Mother’s Day Card…

Posted by Jen | Taylored Expressions/Whimsical Wishes, cards | Friday, April 3, 2009

Today is the first day of the sneak previews for the Sunday release from Taylored Expressions. The card that I am showing you today uses stamps from the set, Fresh Flowers {part of the Whimsical Wishes line}. I used these stamps in combination with the new Mother’s Day Key Ingredients kit, along with my Slice machine {to make the frame}.

I “crazy stitched” around both of the rectangular panels. The patterned paper is part of the Blue Hill Collection from Crate Paper. On the smaller rectangular panel, I wrapped satin aqua ribbon, and tied into a bow. As noted above, the frame was cut out using the Slice machine. I mounted the frame with dimensionals, so that it would “pop.” The main image was stamped on Choice Buttercream with Brilliance Graphite Black and colored in with Copics.

ABC Thursday ~ Cupcake Vineyards…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Guest Designer, projects | Thursday, April 2, 2009

Yes, you read correctly ABC THURSDAY. I normally do an ABC {Anything But a Card} project each Friday, but I have one today and one on Sunday, so I am jumbling this week up a little. Hope you don’t mind ;)

First, I want to thank Katharina Frei of Whiff Of Joy for inviting me to be a Guest Designer. I have loved working with these stamps and hope to grow my collection in the future. Today I am bring you a tag that I did after seeing this bottle of wine from CUPCAKE VINEYARDS…how cute is that?!? {the name of the wine co.}

I used the Melinda with Muffin Basket stamp and colored it with Copics and highlighted her wings using my Sakura Stardust pen {spread with rubbing alcohol in an aqua painter}.

For my finishing touches, I used a EK Success punch along edge and then put in yellow Dew Drops/Bellas Baubles. The punch is one that I picked up at Michael’s and I am not sure of the name, but I refer to it as the “scalloped scallop.” I also used some Papertrey red/white polka dot ribbon tied together with SU! white tafetta ribbon.

See you tomorrow when I start showing you some fun sneak peeks at the new stuff coming out from Taylored Expressions.

Kids These Days!…

Last month Ellie got her own stamp set…Nite Nite Ellie. Now {well, when they are released tonight by My Favorite Things} there is a darling companion set…Cuddle Up Carter. This set is also a charitable set with proceeds benefiting Euro-Peds {pronounced Euro Peads…I don’t know how to put the line over the “e” for the long “e” sound}, which is a program that my good friend Carole’s son, Carter, has greatly benefited from {you can even see his pic at the top of the testomonials page!}. Here is a card that I made with the Cuddle Up Carter set…

After I got done with this card I realized that there was something terribly wrong…Carter has on an almost burnt orange set of jammies. I know Carole would never dare clothe her children in such a color. BOOMER SOONER, baby! ;)

Now onto a little story about my sweet, innocent little dear, Ellie. First, you probably will find this a lot more humorous if you have seen the movie, “The Little Mermaid.” HERE is a clip to the part that I am referring to. The specific lyrics from the song that pertain to this story read like this…
ARIEL: If I become human, I’ll never be with my father or sisters again.
URSULA: But you’ll have your man, heh heh. Life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it? Heh heh.
Oh, and there is one more thing.
We haven’t discussed the subject of payment.
ARIEL: But I don’t have-
URSULA: I’m not asking much, just a token really, a trifle!
What I want from you is - your voice.
ARIEL: But without my voice, how can I-
URSULA: You’ll have your looks, your pretty face.
And don’t underestimate the importance of body language, ha!

So…last night am I getting Ellie ready for bed after her bath. I am putting lotion on when she turns her bare bootie around to me and says, “Don’t forget my body language,” and proceeds to shake the aforementioned bare bootie in my face. LOL! I almost cried I was laughing so hard! So funny and so entirely inappropriate for a 2 year old on so many levels {probably why it was so funny!}. No April foolin’!
