Blogger’s Challenge #3…

Posted by Jen | cards, challenges | Saturday, April 7, 2007

As you can see from this week’s postings {oh my goodness, I posted EVERYDAY…woohoo}, I am stepping out of my sweet little Stampin’ Up comfort zone, and trying out some new stamps. I’m on the bandwagon, which I am sure is set out for a loooong ride, with all of the new PaperTreyInk fans. My foot is a tappin’ for the 15th to see what else Nichole has in store for us!! This card is using stamps exclusively from the Green Thumb set and I am sending it as a RAK {bonus points for me…yippeee…LOL}. Aren’t these flowers yummy?…and the boot and strawberries and…{you get my point}. So with that, I leave you with this challenge:

Speaking of good mail days, I also got some My Favorite Things stamps in the mail this week…wooohooo!!! Did you know Kim has come out with TWO baby sets now!?! Well, one’s more of a pregnancy one, but the other is all baby. Talk about speaking right to my heart! I actually used both of the sets to make this very simple and gender neutral card. The rattles and sentiment are from the pregnancy set, which is actually called She’s Having a Baby. The postage type stamp and buggy are from the baby set, which is actually called Baby First.
I have noticed that quite a few others are stamping with these uber cute stamps, too! Here are a few links for your viewing enjoyment: annieht SweetMissDaisy cwilliams judithnp

i{heart}green thumb…

Posted by Jen | cards | Thursday, April 5, 2007

Oh me! Oh my! Yesterday was another good mail day. I got my PaperTreyInk Green Thumb set. I am instantly in love! I haven’t had a chance to use all the stamps in the set yet, but sure broke in the big starbursty flower {technical name, of course!}. The top card is for Tony’s grandpa who underwent triple bypass open heart surgery yesterday afternoon. I know it’s a little girly to be sent to a man, but when all is said and done, it’s a good Feel Better card {in my opinion at least…LOL}. On both cards I stamped the flower image in the ink pad and then took a marker to highlight random areas on the flower. The “bling” is Creative Candy Twinkle Stickers from A Muse {find them HERE, p.s.~there are Karen Foster Snap Stamps there, too}. I’m keeping this short and sweet. I’m off to read a book to Ellie…

Good Mail Days…

Posted by Jen | cards | Wednesday, April 4, 2007

Don’t you just love it when the doorbell rings and instead of someone going door to door soliciting something {see my warning later in this post}, your mailman {or woman, as in my case} has dropped off a package for you?! That’s what I call a good mail day, and Monday was one of those! I got a lot of rubbah in the mail, not to mention some paper and some embellishments to make my heart flutter! I oooohed and aaaaaawed at the stamps and stuff, but then it was time to get down to business…the business of breaking it all in!
In one of my packages, there were some awesome A Muse stamps. If you are not completely familiar with them, check out their site, as well as stuff JulieHRR, Scoopy and Seewah have made. I stamped this little guy thinking that it looked like he was in a big trendy purse, and immediately thought of shopping, hence the sentiment done in Karen Foster Snap Stamps {remember me telling you that you NEED those!?!}. Then after the card was done, I thought, “Is he in a luggage type bag and the sentiment is just silly.” Whatever…this is my card and I like it~LOL!

A little while ago on another Good Mail Day, I got the {awesome} Weave backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms. It is an unmounted background stamp. At first I was a little intimidated because I thought I was going to have to buy a mondo clear acrylic block. Nope!! Jeanne S let me know that they cling to the sticker on your SU! background stamps. Too Cool!! If that wasn’t cool enough, how about only $7.99 for each of these puppies AND they offer FREE SHIPPING on orders over $25. I know you feel a shopping spree coming on!! Lisa Strahl is a big fan of them, and I can see why. My wish list is growing!
I made this card for the color challenge yesterday. I remember when this color challenge was originally posted, because I think that it was one of the first ones I did! The background is done with the Weave background from CHF and the other stamps are from the Paper Tray set from PaperTreyInk. It is driving me CRAZY that the sentiment is a smidge crooked!

****SCAM ALERT****
That was the title of an e-mail I got from our HOA yesterday. On Saturday, a woman came knocking door to door saying that her grandson was in our town’s Little League and they were trying to raise money for the league. She was selling an Easter Basket for $15 and all money was to go towards Little League. Well, it turns out that our town has no Little League, and Little League does not have door to door fundraisers. This woman even had a badge on that said Little League on it. Several people either wrote her a check or gave her cash. For you North Texans…she is operating under the name Maggie Smith and a police report has been filed against her. For everyone else, be aware of this!!

Spring Has Sprung…

Posted by Jen | cards | Tuesday, April 3, 2007

Don’t you just love spring? The flowers, the warm air, everything turning green, the allergies…ok, maybe not the allergies. AND…Easter is just around the corner. As luck would have it, we have our very own personal Easter Bunny! Isn’t she a cute bunny!?!
easterbunnyellie.JPG

I got about 20 prints of this picture to send out to friends and family. Of course, I couldn’t just send it all by its lonesome. I created and sent some Easter cards…and didn’t take any pics of them…oops!! However, I did want some cards just to be “springy.” I am so in love with everything that Nichole is coming out with over at PaperTreyInk. This time I didn’t forget to take the picture! Here are my “springy” Happy Hello notecards. I can see myself making a ton of these! They are so easy and convenient for those “just a note” type correspondence.
