Knock Your Socks Off Happy and a Wee Bit Sad…
Jul 3rd, 2008 by Jen
Have I ever told you that I absolutely adore the chichiboulie line at Stamping Bella {as well all the other stuff that she enables me with!!}? LOL! Yesterday I sat down to make a card using one of the new Verve Stamps sentiments and thought that this chichi {Ruby Ribbonlace} looked so happy. I think that you could use her for a “cause” card, but she also reminds me of a free spirited girl just jumping around and that is how I am using her here. So, I had the sentiment, image and layout…it’s Mojo Monday 44 from Julee’s blog, but no idea about the colors. I find myself reaching for DP more and more often, which in the past was just not me. I also find myself going for bright cheery colors. Obviously the Texas sun is getting to me. LOL! I got out a K & Co. paper pack that I picked up from my LSS not too long ago and found this fun print. I thought that it would look perfect with her dress. So off I went to color and put everything together. Here’s what I came up with, a knock your socks off happy card…
So, why does the title of this post also say “a wee bit sad?” Well a couple month’s ago I got an email letting me know that PaperCrafts had accepted a card of mine {now, that’s knock your socks off happy!!}, but then I got the issue yesterday and the card just didn’t photograph well and you can hardly see any of the details, hence a wee bit sad. I really am not all that upset about it, nor I am not faulting PC for anything. In fact, when I saw it {page 65, I am on 23, too-double YAY!} I said, “Ohhhh no, you can’t see anything on it,” then turned the page. I knew that I could post a pic of it here. So, here is what it REALLY looks like…
Much better, huh!?!?! I really do love this card, so sorry if it seems like I am tooting away at my own horn.
Speaking of pub stuff, I am taking tomorrow off to work on stuff for publication and to celebrate our country’s independence with an afternoon bbq. I hope that you all have fun and stay safe this weekend!! I will have a SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY on Saturday. See you then…along with a new friend and Guest Designer!!!

Your chichiboulie card is absolutely a-dorable! Nice mix of dp and colors! Sooo very sweet!! The card that PC picked up of yours is gorgeous…simply stunning!
As much as I love the first card the second one is the one that know my socks of. I’ve never been very good at monotone cards. This is gorgeous!
Hi Jen!
Saw your card in PC and loved it, but I’m really loving it in your photo…just beautiful!
Love the fun and bright colors of your first card today as well as the layout!
happy 4th!
Amy
Girl, you deserve to toot your own horn! This is absolutely gorgeous!! I also love your Bella card. I am falling more and more in love with that line. Have a Happy 4th!!!
The Beloved card is stunning! Glad you posted it here.
Jen,
I’ve admired your work for quite a while and just started my subscription to Paper Crafts. I got my issue yesterday and my first thought was as I flipped through, “Wow the pictures and the print are terrible!” Much of the text for titles, names etc. appears blurry and many of the photos are horribly blurred as well. I’m guessing this is the fault of the printing company that actually prints the magazine, not necessarily PC. However, they need to address the issue of quality with their printers because the whole point of the magazine is to be able to see the details on the cards. I’m so glad you posted your own photo here for us to see. You are very, very talented and I love your work!
I’m so glad you posted another picture of your card! I saw it in the magazine and knew it had to be beautiful. It is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I knew someone that was getting married.
Happy 4th of July!

I saw your cards in Paper Crafts Magazine yesterday and thought they were wonderful…however, seeing YOUR picture of the same card…it is even MORE beautiful! Great job! It isn’t just Paper Crafts either…I have a card in Take Ten that is completely washed out. Weird…
Jen… Love your cards! I got my PC yesterday too and dived right in with all the “eye candy”. I agree to the printing in the past year or so with the magazine has been poor. I looked at back -issues from 2 years ago and they are better quality. Magazines will cut corners and choose cheaper paper quality, inks, etc. (I worked for a few printing companies in the past.)
Super cute cards and awesome talent… Michelle
it is okay to toot your horn when you are creating amazing cards. love love the beloved card. way to go!!
hey… i know it’s hard to let go of your projects.. i get a little sweaty every time i put something in the mail, but you just have to think that your idea is out there, it’s a beautiful card, and readers will learn from you.. SO.. just be thankful that it wasn’t on one of those pages that prints weird..(like you’re seeing double or something. i feel bad for the people whose cards are on those pages.. )
have a great weekend!!

So glad you took a pic of it and posted it here cause it is a true beauty and we get a close up view of it! Love the chichiboulie card as well!
Hope you and your have a wonderful fun and safe 4th!
That beloved card really really is beautiful. It’s perfect in every way. It’s no wonder that one got published.
Don’t feel bad about the PC thing. They accepted one of my cards once (the only card I’ve ever submitted, actually). I didn’t have the card in my possession, so I had to order new stuff to re-create it and then actually drove the card all the way to the headquarters, so it would be there in time (I live about 45 min away). But I was excited to have it published, so I didn’t care. They paid me for my submission, and I anxiously awaited my magazine. But when it finally arrived, my card was nowhere to be found. It turned out they had decided to just use it on the website. I was MAJORLY bummed!
well if ever a card desereved to be tooted about, this one would be it! It’s just gorgeous! So much work went into that one!

Wow…. she’s a beauty!
… sounds like I’ll be getting my issue soon but I’m lovin’ the sneak peek of the monochromatic one that made the mag! They’re both t’riffic cards, as usual! Hope you had a t’riffic 4th!
