Ellie’s Diaper Bag Tag and a Challenge…

Well, I couldn’t go on making diaper bag tags for everyone else, and not make one for Ellie!!! I really like this giraffe from the new Bundle of Joy set in the spring mini! I used my blender pen to color him {her} in, as well as the shadow beneath. The lettering was done using my Karen Foster snap stamps {again, yes, you *need* these!}. Every new mama I know is gonna get one of these! Just so you know, the luggage tags were purchased at Wal-Mart, but do not come with the little plastic loops. I attached it to the bag just using ribbon.

Stamps: Bundle of Joy, Karen Foster Snap Stamps
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Going Gray
Other: Ribbon, Luggage Tag

And a Challenge…
On behalf of Tony and myself, THANK YOU for such a warm reception to the Sunday Morning Stamper. On that note, I came up with the title Sunday Morning Stamper and I can say that Tony doesn’t exactly like that name. We are asking for your help and leaving it up to you to come up with a witty, catchy and fun title for him. Just post your idea for his new title in comment to this post by Saturday at midnight. We will review them, and hopefully choose one of your ideas. If your title is chosen, you will be getting a little goodie from me!

No stamping involved…

When you talk about the things in this world my wife is completely in love with, obviously her family is number one. But loved ones aside, there are two things left that she is completely crazy about: stamping and Tim McGraw. And frankly, if Tim said “it’s me or your stamps” I’m pretty sure he’d be sent crawling back to Faith.

I’m not sure where I expected that intro to take me, but I’ve been staring at it for two days now and I can’t do anything with it. The obvious thing to do would be to select all, delete and start over, but I’ve never been one to go for the obvious choice.

Which brings us to this column. What in the world am I doing here? There is no possible way a national audience of stamping addicts wants to listen to me vent on the things going on in my life. Right? But, Jen thinks it’s a good idea, and since I don’t eat unless she feeds me, when she asks if I will blog for her once a week, the correct answer is “Yes, dear.”

(FYI – I will refer to stamping, crafting, cuttle-bugging, scrapbooking and all other similar type activities as “stamping.” I will accept no criticisms for using the term “stamping” when I should have said “scrapbooking”. But I digress.)

This first entry will likely be my shortest. I just want to introduce myself, tell you a little bit about myself, maybe make fun of myself, and see how many times I can use “myself” in one sentence (really, where was I supposed to use a word other than “myself” there?) Depending on the reaction we receive, this could turn into any number of things. Quite possibly it will be the shortest lived guest blog ever, as you readers riot and demand Jen petition immediately for a divorce. Or, as I hinted earlier, it may just be a weekly rambling of what’s on my mind at the time. Another option is for it to evolve into more of a question an answer session with you. I’ve never been afraid to tell people what’s on my mind. And if you respond with questions, I’ll be more than happy to answer them. Maybe I’ll turn in to the Dr. Phil or Dear Abby for the stamping crazy (Note: this originally said “for the stamping wife.” Then I realized it would probably be sexist, chauvinist, or some other “–ist” for me to assume that every one of my wife’s readers are female. On the other hand, given the responses she has received, 100% of you are, in fact, female. So maybe I’ll just roll with my “–isms” and see who gets offended. Stay tuned.)

About me: well, without boring you with the entirety of my life’s story, I will give you the Cliff’s Notes version. I was born and raised in sunny San Diego, graduated from the University of Oklahoma and became a Structural Engineer. I’m a nerd, and pretty proud of it, but this nerd will likely beat you playing baseball, softball, basketball, pool, darts, bowling, air hockey, golf, poker and almost anything else you want to try. I’m obsessed with Sooner Football (capitalized on purpose) and to a slightly lesser degree with my Chargers & Padres. I try to be the best father and husband I can be while maintaining my sanity and cool points. So far, so good…

Ok, maybe this wasn’t as short as I thought it was going to be. But the way I can ramble, it could have been a lot worse. Let me know what you think and/or what you want to get out of my blogs by posting a comment or email me. Thanks for stopping by…

