rising over the lake…

austin_lake

So in all the hustle and bustle of taking a quickie trip to Austin, I got my days just a wee bit mixed up. I thought that MFT’s Greatest Hits: Clearly Sentimental was supposed to be today {you can see the links for everyone that did play along correctly HERE}. I didn’t design this sketch to be used with a smaller sentiment, so when I sat down to create this I had an “oh shoot” {or some form of that expression} moment. I still got it done, although it’s not quite like I want it. Then I got an email from Joanne yesterday saying, “Aren’t you playing with us?” Yep, I had another one of those “oh shoot” moments…followed by a smack to my forehead. It was a little too late to do anything other than just go with the original plan of having this as my MFT card. Oh well!

Now that I have just completely told on myself with all this business about this and that, why don’t I just show you the sketch and my card?? ;)

The sketch…

My card using the MFT set, Clearly Sentimental About You
sfytt081410_card

I wish I would have taken a picture of how I created the center panel, but I didn’t {there I go telling on myself again!}, so I will just have to tell you. I wanted a more substantial panel than the Framed Greetings Die-Namics, so I glued 2 of them together and put a strip of cardstock up the middle to hide the seam. Easy peasy and it created a great shaped panel!!
