Cold Nose, Warm Heart…
Happy TCP Tuesday! This week Leigh is your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess and she is challenging you to use this sketch {BTW-she has all the challenge deets, too}…
I took a few creative liberties with this one and ended up with this card, using Polar Holiday…

I had every intention of creating this as the sketch dictates, but that didn’t quite happen…as you can see. When I was picking what image to use, I came across this one and really wanted to use it on my card. Well, it’s a little big, so I had to reduce the circles on the side. I also added the sentiment label/panel instead of just stamping it on the patterned paper. As you can see, I chose to use non-traditional colors on this holiday card. I am really steering away from the ol’ red and green stand-bys and liking pulling out the would-be summer colors. I don’t know how long it will last, as I just picked up the new Eskimo Kisses 6×6 pad from Basic Grey {so super cuuute}.
So, did everyone have a good Halloween? Here is a pic of Ellie as Snow White next to her lovely painted pumpkins…

She gave up on trick-or-treating pretty quickly, but had a blast handing out candy. She has also worn that dress every spare moment since Saturday, which is fine with me. After all, she waited about 2 months to wear it with no fussing…incredible for a 3 year old if you ask me! I also have to share a conversation that we had last week…
Scene: Getting dressed on a very chilly day.
Me: Ellie, do you want to wear your new long sleeve dress {I had promised her a long sleeve dress that she could wear on colder days since she didn’t have any and she had just picked one out at the store the day before}.
Ellie: Yes, that would be great.
Me: Ok, but you need to wear these pants {leggings} with them because it is so chilly outside.
Ellie: But, I don’t want to wear pants with the dress.
Me: Ok, then you can wear this outfit {shows Ellie alternative choice}. Which one do you choose?
Ellie: This dress, with no pants.
Me: That is not one of your choices {repeats choices} {repeat this part of the conversation more times than anyone would care to count with 10 minutes until having to leave the house}
Ellie: But I won’t look like a princess if I wear pants with a dress.
Me: I think you always look like a princess no matter what you wear. If you want to wear this dress, you need to wear the pants so you stay warm enough. Or you can wear the other outfit. It’s your choice.
Ellie: Mommy, Cinderella doesn’t wear pants with her dresses.
Me: {with slight twinge of sarcasm and a smile on my face} Sweetie, Cinderella doesn’t live in Texas.
In my head: {And, how does she know?… the dress she wears is too long to tell. Plus, this is a girl who wears glass…***on her feet***…let’s try not to take too many cues from her!! OMG child, this should not be this complicated!!}
Let’s just say that she wore the other outfit that day! At least I know that I won’t be having a similar conversation with the next one {well, hopefully LOL!!!}

Our 3 year olds sound very similar. I always hear Jake try to convince me he needs/wants something really outrageous, and he will say, “is that a deal mommy?” Ummmm, no. Not a deal, but good try!
Great card- very wintery!
This is a darling card. I love your story too! I laughed at the glass slippers part. So true!
Great card, I love the colors of the papers. My little one was Snow White for Halloween too (3 yrs) and will get to meet her soon at Disney, she’s so excited.
Ellie is absolutely adorable! I love your roll play conversation - kids really so say the funniest things
I love your card too!
Hugs
Karen
Awwww, what a cute conversation with Ellie. LOL! Adorable card - love how you adapted the sketch!
That card is great, LOVE the cute images and that photo is adorable! What a cute costume.
LOVE your non-traditional card and your little Snow White is ADORABLE!!! Hope all is well
AHAHAHA!! Nope, you won’t have that conversation with the next one, but if the next one is anything like Dean, the conversation will be more like “No Mommy, I don’t want to wear pants…or a shirt…or shoes…or underwear. I don’t want to wear clothes…period…EVER”. Yep. It’s fun. No shame whatsoever. We’re at the grocery store the other day and he’s riding in the back of the cart (real safe I know…but sometimes you just have to pick your battles) and my back is to him for I swear all of 5 seconds and I turn around the kid has managed to get himself COMPLETELY naked (never mind that it takes us 20 minutes to remove a single pull-up when it’s bath time) and is standing in the cart looking down at his penis, pulling on it, yelling as loud as he could “Look Mommy! My penis is big!” I was MORTIFIED. Oh yes, the next one will only find OTHER ways to provide you with interesting conversations, just wait!!!
I seriously can’t believe I just wrote that on your blog.
Ellie looks ADORABLE by the way!!!
This card is awesome . . . but it is also awesome that you had the exact conversation that I had with my 3 year old about the very same thing!! Girls are sooo funny!! Thanks for verifying my right as a mom to not give into their every indulgence!! Mine went with the leggings and the dress!
Too cute! I love little princess stories. . .my princess is now 13 and went dressed as a soccer player for Halloween. . .apparently tiaras don’t go with cleats. . .(insert sad Mom of a teenager face here)!
Good answer about where Cinderella lives. No, she lives in warm California where they don’t even have to wear nylons!
We used to do the leggings and long tops when my daughter was little, but it was sort of in style then. Can’t say what’s in style now for little ones cause that was 10 years ago!
