More blog tarts on this weeks Sketch For You To Try post HERE.

Well, by the attendance at the Verve Stamps release party the other night I can say with certainty that there are a ton of Verve Stamps fans out there {not that I didn’t already know!}. I have been on the Verve DT from the beginning and it has been incredible to watch the company and designs grow. Each month I am amazed at what I find myself making with these stamps.
Sidebar on the promotional speak: Yes, as part of the DT {as with any DT} part of it is about promotion, but you will never ever ever ever find me promoting any company that I don’t believe in. I am not told what to say, these are my real opinions {as humble as they may be}. I think I have said before that I am not about pushing products here. I work with products that I love and I am VERY fortunate to be able to design for the companies that I do.
Ok, back to the post.
Today I have 3 Verve creations for you. Why not just one and save the others for later? Well, I actually have more up my sleeve with this release, so I figured I would go ahead and show ‘em all today. The first one is from the Meditations set. I found this AWESOME flocked paper and thought it was a perfect match to the elegance of the sentiment. The swirlies are cut with my Slice {nope, I haven’t put it away yet! LOL}.

The second card is for the current Viva la Verve Challenge. All deets about the challenge can be found HERE. The hearts were colored with Copic markers and the “twist of bling” is under the sentiment in the form of 5 Swarovski crystals and on top of the heart button is an emBELLAshment from Stamping Bella.

Last but not least is a card I did using this month’s Plain Jane release. I used Julee’s Mojo Monday {69} sketch paired with Stampin’ Up! DP.

See you tomorrow when I officially don the Hipster Hostess with the Mostess hat!

More blog tarts on this weeks Sketch For You To Try post HERE.

I’m trying out the Featured Stamper Challenge again this week. Hopefully I got it right this time! LOL! Last week I accidentally used a card that was part of a different sketch challenge. That’s what happens when I RARELY stamp on Sunday! I think Bethie and all the other SCS’ers gave me a pass. This week I was a little more cautious about which card I chose. This week’s featured stamper is jaydekay. HERE is the card that I chose to work with from her gallery. And, here is my card…

fs101_jdk_sailmail

As, the title of this post suggest, I played with bugs to complete this card. HUGGABUGS that is! OMG, as if everything else at Stamping Bella wasn’t awesome enough, she comes out with these little bits of cuteness {there’s even a stamping and a crafting one!!}. That’s part of what I changed up for the challenge. Everything I changed…
1. Stamp and sentiment
2. Used Swiss Dots embossing folder instead of polka dot stamp background
3. Instead of embossing the heart, I stamped it with Geometric Flowers II backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms
4. I used a mat for both the white panel and behind the ribbon

Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. See ya tomorrow!

ABC Friday…

Posted by Jen | Uncategorized | Friday, January 9, 2009

If you are interested in the GIGANTIC blog tart giveaway, click HERE for all the info. {this line will remain at the top of my posts until the last day to enter, Jan. 31st}

Thank you all for your kind words about the new look. Sara has been keeping an eye on the comments and she is doing some little tweaks here and there as we polish up my site. You may see a few minor changes already, and there are a few more to come. Thanks for your patience and for bearing with us as I get used to this, too. Also, thank you for your suggestions.

Well, it’s Friday which means I get to show off an ABC project. Being that tonight is the Verve Stamps release party {in the SCS Verve Forum at 8 EST}, I thought that it would be fitting to show something from the upcoming release. This project uses mainly the Hundred Hearts set, but I also threw in a stamp {Happy Valentine’s Day} from Hearts on Fire. This book was so fun to make and I think that adding more personalized pages with pictures, memories, coupons, etc., would be super fun to do for a Valentine’s gift.

I suppose a good place to start would be with the cover. I used some SU! patterned paper along with a felt flower (Creative Cafe} and clear embossed the pink heart to give the cover some added dimension. The entire book is put together with a binder ring that I attached several pieces of ribbon to. Do you love the flourish or bracketed {not even sure if that’s a good word to describe it} ends? I found THIS Martha Stewart punch at Impress Rubber Stamps. Yes, it’s a must have!

