Your Friendship…

Posted by Jen | cards | Thursday, March 13, 2008

Isn’t this just the sweetest sentiment? I would never consider myself a mushy gushy person, but stuff like this I just love. It is from the SU! Sale-A-Bration set, Friendship Blooms. The main image is the stem and flowers from SU!’s Stemming From. I totally think that this set is under-loved in the SU! community. Yes, it has its limitations, but it’s so stinkin’ cute for a flower set! As you can see, I used my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder again. The Regal Rose panel is stamped with a small background from Hero Arts. The embellishments that I chose for this card are the white matte flat backs from Bella and a clear acrylic flower that I popped right on top of the SU! flower. I feel like I am whipping through this post…probably because I am trying to. The yard doesn’t look all that much different from yesterday, but that’s all about to change. I only have a few moments of computer time this morning before it’s time to get dirty…literally. We {meaning Tony} are tilling up the dirt and shoveling {meaning me and Tony} it away. I told Tony that I can’t get any blisters on my stampin’ hand…LOL!! Anywhooo…I’m outta here. See ya tomorrow when I announce the random winner from the participants in the SFYTT from last Saturday. I will also have a little “Anything But A Card” something or other, too. Have a great day!

You Are Sweet…

I’m blogging a little late this morning. We are starting to put in a patio extension and this is the first moment I have had to take a pic of my card and post it. Here is the “Before” picture of the patio area. Hopefully, by the end of the weekend I will be posting a completed brick extension for everyone to oooh and ahhh at ;).

I did get a chance to do a little stamping yesterday while Ellie was at MDO. This card is stamped with some of Kim Hughes’ stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms. I really like the sets that she has done for them. I don’t have a whole lot of time to write, so I will get straight to the pic of the card. Have a great day!

PS…don’t forget that those that participate in the Sketch For You Try from this past Saturday will be entered to win a goodie bag from me. Winner announced Friday morning. :)

Just One Wish…

Last night Susan came over for some stampin’ time. We both got a couple of projects done…YAY! This is one that I did. It is a baby door {or wall} hanger. I started with a piece of thick acetate; in this case, one of my old PTI boxes. I ran it through the Cuttlebug with my Nestabilities. Note, that you have to run it through a couple of times to get a clean thorough cut. I inked {sponged} the edges of the acetate with white Staz-on.I then put a piece of white cardstock on the back, attached with dimensionals. The top layer was stamped with a The Cat’s Pajama’s image and sentiment, then stitched around the edges and adhered to the acetate with Crystal Effects. I layered several Prima and paper flowers and topped them off with a pearl brad. This covered up my backstitching. To make it into a hanger, I grabbed my Crop-o-dile and punched a couple of holes in the top and added an appropriate length of ribbon and a couple of white brads. Viola…a baby door hanger.

BTW-The ribbon really does match a bit better in real life. It’s not so peachy.

A Journal Of Thoughts…

Posted by Jen | Bella, projects | Monday, March 10, 2008

I have to begin this by saying that I am quite possibly the only person {well, along with Tony} that did not know that it was time to “spring forward.” When I looked at my phone yesterday it gave me a message that the time had been changed in correspondence with daylight savings time. Most people lose their hour during the depths of the night. I lost mine over breakfast. The term breakfast could be used loosely here, too. When I lost that hour, I pretty much had eggs, sausage and toast for lunch. I apparently had slept through breakfast. Anywhooooooo…
I am constantly writing down ideas, drawing sketches and putting anything creative on paper. I have already gone through a couple of journals that I had “so neatly” {HA!} organized. This is just another one of those idea books that I will carry around that will eventually fill up with a little of this and a little of that. The image stamp is from Stamping Bella. While I ADORE all the Bellas, she is coming out with a lot of other fun stuff. If you are a ribbon and embellishment junkie, I will warn you that there is no such thing as will power when you hit her site. My stuff should be here at the end of the week. LOL!!

The DP is from American Crafts {imagine that!!…LOL!}. I used my Nestabilities to cut out the scallop rectangle, and my corner rounder punch to create the scallop edges on the binding. The coloring was done using Copics. For once I actually wished that I had the airbrush system to create a sky. However, I have the CIAOs, so that wouldn’t work anyway.

**Don’t forget, those that do the Sketch For You To Try from this week will be entered to win a little goodie bag from me. Ribbon, embellishments, chipboard…oh my!!** Happy stamping and good luck!
