(non)Hostile Takeover…

My dear stamping crazies…

As I vented about once before, there is impending doom in my future. This Friday is D-Day, the day of my PE exam. I’m off from work this week to finish “studying”. Really, I’ve been done studying for some time, I’ve just been preparing for the big day by doing practice problems by the boatload.

On another note, it has been a long time since Jen’s folks have been able to visit our little one. With that in mind, and a little peace and quiet probably going a long way in my preparations for Friday… Jen and baby have packed up for Phoenix. They landed a short time ago and will be staying with Grandma & Grandpa until Saturday.

In the meantime, I will do my best to hold down the “iheart2stamp” fort. I’ll post an occasional rant, a couple of funny anecdotes, and if the mood strikes me, I might even raid Jen’s stamp room and see what happens. You won’t want to miss that.

So keep checking in, Jen may even be able to make an appearance from Phoenix. But it will likely be a quick hello since her parents are the only people on Earth who still use AOL.

OOOOPS!… {the challenge}

Call it a good ol’ case of the crazies…I forgot to post the challenge this morning! {smacks palm to forehead}
Not only that, after I finished this card, I went to get my camera and when I came back I could not find the card. Of course it could have bit me in the {where the sun don’t shine}. I looked for it for about 10 minutes…LOL! I know Tony is reading this just shaking his head and saying, “That’s Jen for ya.” {in the most loving way, obviously}
Well, let me cut the yipyap and get onto the point of this post…

Use any acrylic stamp set with patterned paper. Easy enough, right? Hope so :) Here’s my card using an image and sentiment from My Favorite Things {check out MFT!!!…way cute stuff over there!!} with My Mind’s Eye patterned paper. I did faux eyelets to the right of the main image, and faux stitching on the patterned paper.

2. Post it on your blog and provide a link under this thread by Friday. To keep it simplified/unjumbled with everyone, please follow this format for commenting:

That Was Scary…

Posted by Jen | random ramblings | Saturday, April 14, 2007

Yesterday Tony got home from work around 4 and we were on the road to the airport at about 4:15 to drop him off for his Vegas trip. The skies were cloudy, but there was sunshine trying to peek through. I laughed at the weather man that said that we were supposed to have severe weather on Friday.
Then…
I was on my way home and I was basically riding the edge of the storm. I could see these huge clouds bubbling in the sky. They looked mean…really! The clouds were moving quick and seemed to be expanding. Up ahead I thought that a truck was losing his load of whiffle balls. Oh no…whiffle balls don’t fall from the sky! It was hail…huge hail. The hail was pounding down on my {semi} new car as if to laugh at it’s finish with no dings. Horrifying is the only way to describe the sound of the hail crashing on the roof. Poor Ellie was scared and there was nothing I could do. Folks up ahead stopped under the overpasses, trapping everyone else behind them, because forbid that they pulled to the side of the road to get under the overpass.
Fortunately it was over quickly and I was home within about 10 minutes. There was huge chunks of hail littering my neighborhood and both my cell phone and home phone were ringing. Thank goodness for good friends. Everyone was checking in on me! {how sweet} Except for a few dings, a crying baby and raised blood pressure, I was golden.

It turns out that there was a tornado about 2 minutes behind me when the wrath of mother nature broke out on me. The tornado sirens had gone off in our neighborhood and people were just emerging from hiding in their bathtubs. Last time I went through this, I was a kid…which adds up because the weather station reported this to be one of the worst storms in 20 years…YIKES.
I hope all you North Texans that are reading this were/are safe. All I can say is, “That was scary!”

Just Because…

Posted by Jen | cards | Thursday, April 12, 2007

When’s the last time you sent a card or a note in the mail {especially to a relative}…JUST BECAUSE? I bet it’s been a long time. I know it has for me {except for the occasional RAK}. As a kid, I would write to my grandparents and friends that had moved away. Nowadays, it takes all I have to get a birthday card out on time. It’s not that I don’t mean well; I’ve just fallen into the rat race we call life. Last night I trying to decide what sentiment to add to this card when “Just because” popped out at me and got me thinking. I don’t know who I will send this to yet, but hopefully it will make them smile thinking that someone sent this, “Just because.”

Busy Little Bee…

Posted by Jen | cards | Wednesday, April 11, 2007

That’s me! I just realized that I have not posted since Saturday. It’s been busy over here. I just got back from an eye doctor appt. with Ellie. Our pediatrician referred us there because she noticed a slight difference in eyeball size. Everything is fine and Ellie is just as perfect as ever…and conked out right now. I am preparing for a Stamp Camp tomorrow night and still need to cut all of the project pieces for it…nothing like waiting until the last minute. Nevermind how my house looks right now…Ahhhhhh!!!
It looks like a lot of people have played in the challenge, and they are all awesome creations! Thanks for playing! I made another PTI card last weekend that I have yet to post, so here it is…