Luggage Tag For Addison…

I made this luggage tag for a new friend whose daughter’s name is Addison. I think that it will be a cute addition to any diaper bag. I chose gender neutral colors so that it wouldn’t be overly girly and frilly, although, I think that the SU! Sarah paper gives it a nice feminine touch. I adore this giraffe from the Wild About You set, but I got Bundle of Joy yesterday and that little giraffe may give this one a run for its money! The *A* is die cut with my C’bug Red Tag Alpha.
The luggage tags are technically id badge holders that were found in the office section of the local Wal-Mart…where I also bought my salmonella contaminated peanut butter!! Have I ever mentioned that I can’t stand Wally World?!?! For the record, no, I did not eat any of the recalled peanut butter…thank goodness!!!

Stamps: SU! Wild About You
Paper: Cardstock in Whisper White, Certainly Celery, So Saffon; Designer Sarah Paper from SU!
Ink: Certainly Celery
Other: Cuttlebug Red Tag Alpha, Ribbon, Luggage Tag Holder

i{heart}u tin…

Aren’t these the cutest? Well, I think they are!! We made these at February Stamp Night. So, what are they exactly? The are {what I call} little shaker tins with magnets on the back. Everyone LOVED making these! The tins are from Oriental Trading Company. I can’t say that they are the highest quality, but I think that they were less than a buck a piece, so what can I expect?!?!
The bottom is lined with Loves Me Designer Paper from Stampin’ Up. I think the pink on pink polkas are so cute that I even used them for the “U.” The “U” is a from the Red Line Cuttlebug alphabet and is mounted on {thinly sliced} dimensionals. The whole reason I got the Sweet On You stamp set was for this “i heart” stamp! Of course I had to have it with my web/blog name and all! :) In this project, it is mounted on 2 {high} thick pop up squares. I added red, pink and clear beads, as well as 2 punched hearts, to make it a shaker. There is a magnet attached to the back using hot glue.
This project was certainly the hit of the night. I have plenty of left over tins and look forward to doing more projects like this on future Stamp Nights.

And (aack, can’t stand starting a sentence with *and*)…as promised on the Splitcoast stalker boards last night, here is a picture of my daughter. Please excuse the watermark across her face, but I assume that as a mother, aunt, friend, etc you understand. :) I entered her in the Regis and Kelly Beautiful Baby contest. The 10 finalists are going to be announced on Monday. Cross your fingers! Also, there will be an internet run-off vote, so if she is chosen be prepared to vote and tell everyone you know to vote!! Again, cross your fingers!! :)

Happy Valentine’s Day…

Posted by Jen | projects | Wednesday, February 14, 2007

I’ve told Tony not to peek at my blog today, because I have not given him his card yet. I did leave some heart shaped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in his car for him, though.
How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day? We are pretty much doing a whole lot of nothin’! I am perfectly fine with that. I am going to make breakfast for dinner…waffles, eggs and sausage {yum!}. Both of us love breakfast for dinner, aka “brinner.” I used to get caught up in the hype of this sugar coated holiday, but ever since I found my true love, I realized it’s really about the other 364 days of the year. Yes, today is a day to express your love, but if you only do it today, what good is it? With that, I will get to the project at hand…
This is a tri-fold card that is held together/closed with velcro. The main image stamp is a $1 from Mike’s…you gotta love those!! The scalloped edges were made using the slit punch. On the inside, I created the phrase i{heart}2loveyou using my Cuttlebug {have I mentioned that I LOVE that thing!?!?}. The letters are punched from the Olivia Alphabet and the brackets were punched from the Harmony alphabet. I did not purchase these alphas at a store, but rather on E-bay {not evil-bay this time}. I had wonderful communication and really fast shipping with the Ebay store, Oh My Crafts! I am not affiliated with them, but certainly would do business with them again!