Here are the following pages. As you can see, I tried to keep the same look going throughout the book. Clean lines, simple features. Who woulda thunk I would go for that? ;)

New Year, New Look And LOTS Of Blog Tart Goodness For You!…

Posted by Jen | blog tarts, random ramblings | Thursday, January 8, 2009

About a month ago I warned, ahem TOLD, you that my new look was coming…and that it was coming with an abundance of blog tarts. Well, that day has arrived thanks to Sara and her Tweaks and Designs. I gotta say I love it and I can’t wait to hear what you think. BTW, the best way to view this site now is NOT in Internet Explorer. It’s not that there is anything technically different in IE, it just looks better on Mozilla, etc. {I’m no tech guru, so I don’t have any other explanation other than, “Sara said so.”}.
It’s totally different and fresh. I love that my logo is on the side and not a banner on the top. If you recently missed a post, there are six boxes below the current post showing the last 6 posts. Then, there is a link to older posts below that. All my blinkies, badges, stats and stuff are at the bottom since I thought that it was getting a little cluttered on the side. Since my posts are usually not as long as today’s post, they won’t be hidden. On the sidebar there aren’t long list anymore. Drop down menus are there to help keep it clean, but also right at your fingertips, should you want to navigate over that way. So tell me what you think! Love it, like me? Hate it? Suggestions?

A few months ago Cammie did a major blog candy give away that supported her Grandmother’s Nursing Home. I really like the idea of having something philanthropic to go along with the giveaway, so THANK YOU for that idea Cammie! My giveaway isn’t nearly as large, but still quite AWESOME.

So here’s the deal…
Fellow North Texan and Splitcoaster Julie Carlisle {afancycat on SCS} works in the International Student Services Department at Dallas Baptist University {DBU}. They have students from over 50 countries at the University that they give cards to. I have donated several cards to her in the past and she was one of the first people that came to mind when I decided I wanted to do this blog tart giveaway, as she is always so sweet and grateful. Send your card to her at the address:

Dallas Baptist University
Attn: Julie Carlisle
3000 Mountain Creek Pkwy
Dallas, TX 75211

Because of the size of this blog candy, there are strict rules. Please read {and follow!} these carefully {yes, I know that they sound much like Cammie’s; I checked with her and she is ok with that!}…

1. There is ONE winner and there ONE entry per person. You can send as many cards as you like, but you are entered ONCE. ***EDITED TO ADD: Birthday and All Occasion cards are best, but ANY kind will be appreciated. Also, please send BLANK cards.***
2. Did you see rule #1? Just making sure that this is CRYSTAL CLEAR.
3. Please show your support for the companies that donated to this fab giveaway! I have linked all of them below.
4. Because this is benefiting DBU and lots of goodies are up for grabs, I ask that you post a little blurb about this to promote people sending cards. I’d love Julie to tell me that her mailbox is flooded with cards for the international students!
5. To OFFICIALLY enter, you will post a comment on THIS <--that's a link to a DIFFERENT post-- post. If you don't enter there, you are not entered. There is ONE entry per person. ***Note: I have comment moderation turned on to keep gross spam from popping up. If you do not see your entry right away, do not fret, it’s just awaiting moderation. Duplicate entries will be DELETED.***

Your entry should look like this:

Name: {your name here!}
My card I sent to DBU: {place a link to your card on your blog or SCS here!}
Date I sent my card: {enter the date your card went postal here}
Name of a company that donated to this giveaway: {name a company that donated to this here!}
My blog: {link to your blog, if applicable}

6. All entries {remember, ONE per person} must be entered on THIS post by January 31st at 11:59pm CST. The winner of all the goodies {see them below} will be announced on February 1, 2009. It will be the winner’s responsibility to contact me within 48 hours or a new winner will be chosen. ***ETA…winner will be announced on February 2nd***
