Roooooooaaaar, It’s Celebrate MFT Day & Other Stuff…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards, challenges | Monday, October 20, 2008

The 20th of each month is Celebrate MFT Day. What is that? Well, it’s just a day to have an excuse to play with your MFT stamps-MFT Style…in pink, black and white. I wanted to do something a little offbeat since I knew that I wanted to use my black and white Heidi Swapp paper with the pink and white American Crafts paper…AGAIN. With that in mind, I reached for my Dino-Mite set and made a girly card. Being the dinosaur lover that she is, Ellie, LOVES this card! For a finishing touch I wrapped Sweet Blush satin ribbon from Papertrey Ink around the largest panel and adhered a bow using hot glue.

Now onto the other stuff…

If you are in the DFW area and are interested in taking a Copic Class, call Imprints {in South Fort Worth} for details on the classes {beginning and advanced} that I am teaching this Saturday. Their number is 817-294-4600. Hope to see you there!

I am almost a week into my goal of losing 25 pounds. I will be blogging a little here and there about successes {hopefully} and struggles. Don’t worry, this isn’t going to turn into my diet diary. So far, I have added exercises into my {almost} daily schedule. This has consisted of going to the gym and doing cardio and weights, and walking around the neighborhood. I would like to build up my stamina so that I can run a few miles each day. Right now that’s just not going to happen. I have also changed my diet. NO MORE FAST FOOD! It was becoming too much of a habit to run out and get something quick. I am incorporating more protien, more fruits and veggies and less fat and sugar. I have a sweet tooth, though. I have failed at other diets by ignoring it, so I making sure that everything is in moderation. That’s it. No fads, no programs. I know that the key is eating right and exercising and that’s what I am doing. I hope to reach and maintain my goal by the spring. Feel free to keep me in line or share your stories, too!

Your card is so cute! LOVE the polka dots and the ribbon is so pretty!

I was happy to read that I’m not the only one that makes quick trips for fast food!! Here’s to you on your new lifestyle change!!

Cute card! I love the black, white, pink combo!

Good luck with the new lifestyle changes you’ve implemented! I, too, have had a few extra pounds creep up on me since becoming a SAHM 5 years ago and while I eat fairly decent, I’m trying to limit the extra trips to the kitchen (especially when I’m on the phone) and eating after 7:00 (DH & I tend to sit on the couch and snack after the kids are in bed). Please keep us posted!!

    Hi Jen!

I just want to wish you luck with your weight loss journey. I too, have changed my eating habits and cut way back on sweets. I have lost 14 pounds (started diet 8 wks ago) so far and my goal was to lose 17 pounds first. I hate exercise but do it everyday….finally the dust falls off my Treadmill! Keep it up!

I love pink polka dotted dinosaurs! Anyways, good luck on your life style change! I’ve stopped going to the gym and need to get back there. I need to stop being so lazy!! :)

This is a great schedule to get you to running 3 miles. You basically walk/run in intervals and the running part becomes longer as the weeks go by. Try this!

Cute card! I’m not a pink fan but it looks soooooo good with black. Great job.

Good luck with your weight loss. I found the key is to make exercise part of your day, just like brushing your teeth.

Hi Jen! I just wanted to wish you “good luck” on your diet adventure. I’ve lost 14 lbs by just watching what I eat and being more active. Keep your head up, you can do it!

I received the PaperCrafts magazine on Friday and the stamp sets today. Thank you so much!

Kudos to you for hitting the gym! I’ve always read that it takes 90 days to form a habit (that’s why most diet plans are 12 weeks long) So, I always tell myself I only have to do it for 3 months. Then at the end of the 3 months I say…ok, I can do 3 more months. Makes it easier for me mentally than to think I have to change the rest of my life! I know what you mean about the sweet tooth…I’ve got one too!! I always give myself one day a week to eat whatever I want without guilt. That keeps me “clean” the rest of the week. Some people call it “cheat day”…. I call it “reward day”!! Best of luck to you!!
    hugs, jami

I sooo love your dino! She is so cute :)
Congrats on almost losing 25lbs - that’s a huge accomplishment!!! The one thing that I’ve learned that has helped me A LOT is to cut my portions in half and eat ONLY what is on my plate - no more!
Keep it up! and good luck :)
    xo, margie

What’s involved in taking a copics class? Do you have a favorite marker set or brand?

i’ve become increasingly aware of my addiction to sugar too, and i support you 100% in your desire to lose weight and get fit. i did that 10 years ago (lost 35 of leftover baby weight) when i was 32, and i’ve NEVER regretted it! it’s never going to get easier, and walking does just as much good as running, provided you hoof it! have fun with it! keep us posted.

I’m normally not a dino fan, but this pink guy is adorable!

Best of luck on the weight loss. I’m currently doing Nutrisystems and have lost 18 pounds so far (of 55 total needed to lose). But you are so right that it all boils down to excercise and eating right! You go girl!

    Miss Dino is adorable!

Best wishes on the health improvements. It’s hard at first, but gets easier. The more you ‘move’, the less ‘junk’ you want to eat. You don’t want to negate all your sweat! lol
