Sketch For You to Try {Winner Announced}…

Posted by Jen | SFYTT 2010, The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 30, 2010

Saturday, already? Halloween, still? WOW, this week went by fast and I love Halloween, but I can’t believe it’s not over yet! LOL! Ellie had a Halloween party at school on Thursday, one today and, of course, Halloween Trick-or-Treating tomorrow. She is a mermaid this year and Nic is going to be her crab{by} friend. I hope the both of them will cooperate for a few pics!

I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to Laura Pryor of Lil’ Inker Designs for sponsoring us last week! I hope you enjoyed seeing all the fun stuff you can do with that die/set combo. It is a lot of fun! The random participant from last week that wins this die/set combo is {insert drumroll here ;)}…

#13 HEATHER
Heather, email me {link over there under my pic} and I will get you taken care of.

This is the last sketch for this month, but I am keeping the entries open until the end of November in case you want to link here and be considered for a future Designer of the Month position. Have I ever mentioned how much I love introducing each new Designer of the Month??!! ;)

Lil’ Inker Sponsored Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | SFYTT 2010, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 23, 2010

Happy Saturday Friends! This week we have yet another GREAT sponsor for SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY..Laura Pryor of Lil’ Inker Designs. She has created a darling stamp set with a matching flag die {check it out HERE!}…so cute!

Here’s this week’s sketch! It’s based off of THIS card that I did a little while back. I have to say that this is one of my faves of all time and this will certainly be a “go to” one for me!

Here’s my second take on this sketch, using the flag die in banner form…

Detail shot {Stickles are still wet here}…

I used some “old” alpha stamps from Making Memories to create the sentiment on the banner. This came together so quickly and easily. I will definitely be keeping this die close at hand to make more of these!

Lesa Smaligo, this month’s Designer of the Month, created this cutie patootie sample…

Sketch for You to Try…

Posted by Jen | SFYTT 2010, Verve, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 9, 2010

Whew…I survived this week! Between taking and picking up Tony from the airport, meaning I played single mommy for a couple of days, and taking care of 2 kiddos with the stomach flu…and meetings…and deadlines…not to mention 7 blog posts… I would say that just surviving is the perfect description! After Project House Disinfection, I got some time to stamp and craft…thank goodness!!

Here’s the sketch we get to play with this week…

Leigh O’Brien has been a wonderful part of this team and I thank her thank her greatly for her FANTABULOUS contributions. Unfortunately, she has suffered an injury that has kept her from stamping for the past few weeks and she will be out for several more to come. She has chosen to step down from her current commitments so that she may properly take care of herself. Please stop by and give her some love and let her know that she will missed! Thank you, Leigh!!!

A little about Lesa in her own words…
Having been a long time fan of Jen’s SFYTT, I was thrilled when she asked me to be her guest designer for the month of October. Checking out her sketch every Saturday morning has become as much a part of my routine as stopping at Starbucks! I had the pleasure of meeting Jen in person a few years ago (along with a couple of her stamping partners in crime) for some lunch and a little stamp shopping. I wish we were able to get together more often! Since October is my birthday month, being the guest designer is the coolest gift ever! Thanks Jen!
I am a WFHM (work from home mom) who owns a firm in the political and association management arenas. I was born and raised in Oklahoma and am blessed to have a wonderful family. My husband is also in politics and my 14 year-old daughter is in the 8th grade. Two days ago we added a new little blessing to our family – a Yorkshire Terrier - named Marlie.
In addition to paper crafting, I enjoy reading, Starbucks coffee, college football, baking, old movies and all things politics. I am looking forward to meeting all the SFYTT gals this month!

Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | MFT, SFYTT 2010, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, September 25, 2010

Autumn greetings! They say fall is here, but as I type this on Friday afternoon it’s about 88 degrees with some terrible humidity smothering the air. The weatherman says a cooler week is in store for us next week…promises, promises!! Today we are going to a 1 year old birthday party and hopefully relaxing the rest of the day away. Well, as much relaxing as one can do with a CRAWLING BABY {yep, he’s on the move} and an active pre-schooler. At least it will be fun!

This week’s sketch has so many possibilities! A sentiment can play the lead, or you can choose to put a image front and center. Whatever you choose to do, have fun and just go with it! Here’s the sketch…

My sample…

This card uses A BUNCH of My Favorite Things products! Can you spot all five of the Die-Namics that I used? Yep, FIVE! I used the Rolled Flower, Jumbo Scallop, Perfect Petal Trio, Flower & Leaf Trio and finally the Framed Greetings die that comes with the Framed Greetings set.

Thanks to Tori Wild for being this month’s Designer of the Month. Here is her fabulous card using this week’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY
